The main difference between Sengoku Basara and Samurai Warriors (at least the first 3 games of each series) is that in general Sengoku Basara is a very "selfish" game, you may lose your entire army, because the only lose condition is your death. Meanwhile in Samurai Warriors you need to keep camps and/or officers alive, and in some cases you can't let the enemy general escape. It is much more strategic. You really feel the tide of the battle changing, because you care about the survival of your allies. For example, you don't want the east and north officers to die, because they can stop the enemy from reaching your main camp.

Well I would say Sengoku Basara broke the similarity barrier in 3, where the game became more focused on combo play rather than the number of enemies (it can be argued it was always the case but later mechanical updates allowed for much more DMC style gameplay later on)

I gotta say I honestly liked Devil Kings a lot despite it getting a lot of hate for cutting characters and changing their names. It's a shame we never got Devil Kings 2...

Samurai Warriors 1 & 2 The Best, My First Childhood Game on PS2

As time went on, I feel as though Sengoku BASARA managed to outshine Samurai Warriors in terms of quality. The third game in the series was where the gameplay got a massive face-lift, allowing you to chain various attacks together to varying effects, and no two characters felt anywhere near the same as one another. The enemy and ally AI also saw an improvement, and the sometimes-optional camp-capture contributed to how powerful the boss at the end of the level would be. The best way I can describe modern Sengoku BASARA is if Samurai Warriors met Devil May Cry's versatility. I can even say the same for the anime series. It served as an introduction to the franchise for many, myself included. You didn't need to have played the games in order to enjoy it, because it takes that universe and makes its own coherent story with it. It's insane, over-the-top fun that's well animated thanks to Production IG, yet it also has the kind of heart, passion and care behind it that few game-to-anime adaptations ever do. Samurai Kings 1, 2 and Last Party is a series I can recommend to anyone looking for something fun, and it feels like one big self-contained series. While I did get a kick out of Samurai Warriors' anime for its setting, nothing about it struck me as particularly good. The animation is average, the art direction is arguably worse than the games, the lack of commitment to either a more realistic or over-the-top style results in a flat experience overall, and it made me just wish I was playing SW4 instead (which I still haven't bought yet). I just look at both anime and see more effort and passion put into Sengoku BASARA, which is odd considering which of the two is more popular worldwide. But Samurai Kings really did have some jaw-dropping fight scenes, and spectacle that's beyond parallel, no matter how ridiculous it got. And yet it also knew how to hit like a truck with its more somber and emotional moments. It's a paradox, but in the best way possible.

u can unlock DMC weapons in Basara, Yuki's ultimate weapon is the Sparda swords(yes he dual wields two of them lol)

While Sengoku BASARA is by no means a bad game, I think Sengoku BASARA 2 and its expansion (HEROES) really ironed out its flaws and made it shine. It's a game filled with fun content, good stories, lovable characters, charming art direction... I could go on and on. Truly a PS2 hidden gem in the eyes of the west.

I really wish barasa got localized. the later games have a lot of that capcom flair in terms of mechanics and active combat compared to samurai warriors

Hey at least 3, or samurai heroes on Wii and ps3, are translated as the original and is pretty sweet

you shouldve just played Devil Kings so that you can be comfortable rarher than deal with any bias or misunderstandings

The good thing now is, €A doesnt have the exclusive license to star star wars games anymore. I hope Koei and Disney make a star wars warriors happen.

For this video, I was playing with the PCSX2 emulator on my PC, captured using GeForce Experience. For other console captures, I use the Startech USB3HDCAP with OBS.

I finished samurai warriors on psp but i think I'll check out the ps2 version after seeing that full of red lights (enemies) on your map lol

Samurai warriors brought me into the mix I loved how me & a friend could Jam together however I I easily giv it to devil kings for single player

Yeah Honda is a like xs1 Goliath from cod advance warfare but bigger and holds a giant spinning spear

I love Sengoku Basara, iam a huge fan of this series since i got hands on devil kings when i was a kid. And i dont hate devil kings, its a shame they didnt want to localize the true game but i still enjoy devil kings. This opinion may be from nostalgic factors but i do think the voices from devil kings godamn great, i love them and i dont feel awkward at all. Also u forgot to mention that from Sengoku Basara to Devil Kings they cut off some playable characters

Basara is better, but there is something off of it, the newest version which was released 4 years ago is so expensive, 34 bucks, 500 bucks, 50 bucks, you know normally games that old cost only 15 bucks and newest ones cost 30 bucks, So there is something off of it, especially Basara 3 utage and Basara 4 Sumeragi

@@dvader518 ahh Sanada Maru was a Samurai Warriors (Sengoku Musou) game. I haven't played that one. The newest one I played was 4-II. Though Sanada Maru looks to have generally positive reviews too. I do know the newest Dynasty Warriors was a mess though.

Am I the only one who recognised mugen from champloo?

I watched this video just to know what was the deal with all the different warriors games. By the end I ended up being interested in playing 18 year old PS2 games.

Damn and I loved Devil Kings

Best Dynasty Warriors style game to me is still One Piece PW 1 Imo Because that game actually felt like you were doing something other than just killing a bunch of enemies. The boss fights felt like boss fights

Have not played it. My favorite anime mousou game is the gundam. I couldn’t stand the breaker series or gunpla so these games kicked ass!

Everyone cares about samurai games in US all of a sudden when ghost of tshumia came out people give a danm but never cared about samurai warriors, Sengoku BASARA, way of the samurai games, genji Dawn of the Samurai, Tenchu wrath of heaven even tho it’s ninja, onimusha series which inspired games like dark souls and nioh ecpecially onimusha 4 dawn of dreams but obviously dark souls got all the credit and not onimusha, onimusha literally you can’t jump so it’s slow paced but technical and rpg elements wich is like souls games onimusha started it all way of the samurai too was the first open world samurai game and you could pick your paths for the story wich mass effect got all the credit instead

Do not compare between easy & chaos mode Whatever mode is, it need slightly change, like: 1:they can block attack faster than normal 2:they can combo you while on air 3:army can overwhelming you and combo to death, just like dynasty warrior 4 you always need bodyguard to protect you 4: on High difficulty they can use musou to attack you, which mean they will got iFrame for few seconds 5:they can interrupt during combo, like backstab But after dynasty warrior 7 Warrior Orochi These A.I so dumb and not aggressive like dynasty warrior 4 About difficulty, they always increase more health, increase more damage dealt, but A.I still dumb af If you says playing chaos mode, yeah, what change? Increase health and damage dealt only, not A.I improving

Even though I like both,Yukimura is annoying in Sengoku Basara. I like both designs of Kenshin Uesugi but I prefer his character in Samurai Warriors,I absolutely hate Kenshin and Kasuga as a couple because of the fact that their relationship is so poorly written.Capcom should give us Aya Gozen,Kenshin's son Kagetsu Uesugi who are important figures in Kenshin's life and just let Kasuga have her own story.

While I don't mind Kenshin and Kasuga, BASARA is seriously missing more characters for the Uesugi. Makes no sense that the God of War has just Kasuga by his side... In general, with 4, unpopular characters and factions got so neglected... if there is a SB5, I hope they rectify this mistake. Kenshin and Shingen are in dire need of some spotlight.

@@XelchanTheBrave Sengoku Musou also had missing characters for a while, like Sarutobi Sasuke. While the Musou series outshines Basara in terms of playable characters, I'm drawn more into Basara because each character plays very differently from each other, which is probably the reason why Basara has fewer characters to begin with.

And I do wish Capcom would continue Sengoku Basara but they've sadly been neglecting the game ever since 2016 since resident evil remakes have been giving them cash grabs. And while I don't hate Kasuga,But love her character,But I will admit that I find it annoying when Kenshin is all she talks about.My own idea for her own story where she's an independent character or has character development is when Kenshin brings Aya-Gozen and her son Kagekatsu Uesugi into his care and he later adopts Kagekatsu and Kenshin turns his focus on taking care of his people from the persuasion of Aya which causes Kasuga and Kenshin to drift off from each other,But Kenshin still supports her financially.But Kasuga would run away when Kenshin hired another ninja by the name of Kato Danzo,And my idea of Kato Danzo in SB is a ruthless ninja. But another idea of mine for Kasuga is where she discovers that the woman she has a rivalry with Nohime is actually a relative of hers,Since in real life,And ik Kasuga is fictional. But I don't think her name came from the name of Kenshin's castle name but from a woman named Fuku who is better remembered in history as "Lady Kasuga" who is also a member of the Saito family which is Nohime's birth family.And historically Lady Kasuga never had communication with Kenshin Uesugi.

How could you forget Kanetsugu THE INVINCIBLE!? Kenshin's most reliable and most powerful retainer, legends say that he beat Keiji Maeda in a thumb war and that's why Keiji joined forces with the Uesugi in Basara 3 because Kanetsugu was just too much for him to handle. Kenshin cannot lose so long as he has Kanetsugu the INVINCIBLE!!! Because he is INVINCIBLE!!! If it wasn't for his unwavering loyalty and sense of honor as a retainer of Kenshin, he could have unified all of Japan as a one man army, literally no one can stop him for he is INVINCIBLE!!!
