I’m hearing that color is a bit saturated in hdr gaming from other reviewer. Do you notice it at all? I’m debating between this at 85” or the g2 83” . Gaming is very important for me so I want the best gaming tv.

Game Motion Plus! You already know I love that feature I might be the GMP spokesperson at this point😂. BTW you nailed the use case perfectly one thing though if you want it to feel like 120fps on the 60fps performance mode on games try blur 10 and judder 0. Thanks for showing it, people sleeping on GMP.

Really interesting - on console game motion plus is greyed out unless you turn of VRR. If you are connected to a PC though - it's greyed out! Im trying to find out why that is!

That’s how I play now and it feels so smooth. I’ve payed battlefield 2042, demon souls, and death stranding and my jaw dropped.I do use performance when I use it tho, I haven’t tried it on resolution mode but I’m going to try it out. I had a Sony 900e and when I would turn on the motion there will be a lot of jidder and higher input lag but I would still feel immerse. I do miss reality creation tho.

I mean if you gonna have a panel set on 120 hz from your seriesX basically you don't gonna need motion plus in your games. I play Hogwards Legacy at 120 fps with VRR off on my seriesX and my new QLED Q70b TV and it looks absolutely amazing.

Hi Joelster, Did you check if local dimming settings affect your input lag in game mode or not? I so a video where a guy tested it and measured 50ms input lag if dimming is set to high, and 15ms if it is set to low. What is the truth?

Your HDR settings look solid , especially on the Xbox. How many brightness clicks on the Xbox HDR Calibrator do you have it set to? I can't seem to get my HDR to look "right" to me.

I have the 55inch model. And, ever since the power went out in my area. Now my ps5 will only play in lpcm 2.0. How do I fix this? My center button don't bring up the info on the tv since the power went out as well. And another thing. Is there a way to get to the source page quicker? Like my old Sammy. I just pressed 1 button and it brought up my sources. Contrast & Color is grayed out for me.

Does the QN90B have the game mode local dimming issues of the QN90A? That had terrible issues with the local dimming being really delayed and also blowing out the brightness of icons on areas like the PS5 menu and UI of games.

I did Game Motion Plus on RDR2, wow man!! It’s really like a 60FPS game! Only downside is when I’m spinning the camera around fast there’s definitely noticeable ghosting and like a glitch looking thing around Arthur’s head but it’s worth it dammit haha looks stunning. Rockstar won’t give us a 60FPS patch we’ll make our own!!! 😎

I drop the camera sensitivity a bit when using game motion plus to minimize artifacting and ghosting. It interpolates much better when you arent turning the camera too fast

The picture quality, color accuracy and black levels look almost like a OLED! Looks great! Heard they had some type of blooming bug issues When it first launched but I'm assuming after it's been out for a while and all the firmware updates that released, it's good now? Also how is the internal sound quality? Has some good bass?

I find the sound very good but the sub 4k picture quality in game mode is significantly worse. Doesnt do 4:3 in game mode either. Not good

Oleds look godaweful with 30fps. Being that the Samsung is led. How is the 30 fps image? I’d love to see 30fps without any of the tv settings to smooth it out.

You think QN95A would be much worse? :) Its very cheap now. Or 1k + worth? :) and meniu on qn95a also so slugish?

After testing and messing around for days on my QN90B, I found my sweet spot for PC (gaming + hdr movies): Brightness 30 Contrast 50 Sharpness 0 Color 25 Local dimming High Con. enhancer 0 Warm 2 Gamma St.2084 0 Shadows -3 Color space DCI-P3 when watching movies I set contrast enhancer to low and I find it perfect, delivers enough boost light that it's not annoying. I get accurate colors and very good deep blacks with these settings I collected from most videos I watched including this one ! Great vid man!

Note: Every TV needs different settings to achieve the same thing because slight difference in hardware. But this could be a starting point.

I mean what's this mentality with the sharpness at 0bro?. I the sharpness in my Q70B at 10 and it looks amazing, when I reduce it to 0 it's just plain bad looking and horrible texture details,I mean WTF. In game mode I even have sharpness higher like 12 for absolutely amazing highlights.🙄

@ADISTOD3MUS I think sharpness above zero generally looks terrible. In fact, some games actually could use a negative sharpness setting because they're overly sharp, noisy, and digital looking. These are the games that tend to look better on my CRT and plasma TVs. I wish more TV makers would include negative sharpness values (like Sony does) to allow for customization according to the content and preferences of the user.

Can you explain why Judder is at 10 value?

Back in 2019 I bought a Samsung Q70R together with a PS4 Pro. As a PC gamer the 30fps locked games felt really choppy. Everybody adviced against using GMP, but it was actually MUCH better with it. It felt like playing the games in 60fps. I play only SP games though, so the increased input lag wasnt noticeable.

The games that I played (God of War, Horizon, ...) were mostly 30fps locked. Some had performance mode for more fps (like God of War), but I didnt use it, since it wasn't constant enough for my taste. Again, only talking about the games I played. Should've have specified that.

@@SubZero8007 yeah true, on God of War, Spiderman and other story games run on High Res/30fps but you can switch them to Performance mode for a lower resolution but with 50/60fps. Overall GMP is a cool feature especially if you want to favour higher resolution with smoothness making it feel close to 60fps, even though it's still 30fps. 😅

I have the Samsung Q70T QLED I’ve been going back and forth with the “Shadow Detail” setting in HDR because even when I have it at zero it has this white fog over the picture it’s especially noticeable in dark black caves it looks washed out so I set it to -3 and it looks great.. The shadows still have detail at -3 blacks and all colors pop. Any thoughts?

I also use negative 3 and have since my last samsung. 0 just isn't correct. I used the long night scene from game of thrones to confirm that black was black.

Input and refresh rates are lower than the required ms requirements for 120 fps content meaning there is really no difference for games. You will have to decide purely on picture alone.

Does the game still look as clear and run as smooth now as it did when you made this video? I just bought this TV and this game in resolution mode with GMP active and judder maxed doesn't look smooth or sharp at all, looks as if it's not working on this set. Maybe updates for the game or the firmware since your original post have changed something? Or is it still the same for you?

Thanks, I dont have the QN90A but I am going to compare it with my C1 48" Oled.

Many people complained that the game motion plus did not work on qn90a.(functinality broken i.e. no difference between GMP on and off). I understand from your video that this problem is resolved for the 2022 lineup (qn90b). Good news.

I have a QN85A and GMP works fine. Perhaps the person with the QN90A on the forums just can't tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps.

@@skullfist7885 I had a closer look to the video and unfortunatly i actually don't see any evidence of game motion plus working on this footage. To my eyes everything seem to run at 30 fps even with GMP on. Sorry for this but if you see a GMP plus working on this current video please tell me at which time exactly because i cannot see it. About my comment about people that complain that GMP do not work on 2021 lineup please check the video "Samsung Qled 65q77a Game Motion Plus doesn't work" and you will see a perfect example of what i mean: in this video we can see clearly that the framerate is the same with GMP on or off, whereas it is boosted when activating the "motion plus" functionnality in standard mode (i.e. outside game mode).

@@NexGenTek Sorry i don't understand what you say ... nevermind, i checked at 3:45 when the 'favor performance mode' is selected. This mode is known to run at 60 fps and it definitly displays on this video 30 fps not 60 fps (even though my youtube selected resolution is 1080p60, 1440p60 or 2160p60) . For me the conclusion is that this video has been either shooted at 30 fps or encoded at 30 fps and its not possible to see on this video the benefit of GMP interpolation in the 'favor resolution mode' (i.e 30fps --> 60fps-looking). We have to rely on and trust what the author of the video says i.e 'GMP is working'. Unfortunatly, i could not find yet a single youtube video which actually shows a proof that GMP is working on 2021 or 2022 Samsung TV.

How about normal tv shows, rtings states this "Some noticeable stutter in slow-panning shots." do find this to be true on your tv??

It's not an issue. It's only an issue with content mastered in unique fps capture like a bbc 50 or 25fps but that has always been a problem. You can also see it on different streaming services. The Orville has no stutter on hulu but it stutters from disney plus so thr content is where the stutter comes from, tv is fine.

All 3 modes work just fine. High has about a half second lag standard is less than that and low is near instant. All work. You can't see the lag in lit content it happens with stark high to low like opening or closing a menu screen, very noticable in elden ring if you open the map.

First video I've seen so far that covers gaming more in depth. I'm looking at two very different monitors now that cannot be compared directly, so for me it's a question of price. I'm evaluating the QN90B from Samsung or the new Sony A95K. As I said, it's a question of price. So far it's just been released a sticker price for the A95K so I'm just going to sit back and see if there will be any deals around or not. Paying the full retail for that A95K is a bit hefty, so I'm just going to sit on the fence for now and see how this pans out. No rush.

There is high speculation that the S95B and A95K will not have any price breaks at all. The yields and availability of both of them are going to be far lower than Samsung's QLED's.

Right now I wouldn't buy a Sony TV for gaming. They were very late with the VRR feature and when it got introduced, it didnt work as intended. Don't know if they've fixed all problems (we'll see), but for gaming Samsung TVs are the best.

I know this post is old but if you get an OLED with the purpose of playing on an underpowered (for anything 4k) PlayStation or Xbox, so no pc gaming..& you’re a decerning person. You are going to hate 30fps on an instantaneous technology like OLED.

@@OniMirage Sony reality creations seems to be the best upscaling I've witnessed so far, haven't got my hands on Samsung yet but if you can't set the upscaling manually like Sony and LG then might be for me.

Great video, thanks for the effort! Maybe you or someone can help me though. I have 43" QN90B but no matter what I do I can't turn on Game HDR, only can enable HDR10+ and the game bar always shows HDR as OFF when I'm using rhe XBOX Series X. In the XBOX settings I've selected HDR to be enabled (as well as 120Hz, 4K, VRR just for your information). Hope you or someone can help as it's a great TV but I think I'm missing out on an important feature 😕

Settings, connection, external device manager plus, turn on the input to enable hdr from external content. If that's done already it might be your cable.

Yes, local dimming works with Freesync, 120hz, HDR, Atmos, no issues.

@@beammeupscottsp7952 It does, you just have to find it. It's not in picture settings, it's in game mode settings, accessible from the game bar. It can't be turned on if VRR is active, but it works otherwise.

We got the same settings except for contrast enhancer. I turn it off because it crushes black to introduce more contrast. Its good on brighter scenes but bad on night scenes in games, it crushes blacks.

It's because you have your HDMI black level wrong in your TV. Contrast enhancer on high will always look better no matter what TV you have, considering you have the right HDMI black level set right of course.

@ADISTOD3MUS lol I know all of that and you are wrong. Contrast enhancer blows out highlight and crushes blacks. Thats what it does to have the illusion of higher contrast. You have no idea about shadow detail and highlight details so pls educate yourself first

Overly sharp, overly exaggerated and unnatural contrast, crushed blacks...I can honestly say this is a lot of what I hated about my LG CX. ​@@cyberedge881No one cares what you dislike or not. Everyone has to calibrate their TV's how they like. My TV came out of the the box with Auto HDMI black level and it wasn't worked for my seriesX,. The HDMI black levels denomination in Samsung TVs has changed from 2021 and above models and actually right now the Normal it's limited which works perfectly with consoles and low it's full RGB PC,it was exactly opposite before 2021. Also the Contrast enhancers in newer TVs does work perfectly for mid /High end ones and they actually have an important role for not crushing blacks or having a broken soupy washed out image. Also Sharpness it's by default 10 (which means 0) in every Samsung TV and if you gonna lower it you gonna actually have negative sharpness . I have all my calibration in my seriesX and TV done in professional level and my HDR/HDR content looks absolutely amazing with deep black,full shadow details and warm colors. Before commenting nonsense with your "friend" about me here you should actually inform yourself about how each brands have different settings from HDMI black levels to sharpness, color bit,white points,auto Motion Plus which by the way if you just activate it without touching the blurr and judder for an 60fps title it would offer you a way better and sharp image in game mode without actually increasing your input lag (it's only 3 milliseconds difference from Fastest to Faster which it's basically= with 0) etc, etc. You guys should stop living in 1999 with plasma TV's in mind and actually stop deactivating every great features in your 2.500$ + high end TV's just to accomplish the "director intent". All of this " calibrators" tell you to deactivate most of the stuff in your TV and you wonder why when using contrast enhancers end up with crushed blacks, it's absurd. Other things it's about picture clarity settings (which I use with Blurr on 10 and judder on 4 for avoiding the soap opera effect in my KZread, Netflix,SDR content in general) which every "expert" tell you to not use but it ended up for me actually getting rid of all my color banding in every content since I use it so yeah,good riddance with your 1999 settings.🥴😂

Hey joelster. I just bought a 55 inch qn90b but game motion plus is noticeably less smooth than auto motion plus. It barely smooths the games I figured. Am I doing something wrong?

The QN85B is only tv available in my country should I go for it? I dont want to buy OLED as I cant afford buying a new tv when it has a burn in risk

Yes, it is a great tv as well, I reviewed the QN85A last year and the picture is fantastic, but there was blooming at an angle, you have to be sitting right in front of it.

Hi I had a question about the 120 Hz on this model since I got the QN90B 55 inch. I want to the settings of video output and screen in video and the 120 heart is set to automatic and the frequencies that it reads on my TV is up 21 120 Hz and then I change from resolution mode to performance mode in the PS5 settings and then I have a game that goes up to 120 hz even though it's not exactly 120 Hz such as God of war horizon and Miles Morales. Those games I could only see go up to like 80 or 90 fpsmax. So once those settings are on, it still shows 4K60 when I boot up the PS5 until I actually have to load the game and then play The Game and while playing The Game I hit the button on the remote and on the top right of the TV it's showing the Hz going up and down, to the 70s,80s,90s, range. Instead of just saying 120hz because I'm assuming it depends on the game that is has to be exactly 120hz for it show like Call of Duty and other titles? just depending on the game but the frequency is still working of 4K120hz right? All the ports are HDMI2.1 on the TV and the input signal plus in the TV settings is enabled of the ports I'm connected to.

I'm sorry for being the one that tells you but the only versions that support 144Hz and 4k are the 43" and 50" versions of this model All the others have a limit of 60Hz I'm not sure why you are getting those specs though, but Samsung even tells you that the versions from 55" - 85" aren't able to run up to 120Hz

That it shows 48-120hz VRR. Not the typical 4K120hz display text like other ppl seeing. And if that's the sane thing if its activated. Depending on the game if it supports 120hz, since the PS5 is different then XSX in trying to activate 120hz of games you play. Never misinformed anyone. Lol! Think about using frame doubling with the RTX 4000-series and also apply game motion plus on really slow pased games. You could by that bump the settings so high that it the game runs at 15fps naitively and simulate a 60 fps experience from that. :D Although the inputlag would increasy to about 60ms on top of the already high inputlag from the 15 fps... but still?! :)

Nice. But I heard this tv isnt very good with colour daturation on hdr games. Do you agree with this?

I don't know what they mean with color daturation, colors look fantastic and they are consistent thruout the time I've been gaming. If you mean saturation all you need to do is reduce the color adjustment bar from 30 to 25, I showed the settings I am using in this video, I also included time stamps so you can jump straight to that point.

Yes,i tried that myself on my seriesX and my Samsung Q70B 55 QLED tv when I play division 2 for example and it makes absolutely everything looks way better even that game it's already 60fps. I have game mode ON and ONLY activating the Game motion Plus without touching the blurr and judder everything become more good looking and colorful and what's most important I don't feel any lag increased. By the way my TV in game mode had some weird stuff on screen in the dark images ( like weird artifacts ONLY when looking up and down fast in the darkness) and activating Game MP got rid of all that too, absolutely amazing.

So no artifacts? Because on the LG C2 de-judder has massive artifacts.

On the C1 you can do that just put it on auto and the game feels like 120fps and doesn’t add a lot input lag

Input lag with motion plus on with c1 is around 90 ms. This does it better with less input lag below 30 ms

I think if you use VRR on Ps5 instead of using game motion plus on tv, you probably will use the full or more than 60FPS.

VRR is only if it drops frames, its for unlocked framerated games, Horizon runs at either 30fps or 60fps.

I was trying to figure out why the Xbox wasn't allowing 120Hz on my new QN90B. Turned out it was the limitation of the receiver that everything is plugged in to. Can only do 60Hz at 4K.

Connect the xbox directly to the TV and then the tv to the receiver using eARC, that way you can fully use all the gaming features and Dolby atmos audio.

@-Bellic- Well you are very misinformed, the QN90B is a mini LED TV with HDMI 2.1 on all of their ports, it has all the gaming features including 4k120hz on all sizes and 144hz on 43" and 50" versions, go buy one and tested out yourself. Make a video and proof me wrong instead of going and misinforming people.

Ok hear me out for this one. Some games like Plague tale requiem and unpatched old games like rdr2 are locked at 30 fps. These games will benefit greatly from game motion plus to look like 60. However, for 60 fps games, use VRR because VRR will smooth out drops from 60 fps. Game motion plus wont look good when fps is dropping. Game motion plus is the best when the game itself is locked at a specific fps and wont drop

The brightness in game mode on HDR without contrast enhancer is nerfed so hard… I don’t like using it but have no Choice

Is it possible to use it on PC? I've never been able to... Somebody help.

It could be the version hence the versions from 55" - 85" have Quantum HDR 32x and the 43" and 50" versions for this model only have HDR 24x The official site says that these versions only support micro dimming But the good thing is that these versions support up to 144Hz and 4k The versions from 55" and above only support 60Hz and 4k

@@-Bellic- Hey friend thanks for the reply. I have the 55, and apparently it was a language issue as I was using native Greek and the local dimming option appears only when you use native English for reason. Now the 55 model functions at 120hz just fine, I'm a ps5 user and that TV really is something else. I literally have nothing negative to say for gaming or movies, it's just flawless if you don't care about the slight blooming it has when bright objects appear in very dark scenes if you are in a very dark room.

My tv open for motion plus is greyed out. Is that because I have my Xbox Series X settings at 120 hz?

I have Game Motion Plus enabled on my QN90B, but the moment I turn on Blur Reduction, judder reduction or LED Clear motion on my Nintendo Switch it looks like there's some stuttering/frame rate drops, especially noticeable when I play a 2D sidescroller.

Higher motion clarity will make stutters more apparent if they are present in the content. For example, Uncharted Drake's Fortune in the Uncharted collection has microstutters that are noticeable if I'm using LED Clear Motion on my QN90B, which is how I usually use it. So for games like this I usually disengage LED Clear Motion and the blur helps to hide the stutters.

@BeamMEupScottsP To me BFI is one of the most important features in a modern TV. I've mostly used CRTs and plasmas in the past and the motion clarity they provided is just as important as the image quality itself. Luckily the QN90B has an amazing BFI mode and maintains it's picture quality exceptionally well. My LG CX looked terrible with BFI engaged, since it was way too dim and dull, with desaturated colors.

I cant decide between the qn90b or s95b

Really depends on use cases, best HDR? QN90B, no burn in risk and the absolute best LCD in the world. If you want an oled for the perfect blacks and don’t think your use case will cause burn in then go for it. Personally I’ve already had oled burn in once. So I’m not going to go oled again. The blacks on this tv are insane and the QN90B looks incredible.
