Hey Rich, what do you think about Kyle Filipowski from duke, he is mobile for a 7 ft Center quick to his feet, good lateral movement , good ball handling skills for a big man,has potential as a 3 level scorer, decent defender,. I think he could play alongside Wemby, he was able to switch on def with a guard , not being left behind.. Just my observation from his game highlights..😅 only cons he lacks strength

@@lecoolpotager6670 Maybe it's because of how "Well-Paid" the NBA players are and unlike European players who need to play for their lives to keep their jobs? Take football for example, they used the most "Capitalist" approach, and see what happened? There are always only a few strong teams in the Divisions... Take La Liga for example, who else is competing against the "Barcelona" or the " Real Madrid Club"? When they can put 3 of the best forwards in the world together without punishments? And create an all-star team every year? The lottery system and the luxury tax provide a chance for small market teams with poor owners, so everyone can have a shot at coming back... Otherwise, it will always be the big market teams who thrive and compete for the title...Like the 1960~70 Lakers and Celtics, it's boring as shit...

@@lecoolpotager6670 I'm simply replying to you about what would happen without the "Lottery system" in NBA, which you think it's a "Communist approach". So football/soccer is also a big market sport in Europe without being " Communist" as you claimed, which leads to an uneven distribution of resources... 20 teams in the elite group while only a couple of teams are competitive. While the NBA is not like that for the most part, thx to the "Lottery System" you hated. Teams like the Spurs, OKC, the Bucks, or the Nuggets stand a chance against the big-market teams like LA, NY, or the Celtics. Of course the big market teams will still always have some advantages, but not as one-sided as we can see in Soccer. In fact, the Lakers had only won 1 chip in the past decade, and none for the Celtics, none for NY... Since 2019 there haven't been any B2B championships, and all of them were won by different teams. Of course, you would see some "Dynasties" throughout history, but since the league had added more rules to the cap, there are fewer and fewer one-sided teams. If you take away the "Lottery System", you will only see big market teams competing for the championship in each season, since the top talents will always go to the big market team if they can choose themselves... Every top rookie will go to LA, NY, or Boston...

I think you did a great job given the new info and situation. Unfortunately, I can see either the Hawks or Wizards trading down to get more draft choices, given their needs, if the right deal comes along. This is the challenge of a draft with few truly standout players. I still like your choice at 4 for SA. He may not be the ideal choice, but he can probably start next season and be an upgrade. I’d still package the 8th pick for a veteran guard. With Wemby being so good, you need to have at least two players who are ready to go at the beginning of the season. The only other option I see is drafting a guard and then getting a vet at the tail end of his career to give your draft pick guard time to learn how to play in the NBA.

I actually think if the Wizards pass on him the Rockets have to many Wings better than Risarche to right now. Could they still take him, yes, but I am hoping they don't want another shooter who will need the ball. But I would not hate Buzelis, he was among the guys mocked between 1 and 5 before he disappeared at the start of the GLeague season. But would it be so bad to still take Topic. If he ends up sitting for a year that plays into the Spurs tanking another year. So you draft Buzelis at 4 assuming Risarche is gone. And at 8 you have a guy mocked as high as 2 just recently and let him sit with the Spurs medical staff and be around the team similar to Chet. Plus, this allows Trey another year and you let him go at the end of the next season where you draft a point guard again in a better class. That said twice in a year is a huge red flag. Maybe you go with Ron Holland. The most athletic wing in the draft. Only problem for me is, he only gives me Keldon 2.0 vibes. But a taller more athletic Keldon who can play some defense might not be the worst pick? Either way you're right, this changes the math if you believe the Spurs were taking him. I Will wait until after the combine before thinking too much more about this.

The way I see it is the Spurs are picking here BPA, but BPA for Wemby. To that note, I think it is clear what the Spurs need. More than anything, they need a defensive upgrade. How many times has Wemby deterred a paint shot only for them to dish it out and we get beat on the perimeter. Stephon Castle I think is the best perimeter defender in the draft, I think we take him 4. Then if Knecht or Buzelis are available at 8, we go for them, if not available, I would say we go for Cody Williams. I also would be hesitant to pick Knecht due to his age.

I'm no Topic lover, but no hater to. So to be fair: from what I see Topic weird way of moving (Manu Ginobili vibes) when his legs go in one direction while his body remains facing forward, is very surprising to his opponents, that could explain why sometimes he can finish on real easy layups. *BUT* yeah there's a but. Manu was an average 3P shooter as a rookie and became elite at shooting, where N.Topic is huring the team with his sub26% from 3P. (It'll probably be worst at NBA lvl) So I hate the idea drafting Topic when Spurs definitely need 3 thing Topic is not: shooting, D, *and a PG who can protect the ball* (because yeah like manu he like those fancy pass, and have plenty of turnovers as a result)

Buzelis is a decent pick. You can teach him how to shoot but you can't teach height. I was leaning toward Knecht but settled for Dillingham for his PG potential and explosive scoring. Hopefully, Pop can transform him into Tony Parker 2.0.

Matas is soft and have a weird shooting form. atm he's a complete raw prospect, perfect to tank... maybe he can become good in 2 years... but he'll be a complete negative on offense before that. Easy fix. Houston will draft Risacher, we all know that. BUT. The Spurs have about 18 picks in the next 4 drafts. So we offer Washington, who is in no hurry to rebuild, 4 second round picks and 1 first round pick, and the 4th pick overall in the draft. Clingan will fall to the 4th pick, so Washington doesn't have to worry about getting him anyways. Houston doesn't want Clingan so they will move on to another player. It's a win win for Washington as they need to rebuild with lots of draft picks. The Spurs win by getting Risacher. Houston , oh well, who cares about Houston.

I would trade Keldon Johnson and a pick to move to number 2 .

Would love Buzelis as the second pick but very much doubt he gets past Detroit I'd rather have Dilly than Matas if I can have only one. Go with Rob and then Tidjane ! tidjane would work well with Wemby.
Matas and Dillingham gonna be a great match with us IF we draft both of them
I still would pass on topic. The spurs problem is defense and shooting. There are times it looks like a shooting warmup and lay up drill - that’s how bad that defense played at certain stretches. Whats crazy pop built a culture on defense and that’s his calling card there.
Don’t over think it rob n Cody simple

Dillingham definitely wants to come expressed it openly so I do not think the teams will jump at him so I see him being available at 8. We need either Risacher or Buzalis at wing as we need an upgrade on the SF position. So I would take Buzalis and one of PG depending on who is available.

If top 3 is Sarr Risacher and Clingan, my choice would be Dillingham + Knecht, not very sexy but meets our needs. (Could still get Topic at 8 if his knee dont scare us, + Melvin Ajinca at 37 for a solid 3&D)
I think the Spurs go with Risacher if he falls or Buzelis at 4. They need to replace Champagnie at 3 before they replace Jones at 1. Risacher and Buzelis are just a better overall pick than Dillingham. Then they can get luck and select Dilly or Topic at 8.

Next best players the Spurs should take is Buzelis at #4 because the Pistons#5, Hornets#6 and the Blazers#7 are set at point guard and Topic and Dillingham will be there at #8 no matter which way you go. Though I love Stephon Castle's game and the Spurs need to take a serious look at #4 or at #8 if he falls that far.
Topic might drop He just tore his ACL Spurs might want to risk it

Yea 2nd round pick
And also topic before his injury was amazing but anyway hes 18 19 i think by the time next season rolls around.
my wildcard pick for number 4 is actually Knecht and then dillingham or castle or sheppard at 8. rockets could actually pick sheppard cause they already have an abundance of wings which means risacher could go to the spurs at 4.
Trade up using the 2 second round picks for Tristan Da Silva. He’s a balla on both ends especially scoring
In that config i take Castle at 4th and Dillingham at 8th.
reed woon't be there at 8... dillingham will. Castle is only 6' 1 1/2 " tall, not as tell as stated
I hate, I hate, I hate that the hawks have number one 😂
😂..Draft 2024 gets PATFO to burn candles.😅 ...did a fun mock 100x just to redo again😂
Can we trade some second rounders and the 4th pick to get Risacher? I have no clue how these trades work :/

Trading up is an option...
Am a wizards fan man i agree with your draft salute

Buzelis is ok at 4 if Risacher is not available.

Stick to the plan, take what we need, even if I'm not convince that those players at PG are better than Jones.... Trade for the 1st pick makes no sense since this draft is pretty pretty even....

Spurs already have Sochan who is still struggling so much on offense... do we need another one like that?
@paulmallet3104

I don't understand the Matas hype, he can't shoot (and we need that rn, especially at 3) and his mental/ego seems to be in a bad place, especially compared to his performances, not the type of player I want in my spurs

@@paulmallet3104 Plus he was measured as 6'8.75 with a 6'10 wingspan after the newest combine. I would say not a good look, first of all, he was claimed to be 6'10, and secondly, his wingspan is not ideal for his size, only about 1.25 inches longer than his height. Lacking athleticism upsides are not a surprise, combine that with poor shooting, and I just can't help but smell bust...
If reed sheppard is there gotta take him with 4
Reed Sheppard is top 3
Buzelis at 4 and Dillingham at 8
1st for 4th 8th and spurs next year pick protections on it
I will go for Reed Sheppard and Ron Holland they are both pretty good defenders
Castle and Knecht
Don't worry, be happy. 😂 Maybe We pick for another bigman center but not guard. Zack Edey?
Love the energy bro. I agree that we go with Matas and trust that Dilly (and Topic) will still be there at 8. Don’t see Shepard dropping, he may go as high as 3.
Dillingham at 4 and Kinect at 8
Reed Sheppard
The topic injury does bring an interesting question up. If he's still available at the 8th pick, is he worth taking the chance?

@TSRSports50 I also think the topic injury helps the case for possibly trading up or even down/out of the draft. I really don't like being in that 4 spot and as far as I'm concerned, the top 5 is sarr, risacher or bust. I REALLY don't love dillingham or Holland and with shepherd measuring even smaller than expected, I have reservations there.

What about trading down with Detroit so they take Buzelis and we get (fill in blank) and we get Detroit's #1 pick next year? If we don't do anything and Risacher is there at #4, then the French Connection (with Sissoko) is now in SA.
@vexotimmer2675

I don't mind that idea. The problem is, I don't think Detroit is gonna be stupid enough to give us their first round pick next year. That pick has a chance to be Cooper Flagg or Ace Bailey.
Dillingham at 4 and Knecht at 8. we get a ball handler/pnr partner for wemby in Dillingham and a ready to play now shooting wing in Knecht
only 3 good players in this draft and the spurs get the 4th pick., what a waste.
Go with Castle or Dillingham at 4, Dalton at 8 then trade the 2 2nd round picks along with a 2025 2nd round to try to grab Tristen Da Silva or Klintman in mid 1st round
Definitely would want buzelis at spurs especially if he drops to no 8 which i see very unlikely to happen. For me we should try to get buzelis and topic. And also why is collier so far down? But for me we should get buzelis and topic at no 4 and 8 if possible or else buzelis and collier or buzelis and dillingham. But as a european i definitely think we need buzelis and topic because we add a lot of size

We need Buzelis with our 4th pick and Dillingham or Reed Shepard at 8.
Tough but I would use a pick as trade bait for a veteran
Draft wise, the best move for us is Dilingham at 4 and Edey at 8. Sohan will take a jump in performance at the 2 and 3 where he's suppose to be, he's not a point and idk why Pop even tried it. We need a veteran point and a veteran 3 as well to show the fellas how to close games. We don't know how to finish teams in the 4th, that veteran presence will help them from blowing 4qtr leads and we'll win more games.
