This is really nice. I'm impressed by how much variety is in the distant mountain, yet with soft edges that don't distract from your focal point of the dunes. Very nice demo. I look forward to watching all of your other national park paintings. I've saved them to watch later, but you've produced videos faster than I have time to watch. LOL. Of course, that's because I've been busy doing plein air paintings in Kentucky's beautiful spring weather. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful Steph. I love unspoiled nature. I am telling you those mountains you painted could be the Santa Catalina's here in Tucson. They are the Southwest part of the Rocky Mountains. I guess mountains in the west look the same to some folks. But I used them for a guide when we first moved here. Going north you would see Mt Lemmon, just one part of the Catalinas. West, you could not see mountains from where I lived. East were the Rincons and south were Santa Rita mountains. I always knew which direction I was going. Some day you must paint something from the Catalinas. You are truly blessed to have the talent to bring to the canvas what God made as HE made it. Thank you.

thanks very much David! As I was working on this painting, i kept thinking to myself "this would have been so much easier with oils"... so yes - definitely give it a try with oils! You'll have more time to blend the shadows on the dunes before the paint dries :D

@@elflordsjourneys soft body acrylics are less thick but have the same amount of pigment, so they are a little easier to work with using smaller brushes with more detail! 😄 heavy body paints are thicker.
