Wow! I've never heard George Strait sing this song, until now. San Antonio Rose is from waaaaay before my time (I was born in 1968), but it's my favorite song by Bob Wills And The Texas Playboys. My Dad, who passed away in April of 2018, was a huge Bob Wills fan, and I know he'd enjoy hearing George Strait sing this song, as well. I've heard lots of different cover versions of San Antonio Rose, and George Strait's cover of it is, by far, the best. I love me some George Strait.!

My Aunt lived in San Antonio

Country singers like Campbell, Denver, Haggard, Flavin, etc. play their guitars while singing. George Strait use guitar as PROPS. He doesn't know how to play.

A country singer looks more impressive if he plays acoustic guitar while singing. GS wears a guitar usually as PROPS. Not commendable.

Strait is known for holding guitar as props but don't really play it.
