Wow it's amazing to watch this video in 2023 and remembering when i lived in the outer sunset in the mid 70's my family would eat at Celia's Mexican restaurant on Judah & 45th ave, and it's still here in this video!!!!! 👍🌮🌯🫔

It's crazy how slow this service is. Stopping at an all way stop sign while 3 cars go in each direction. So many pedestrians crossing right in front of the train. Good video though

Yeah, Muni has been trying to get signal priority for years! They did get it on some lines, but it's like pulling teeth. The car advocates make sure to take a pound of flesh for every dedicated lane and timed signal. But Muni is getting there. Slowly, but surely!

T-Third/N on the eastern side will be getting a pilot for the new train control that's supposed to improve travel times as the trains will be able to communicate with the stop lights. If it works correctly, the trains shouldn't wait at the lights or even need to slow down at the intersections... maybe. It's possible, other similar systems do it. But the real question is whether the folks at muni get pushback from car drivers and make a potentially good system a waste for $600m. 1 car (or even a pedestrian for that matter) shouldn't block the travel time of a train carrying over 100 passengers.

You need to see the light rail in Portland, Oregon (still in the US), in Portland our light rail is treated like a train in the city, it gets signal priority and dedicated lanes.

Spent my youth working for this agency, some of the best and worst times of my life. Muni is definitely a alternate reality organization
