god, this ending just makes my heart hurt. It's basically just fuu reminiscing about her childhood, and when I finally finished the show and watched the ending for a first full time, I was literally bawling. It really puts emotion behind these seemingly meaningless photos. The innocence of Fuu's youth, her mother's fading impression because of her early death, her father's abandonment, and fuu's glorification of him. sun flowers don't smell like anything. please just do yourself a favor and go watch the show.

I always saw it like this - in the beginning of the song she looks up like she's hopeful about something, her eyes are sparkling. After revisiting old memories of her family she realizes that it'll never be the same. Not only are they dead but she has also parted ways with Mugen and Jin and you can sense her pain and loss at the end when the hair covers her face and she's looking down. Now she's alone again.

On my first trip to Japan, I stayed in an older than old ryokan in Kyoto located in Ishibe-koji (a section of Gion). I quietly played this song while we set up for the night in our yukata on our tatami mats, the room'd paper windows carefully slid open for a bit of air as a few late-night folks hushingly walked by along the cobblestone streets. It was incredibly peaceful and lovely. If you have a chance to visit Japan, please do. As fun as Tokyo can be, Kyoto has so much ancient allure.
I usually skip watching ending credits but this one especially is the one I watch till the end. Best part is 0:35, I always laugh at that face lol. She's eating a rice ball with "umeboshi" in it which is not typically what kids like to eat in Japan.

Yeah, melancholy and nostalgia are definitely present
Wall of text incoming This ending is truly perfect. There are only two animated parts: the beginning and ending of the song, which are cemented as the present. The rest of the song are stills that dont quite paint a full picture but rather the emotions that Fuu felt. This serves a second purpose as a simple, beautiful backdrop that doesnt pull us away from the song. The song is the core of this ending, not the animation or story it's telling, and the creators recognized that by putting it on the front stage. The lyrics for this song are...poetic to say the very least. Look them up, they fit the song perfectly, they paint a story of a loved one leaving. Its descriptive and you might think it was written just for this ending. More on the narrative: Fuu starts the ending by looking at the ocean, crying as she's overwhelmed by emotion, where we see her childhood memories, bits and pieces of her life that she clearly remembers but also blurry memories of her dad, where he's obscured. At the end of the ending, Fuu is looking downwards and we see her from behind; the light from the horizon is no longer on her. All her memories were vibrant and bright, but now she's alone in the dark. We've now seen everything she's seen, its a painful and a heavy burden that she has to carry. Notice that the song doesnt end, it continues as everything fades out. She doesn't move on. I wouldn't hesitate to call this a masterpiece in every single way. Truly its a work of art that makes you feel. Thank you for reading.

The Mood and tone in the beginning of the beach scene is really strong
This song is beautiful. It's a cry of sadness and longing for days passed, moments of life that can never be held again. 1:10 literally sounds like Minmi is crying. That's raw, human emotion, and it fits the ending perfectly.
Every now and then I have to come back and rewatch this masterpiece...

This ending is very depressing, from the beginning scene to the end scene it's like fuu is on the beach by herself. It makes me think that jin and mugen died and fuu never made it to see the sunflower samurai.. of course this is all an anime series but if you think in a realistic perceptive that's how it really does end.

It's a 8pm, you just finished eating dinner. You then take a shower, after being cleaned in your comfortable clothes, you then turn on your tv. It switch the channel to Adult Swim, a Family Guy episode just ended, and now you're watching Samurai Champloo. After the episode, you get ready to go to bed with the tv still on, playing the outro song. You turn off your tv, and now you're sleeping. Goodnight

Flowers in the Spring , Dance within the sunshine Summer in Uji, Where all the fields are almost arabesque Full moon of Autumn, At times like these we celebrate a while As Winter time passes Again, we count the days ahead I'll never forget all the summer days with you I still can see when we gazed into the blue sky At that time it felt so warm when holding you While picking up a flower It seemed like time flew away And now I look to the past Memories will come my way... As I follow your path I know it will show the way... Flowers in the Spring , Dance within the sunshine Summer in Uji, Where all the fields are almost arabesque Full moon of Autumn, At times like these we celebrate a while As Winter time passes Again, we count the days ahead Each time the dawn arrives it means we'll leave again Now our fantasy becomes a distant dream Whenever it would seem as if the light you chased won't lead you back again Just remember the time when you embraced me and the warm summer breeze

Foreal.
This Ending really shows how sensitive and wistful Fuu is inside.
I just want to hug Fuu at the end, she looks so sad 😞😢😭

This song makes me sad cause it reminds me when i used to stay up late and watch this on adult swim.

Devon Pelley i am girl. Not a boy
This outro resonates deeply with me...just provokes so many emotions and memories and just has that mystical vibe....
This just screams early 2000s late night adult swim.
Calm asf😌
it’s 2019 and i’m still loving samurai champloo and their soundtracks! ❤️❤️❤️

When Adult Swims' Saturday night anime line-up was fire..
I remember falling asleep with my tv on sometimes and I would catch the ending outro of samurai champloo. Man hearing this was so heavenly that I thought I was dreaming, Ugh how ive miss those times.
Like a fine wine Champloo only gets better with time
The latter half with that part with sunflower image brought me absolute nostalgia of the time when I watched it in animax just to see the ecchi scene that must have been shown in its ad promo. That's why this is in very good anime outr playlist
I remember back in January 2016, when I was listening to anime radio, this song came out and I loved it soo much that I downloaded the song and watched the anime. 3 years later I still have this song on my phone, and when I listen to it I always repeat it, so I can remember 2016, and how it was the best year of my life

3am at Grandma's house vibes.
Pobre Fuu, recordando cuando era feliz al lado de sus padres.
So beautiful after an evil fight a song like this pops up
Just found this anime recently and finished it the other day. Only word I can find to describe it is classic .
2 years from now you'll see this
ahh smurai champloo, a show about two criminals spending what most would consider far too much time alone with an underaged girl in the woods
Every time this came on after the episode ended, it made me feel very relaxed and happy. It gave me another feeling too, but I can't explain it 😭
This anime really shows you nothing lasts forever. all the people I've met and never seen again, some I remember like it was yesterday and some I remember like dreams. The amazing childhood I had with family everywhere in one place. The times when I was just a kid watching this. Even right now will be gone one day no matter how much I like it. Although I don't regret anything and probably will think this about now someday, I would be lying if I said I didn't feel nostalgic.
