San Rafael Swell Ride in our Can Am Maverick Trail Part 1.

Ойын-сауық

This is our first time riding in the San Rafael Swell area in Central Utah. We have always wanted to ride this area, but because of it's size, we didn't want to do it alone. Having a local group show us around was the perfect way to get introduced to the San Rafael Swell. Thank You to Castle Country OHV Association for hosting and guiding this event. This is part 1 of our 2 day trip. Stay tuned for Part 2.

Looks like a fun trip! You guys have ridden more of Utah than I have...and I live here! Lol! I used to run around the northern portions of the Swell when I had my Jeep 5-6 years ago. It's a really cool area to explore! I have yet to drag the Outlander out there. 😥 Hopefully I can get down there this year before it gets too hot! 🥵

It's a beautiful place. Some spots are not easy in a 50 inch machine, but most of what we did was doable. Beautiful place for sure.

The drive was beautiful out to Huntington Utah. Wow, what a beautiful ride in the San Rafael Swell area! I love areas that is formed by canyons and arroyos. The I-70 bridge crossing the gorge was cool. I can see why people stop for pictures. Happy Easter! Hope all is well. Great video!

Happy Easter to you and your family. It's a unique area for sure, situated between the Arapeen Trail system and the Paiute Trail system to the West and Moab to the East, the whole Swell area is the little-known center of Utah. We hope to make it back there some day.

Another fantastic video! That area is awesome. I've only explored south of I-70, but I hope to do more. You two are a great team. You might consider using the more standard spotter-driver language of "Driver(side)" and "Passenger(side)" to help eliminate any "your left, my right" type steering confusion, especially when riding in groups. Looking forward to another season of videos!

Impressed on how you handled the technical portions of the trail. I've been on some trails similar to those on my Pioneer 500. You are sore by the end of the day. Great video.

Thanks ! Yeah, it was pretty slow going, but we made it. Definitely a lot to ask of a Maverick Trail, but we got it through. Would love to do it again, but probably not in the MT.

Kanab has some great riding. We are going to their Jamboree this week since we really enjoyed last year. There were a couple MT on some of the trails with us. Less rocks and more sand

We spent a couple days down there last year in our MT. Had a great time and great weather in the end of March. Eva Conover was great. Didn't attempt Devils Racetrack based on input from our local riding buddy. Looking forward to part 2.

Eva Conover was a beautiful trail. I'd love to do that again. I don't think I'd ever do Devils Racetrack in the MT again. But it is a beautiful area.

Thanks for the video! Hope no dammage under the maverick! I'm not a big fan of such rocky sections probably because I saw too many videos of fails in rocky sections? Can't wait for the part 2... Good team work!!!

Thanks ! No damage, and still can't believe there's no damage. We slammed the bottom of the machine hard so many times. We aren't fans of that type of stuff either, but we had no idea what we were getting in to. And other than that one section (maybe 1/2 mile) it wasn't bad at all. We'd love to go back and do it again, but not in the Maverick Trail, it's just too much to ask of that machine. Thanks for watching 👍

That's a great loop. I've always ran it the opposite direction starting near Swayze Cabin and down. Probably get better views going down DRT like you did than up it. I haven't done it in my Talon R yet but we rode it again on Dirtbikes the weekend after you guys were there. Love your vids

I wonder if doing the Devils Racetrack the other direction would be easier, I don't know. Generally I prefer going up obstacles than down, but looking back it would probably be just as difficult either way. We appreciate you watching, and Thank You for the kind words. We appreciate it.

The Swell is a great area to explore, one of my favorite areas. I need to get the outlander down there and ride some of the trails. I have done that area in fullsize rigs.

Any snakes,Ticks, wildlife? Has any one had things removed from parked open trailer? at hotel?

  • @MyATVlife

    @MyATVlife

It was still very early in the year, and very cold, so no snakes or ticks. Very possible during the hot summer I suppose. Not much wildlife either, but I don't know it was because of the weather, or just the area. We stayed in a gated RV park. Very safe and secure. Utah seems to be a pretty good place. I've never had anything swiped from a trailer or camp site during any of my Utah trips, and we've done many.

Totally. Our poor little Maverick Trail got its butt kicked out there. I will never get rid of my MT, but we may invest in a big wide 4 seat SXS someday for stuff like this.
