Believe me guys...nothing in this game was inspired by Dune. Game theme is there from 2020...this is inspired by Devir's Kemushi Saga...wich has silk worms from the begining. Hope you enjoy the game. Tks for the feedback and your time.

@@javierpelizzari8473 lol, you do realize Dune has been around since the 1960's, and the first film adaptation was 1984. And many people have complained that Lucas stole a lot of ideas from Dune for the original Star Wars trilogy. Saying the game theme is from 2020 doesn't mean much, especially since we knew the new Dune movies were coming before that...

I'm glad that they liked the game because after watching another review of it first along with this one, it got me excited for the release. Also after having Silk in my collection and Terror Below on the way right now, it'll be fun to have a trilogy collection of worm-related games lol. Great review as always, guys.

The new Seals of Approval and Excellence designs are ON POINT! Superb. Funny I was just thinking of how dated the old seals looked and how I'd redesign them, and you guys changed it literally days later. Amazing art / design on that. Kudos to whomever updated it!

They already had art of the silkworms from Silk. Most likely the editor watned the theme to fit Silk , Bitoku, and the next game Datoshi (By David Garcia of Barcelona & Arborea fame). Maybe a pick and deliver can feel a bit wonky, but if you have doubts or want to test it there's already the tutorial on major yotube channels (Meeple University). And Dice Tower, a better pun would've been "I've been through the desert with a worm with no name". Or "Sand: It's coarse and gets everywhere".

I think from a Solo perspective I heard more positives from this review, since the tightness and complexity are some of the things I can take my time solving during every turn. I'm glad Wendy mentioned how well this ramps up and can become rewarding. I dislike games that feel like the effort outweighs the reward. Thanks for the review.

Reminder for the Dice Tower staff: you show us the overview, THEN talk about it. By the time there’s a discussion about the theme, I’d spent eight minutes wondering why Wendy was obsessing about feeding and growing her worm, and if she was ok 🤪

There are even choices that are totally absurd. Mission cards are ordered from highest (left) to lowest (right) and then player that takes the rightmost one (the lowest chosen) becomes first player. Normally you order lowest to highest and left to right. It is much more natural and there is no diffrence in result. They even numbered the missions 0 to 4 instead of 1 to 5. Programmers count from 0. Everyone else counts from 1, especially considered that these numbers represent the "day" in the game.

Haha, I like the Anakin reference. One of the “best” quotes from the prequels. “I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Not like here. Here everything is soft and smooth.” (While next to Padme, what a pimp!)

Given how big Dune has been in the media, you're telling me that they didn't make the theme JUST Duneish enough to make people look? Really? I'll happily concede that the game wasn't designed with Dune in mind. But riding worms in the desert? It's clearly close enough that we are talking about it. Was that on purpose? Probably.

15 years later, 3 people working for the review, and an entire studio to produce, and the only think better than the old Vassel reviews is the video compression. I doubt 15 years from now, 12 people won't get the quality and concision of an old Vassel video.

I was hyped at first but something about the game's action system really turns me off. Having to burn 1-2 actions to refuel 1/3 resources in order to simply move, losing turns because every good you pickup decreases your total # of actions, whatever dice you pick has no real impact on the other players, and so on. I get the upgrades intentionally alleviate that, but I dunno, I rather start off capable of taking turns and have the upgrades feel like I'm breaking the game compared to starting off unable to do a single thing. Also I'm surprised no one mentioned the questionable choice of being able to throw away a delivery to get a free action. It, with the rest of the above, comes of as mechanically interesting and novel, but not particularly fun.

I want to start by expressing my deep appreciation for The Dice Tower; I've been a devoted fan and regularly enjoy the majority of the content you produce. With that said, I hope you'll take the following comments as constructive feedback rather than criticism. Firstly, I found the overview of the game to be somewhat messy and lacking in organization. Secondly, the review omitted mentioning player count, which I believe is crucial as the designer has noted a significant change in gameplay experience at 2 and 4 players. During the review, Mike referred to the "Daikoshu" Universe, but I believe it's actually part of the Kemushi Universe. This may seem like a minor detail, but it suggests to me that perhaps some additional research could have been beneficial for the review. Lastly, I'm particularly excited about this game as an Argentinean, considering it's one of the most significant global releases by Argentinean designers. This aspect of the review was slightly disappointing for me personally. I hope this feedback is helpful and contributes positively to your future content. Thank you for all that you do at The Dice Tower.

The first play is suuuuuuuuuuuuper rough and it turned me off completely. Beautiful sheen but the rulebook made it a complete turnoff when I wanted to mush on through my game. I left the first game thinking I dont want to get gud at this game.
