Hey guys, Taylor here and welcome to my review of Samsung's hw a 450 soundbar. Now I've had a lot of just really great comments and feedback on some of my other videos. And thank you so much for that. This is a product review that was highly requested. So here it is. And as you know, we always like to start out the video with do we recommend this product and who is it for. So in this case for the Samsung, a 450 soundbar, we do recommend it. And we're calling this one great bass on a budget. And while this soundbar definitely improves the sound over your TV speakers, due to some feature limitations, it might not be for everyone. The soundbar is really only for people with Bluetooth TVs, and is best suited for people with Samsung TVs. Because not only will it be easier to connect, but you can use your TV remote from both devices. However in this review, I offer a couple of options to overcome those issues. So stay tuned for that. And overall this is a great product with just a couple of minor issues. But we generally were very happy with the Samsung hw a 450 soundbar. So feel free to stick around for the rest of the review if you'd like so you can get all those details and decide if this soundbar is right for you. And as always, I'll add any helpful links in the description. So you can check out the latest price on any of this and other sound bars referenced in the video. So let's dive right in. Now this lightweight 33.9 inch soundbar is a lot thinner than many other units we've tried. Also it comes with a bonus, the wireless 13 and a half inch subwoofer. And for the price, it's pretty good, you can enjoy that deep bass sound right out of the box. It has six levels of bass control. And we found that level one was pretty sufficient for regular TV shows. Of course, if you really want to push it, you might just upset the neighbors a bit when you turn it up and hit the bass boost button. But hey, it's there if you need it. So let's break down a few technical specs for you. It's a 2.1 channel Dolby Digital soundbar with an output of 300 watts total. And the bar accounts for 80 of those which is more than what you have from pretty much any regular TV speakers, while the subwoofer accounts for the other 220. Now this product is designed to be Bluetooth directly to your TV without any setup required. And no matter what TV or device you have, once you make the first successful connection, the soundbar will remember the device and settings so you won't have to pair it again in the future. And the connection is pretty easy, especially if you have a Samsung TV as I mentioned earlier in my introduction. So that being said, Samsung has this great feature called sound Connect, which essentially makes it easier to connect Samsung devices or Bluetooth devices in general. And when you turn on your new soundbar it should automatically connect to your TV. Let us know in the comments below because we always love responding to those and we're always happy to help. Just one thing he didn’t mentioned is this soundbar has optic cable connection and cables are included as well. So if your tv doesn’t have a Bluetooth? Dont worry about it. I’m using it with my tcl tv. Trust me optic cable works like a charm! Unbelievable bass and sound. I’d recommend 100% this product.

I believe I do mention that Optical port on the video, and yes 100% agree optical cable work much better than bluetooth.

Yea, potential buyer here. Having already checked out the specs, I was sitting here listening to all the possible issues with bluetooth thinking "...or, OR, you could just use the optical cable they give you for free in the package and not worry about random/incorrect pairing, latency, etc". I really don't understand the fascination people have with wireless sound; it's more trouble than it's worth in a fixed installation like this where the devices are within a foot of each other. The fact that it has optical in and they give you a cable for free should have been much more strongly emphasized, as most TVs will have optical out (even my dinky budget 43" from 2016 had it), particularly since it was stated several times that it "only has bluetooth".

Just bought this for MYR600 or about USD150 ..its sufficient enough since I also bought together with Samsung 32 inch smart TV.. the surround sound and sub woofer are pretty good for a small price ..very recommended
So if I don't have compatible TV I won't connect subufer or what ? Can't I connect everything by optical cable ?

@@consumerbuddy5837 Think! Why include hdmi cable if it doesn’t have a hdmi input or output? See the point? Now, you left out that it includes an optical input besides bluetooth. Most people will use the optical connection instead of bluetooth since its a better connection type. No lag with optical, but lag with bluetooth 4.2. Fix your review!
Ciao ho acquistato questa soundbar ma volume molto basso e suono non pulito inoltre si sente un fastidioso ronzio sia nella sbarra che nel subwoofer.Se ascolto in BT si sente un po' più alto il volume ma subwoofer inesistente impostato +6 e modalità adptive sound.Solo sé metto a volume massimo si sente un po' il subwoofer,in generale qualità audio scarsa.Perche?
Only complaint is the volume for the sub.. not able too turn it up or down.

How does this compare to a430?
I bought it this week. However, there is something that strange to me: 1) When connecting the optical cable to the TV, the sound is not as loud as it is when it is with Bluetooth. Can you tell me if this is correct? Is there anything I can do to fix it? 2) When I'm watching a movie, sometimes the sound stops (only for a few seconds) and returns to normal. However, this happens several times and randomly. There aren't any devices around that can harm the Bluetooth connection. Could you tell me how I can fix this?

I don't know, haven't run through this issue yet. on my end all work fine. optical or bluetooth... both have good quality of sound output.

To raise the volume on the subwoofer just push up on the subwoofer marking on your controller like a joystick and it will go up I had the same issue. It doesn’t tell you on the manual that all you have to do is click up on the subwoofer knob on the controller that makes the volume go up just click it like a joystick or push it out like a joystick. You also do that for the volume so you don’t have to get up and adjust the sound bar
I just got this soundbar, but the tweeters make a very high pitched/ high frequency noise while playing music from my phone. It's this normal?

it's odd, because on my end... this soundbar high freq isn't really high even when you set high freq to +6

there is an optical cable input, so you can use that if your TV doesn't have bluetooth.
Awesome Video. So this is connecting automatically via Bluetooth even though I have the provided optical cable connected. (Not a deal breaker, just odd. But, how do I manage the things with the remote provided from the Samsung remote that came with my Q80 75"? Things like Woofer, Sound Mode, Settings, etc. I can navigate to a sound settings button on my smart TV and adjust an equalizer, but that's about it. I want to turn my bass up, but the remote that came with it doesn't seem to even register with the soundbar, how do I know if my TV remote is just superseding it?

Not sure if you're problem is solved, but I am guessing here - it seems like you can turn the Bluetooth off in the TV's settings, and that should in theory, remedy your issues

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it! As I said, the Samsung HW A450 is not for everyone, but if you are already in the Samsung ecosystem and have a Bluetooth-enabled Smart TV, then it is the perfect option. But it is not for everyone!
I don't have a Samsung TV but I have a Samsung smartphone. If I use these as speakers for my smartphone as well, do I risk it automatically connects to the smartphone instead of the TV each time? Thanks for the review!

the soundbar will connect automatically to whatever devices that already pair with it. so yeah, there is a chance after you use your phone, you will need to pairing again with your TV bluetooth.
Do the rear speakers require speaker wire?

it's wireless, and connected automatically soon after the power is on on the soundbar.

for sure there is an error in your device, maybe ask samsung costumer support for further assistant. I have no issue setting this soundbar at all. I can set SW to +6 just fine
I didn’t know the soundbar output is 80watts. Very interesting. Do you connection issues if you connect the soundbar via optical cable?

I have this soundbar - while it’s much better than the tv sound, here is a few issues I have come across. The soundbar is not nearly as loud when connected to optical cable vs Bluetooth. Not sure why there is a difference in maximum volume. Also if I try to connect via Bluetooth I do notice a decent amount of audio delay when watching streaming tv and movies. I have also noticed that when connected via Bluetooth the sound will randomly drop out for a second before starting again. Final issue - is when your playing a console like PS4 - the Samsung tv and soundbar with both change to Game mode. But if you then change back to normal tv, the tv turns off game mode. But the soundbar remains on game mode, so you have to manually change the sound mode each time. Wondering if anyone else has had these issues?

I have a solution. It work for me with this exact same soundbar. You need to buy analog to digital converter (20 box). You need to have a 3.5mm audio output on your TV. No more latency 😀

it should... especially the newer Samsung TV. and the good part is you can use your Samsung tv remote to control both this soundbar and your TV. :)
Why didn't they make a volume up and down button on the sound bar control. It has one on the sound bar listening to music you have to keep getting of the lounge and pressing it on the sound bar.

optical cable is the 2nd way to connect to this soundbar. so if there is none on your PC, then for sure you need to find another speaker for your PC. :D
