It's called Ibuki. If you do it correctly your body can withstand any type of blows and punches in a more effective way since the whole body is in extreme tension from this breath. Hope this help you :)

I am all for the sound in kata but this one was ridiculous more like a snorring person.

A good performance of KKS Sanchin, however it clearly shows just how far the Japanese and many Okinawan's have devolved away from the original concepts found in San Zhan. This really is a classic case of 'Chinese whispers'.

As you can see what is done in KKS is nothing like the original form/s. There are slightly more Kung Fu like versions in other Okinawan styles, with Uechi Ryu probably being the closest. Here's an Isshin-ryū version: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qGuOudiveLaektI.html but still along way from the original form, which was about softness and fluidity generating power, not huge muscular tension.

Man we'd have been whooped for the stance. I guess western society made karate something it wasn't

@@brettflower8058 , yeah, Brett see what you mean, seems high ranking masters do tend to put they're own laziness in on these katas, and poor form creeps in too.

@@steaks652 yeah I'm not sure what it is, my our shihan is the grand master book 🤔 didn't know it was a thing.. and our style is full contact, it is a break away from kyokushin, and we do thing's a little different.. it's a small style in 40 us year's we only till this day have 35 black belts, now that it is more down to the fact they refuse to water it down to keep people, the downside even us blackbelts get tired of it. Our shihan is only a 4th degree.. he's obviously higher in kyokushin... but my question is why do I see the Japanese themselves and even the breathing doesn't seem strong and deep enough for sanchin.

@@brettflower8058 , I have noticed on other videos this master has his very own let's say take on techniques which would have meant a fail in gradings I'm certain, graded under Shihan Arneil many years ago, and I get dissapointed to see such bad habits forming. But with such high ranking black belts no one will correct such slackness.
