Sand Caves and Native American Petroglyphs | Utah Adventure

Amazing Sand Caves just North of Kanab Utah on Highway 89. The Sand Caves have been a location we have wanted to visit for sometime. It did not dissapoint. The location is amazing and the area and hike is very clean.

Thanks. I do feel like we were lucky. We were there early in the morning and the weather was perfect. I would definitely stop there again.

Really cool! Crazy how soft the walls were. That sand just fell off.

That rock art is referred to as petroglyphs. Also, the white flower is a Moon Flower (Datura) and the black beetle is a Desert Stink Beetle, which you don’t want to agitate or otherwise wlse you could get sprayed. Great video, hope ya’ll are doing well, stay safe! 😎

We know that the caves were occupied over time, but they don't look natural, what is their story? Thanks for the tour.

I found this information: These sand caves were man-made when they began mining for the sand in the area. The mining process was short lived and now we have these spectacular caves to explore. We do know there are several other similar caves in that area and the native Americans left their mark through out the area as well. We really enjoyed this explore.

Thank you for the information. I wonder what was so special about the sand that they chose to mine it? I can't imagine sand being particularly valuable 🤑🤗. Greetings from Wales.
