Samsung upped there game with the s23

I'm honestly shocked that the Galaxy was better than the iPhone, because usually the iPhone is great for video. This is coming from an S23 Ultra user, so I'm very happy tbh haha

Some people say iphone has best video This is actually accurate, iphone mostly produce brighter video than samsung. But it turns out there are some blowup bright area in it. Samsung is darker but better for me. But when it comes to lowlight, samsung tend to make their video brighter, so it turns out, it is noisy, iphone keep it natural in dark and make it look clean and better. For sharpness and details, they are actually both equal, even some reviewers says they like iphone more even tho in their comparison content samsung did better in some video department.

I currently have an S20+, and for a moment I thought about switching to an iPhone instead of getting an S23U, but I think it is clear that it is not worth making the change to an iPhone if we are talking about a cameras.

iPhone camera and video is still much better and pocketed are more accurate to what you see with your eyes. However if you like the over saturated look you can adjust a setting on the iPhone and achieve that as well, although I don’t know why anyone would want to?

​@@robhughes8516 rly?, don't you see on the video that the iPhone has serious problems with focus?, on top of the washed out style of image and bad auto white balance. If you are looking for a compact phone, then the S20+ is perfect, and the camera is as good as the S20U. And if you are really into photography, you can always use raw photo function and adjust the “the over saturated look”.

I really really want to switch over to Samsung, I have not had the best experience with my iPhone 12. It takes beautiful videos but that's the only thing I have truly enjoyed over my Android experience. This video has me excited to try out either the ultra, or maybe the new flip. Im someone who would actually love using the stylus because I'm always jotting things down, so maybe that's the way to go. Great content Emiel, support all the way from Trinidad 🇹🇹

Congratulations for the video. I'm a video enthusiast and I've noticed some jumps and micro jitters in panoramic video shots (video shooting from right to left and left to right) that I don't like. Is this a problem that persists even with the latest updates? With iphone 14 pro does this problem exist? I'm undecided about a possible purchase. Thanks for the reply.

While I certainly understand the convenience of the S23 & IPhone, but wouldn't it be a more fair comparison to add an ECM-B1M on the FX-30 for sound and unsure if mentioned what gimbal was utilized (DJI RS 3 or other), I did see mention of the Sony 10-20mm F4 G lens for this test but it does not have image stabilization (was this intentional?) Why not the chonky Tamron 17-70mm F/2.8 that does offer image stabilization? Please be gentle, I am learning. All information is appreciated.

I don’t think so, I didn’t use external sound for the phones and no gimbals..so they are compared the same, as they are. And about the lens, it’s a native sony lens, small light weight. So a small light weight sony setup compared to the popular phones. Thnx for your comment!

feels like FX30 makes everything look more like film, bit soft at moments etc, both phones feel a bit like shooting with a camcorder. Cool to see how far phones are coming. Think they both are starting to get level on when a phone would be the easier option versus a camera. I'd like to ad if there was a camera company (think Sony would be the one to do it,) making a mirrorless with a camera AI and a dedicated camera android os that would not only be the best of both worlds think that company could well be the next market leader

When you did your work did you change and lock the iPhone to raw so you could use the full 48mp sensor? If not, it was locked to 12mp (unless you kept the Samsung at the same 12mp and not the full 200mp). Good stuff.

“ProRes”, how it’s called in video (ProRaw is for photo)..is only supported in “HD 1080P 30fps”…And bad autofocus or crazy white balans have nothing to do with the type of file that u choose..

@@emielkeultjes First, great video really cool to bring in a proper camera to compare. Second, I believe 4k ProRes is gaited by storage size, you can use it with 256GB and up, but I remember the 128 being locked to lower, and lastly, ProRaw in my experience has been so much easier to work with as a super average camera user, I had a hard time fixing up pixel 7 and s23 ultra raw files honestly but proraw was super easy to change. Smartphones and laptops these days are insane, almost impossible to go wrong.

It only take data from gyro in sensor and write that to the file and then you put that in Sony Catalyst to make Active Stabilisation. This test is for Samsung fanboys. Why you trying to show something that it can't be shown?

@@lucasn82_ no stab in sensor😂 I always! use active stab in body! On my Sony Fx3 and Fx30......And that is very usable/good for real filmmaking in my professional opinion. If you would also read some of my response to others here u will notice that I solly have been using Apple for over 10 years! So I am not a Samsung fanboy......I am disappointed in Apple too!

Great video like always, please tune down the music . I need a dj to be able to hear you. You voice is so low and i need to turn up the volume and the kicks the music which is to loud. Keep the nice words Im going to switch my iphone 14 pro max its slow , the camera is so bad my iphone eleven shines in comparison. I guess apple have lost its magic touch

Now I feel like selling my fx30. My S23 ultra can do everything with the added superb stabilization. Breaks my heart to say that the Samsung is more convenient to use in real lofe, better a.i. and the permformance is almost just as good without the added hassle.

Have you ever tried motioncam app for s23u? I think a comparison of sony fx30 with s23u using motioncam would be amazing as you could record raw video with motioncam app

how it comes that all reviews shows iPhone 14 pro max using way more contrast for the rear camera then s23 ultra , but in your test its s23 ultra that's more contrasty 😃 and I've seen like 30 of them , also skin tones often iPhone gets right in the rear camera and s23 ultra pale and lighter, here its opposite 😃

@@emielkeultjes sure you did a great job with the video overall ! just saying Im choosing myself so I saw like almost every comparison they I found and mostly it all lines up to iPhone having contrasty better video and portrait video, brighter selfie video and photos overall s23 ultra got better. With night video being more exposed for brighter and more noisy o 23 ultra and darker with 14 pro max. But definitely wonky stuff going on haha. Wishing all the best, Ive just sold my 12 pro max it was throttling brightness in the summer

What I see mostly in other reviewers Iphone intend to have brighter video. Which is what really showing in here. Samsung always a bit darker, but in cinematic way.

@@BPGamer0110 to be honest there's one major issue with all these videos and comparisons. And that's iPhones video as 4k 30 is different story , then 4k 60 is always darker then 4k 30 and it's very bad choice for low light, then there's HDR and that posses 2 additional problems , iPhones HDR video is tricky to edit and some programs or creator might completely shifted colours or partially mess up something during coversion to a standard depth video , as these iphones HDR videos are 99% being converted to SDR, either by iPhone by sharing as SDR or later on in a editing program and as I said someone can mess it up. So easiest it's 4k 30 no HDR to compare , HDR content need someone experienced to convert it the right way and check the colours . Just KZread iPhone HDR editing problem

I m agree that out of the box and in auto mode the phones are much better, including portability. Fx30 will be much better with lenses and using all the capabilities….

Hi, gf have a s23u and I decided to buy an iPhone 14 Pro max. Such a shame this pieceof apple. Really. Video at night- so poor. Especially in hdr performance and stabilisation. Also had some troubles with autofocusing, photos at night with bright objects- such a trash. And after all- its laggy in games. Really, after 20min it starts to struggle(wreckfest game). Im really angry with all "tech" reviews that lauds iphones...

Normality the sony fx30 win when you make s better lens. F4 vs F1.8 F1.9 from the smartphones??? With a better lens have the smartphones no chance. Yes samsung than better to iphone

​@@emielkeultjes I'm testing the iPhone 14 Pro max and the galaxy s23 ultra , trying to decide which h to keep. Both have their issues, however, I would agree with your results. I find the galaxy ro produce some fantastic photos, then it will let itself down and take some shots that look.very artificial, almost like a drawing. I have taken some shots with an iPhone 13 standard for. Comparison and often they are better than both of the others

I'm thinking of getting iphone 14pro max purely for social media. The video quality uploaded to Instagram is awful on Samsung even when highest quality settings are used. Can you please a do social media eg Instagram, tiktok, twitter etc video upload quality test for s23 ultra and 14pro max. Thanks
