There are a few additional steps to move from download mode to recovery mode. I struggled for an hour and didn't succeed with the steps shown in video. I later found out that there are other key combinations ( maybe only on my tab) . After writing with Odin, from the download screen go to revcovery as follows: HOME + VOL DOWN + PWR BTN until black screen appears and immediately move your finger from VOL DOWN to VOL UP (home still pressed) and when the Samsung logo appears release the PWR button. I tried the combinations in the video for 1 hour and also changed the twrp versions. I hope it will be helpful, I see that there are more people with this problem, it was solved for me. Thanks for the video, you helped me reuse a tablet that was lying in a drawer.

Battery life seems good. In short I'm very pleased with it

Mr. Steve - I came across your fantastic video last September (9-21). I am not that great at computers but I do my best. I watched & re-watched numerous times before making an attempt, and when I did I ended up with Tablet that is in major need of help. Please let me know what I did wrong and please point me in the right direction on how to fix this! As I said, I got through all the steps, this is the exact model as you show, wifi only, etc...When I turn it on there is no flash screen at startup, and I can barely see the screen after it is powered on. Any thoughts?

Hi man, not sure what has gone wrong there, what i would do if force the tablet into download mode, and use the sammobile.com site to grab the official firmware for it, using odin you can flash the tablet back (recovery and download mode are 2 different things). Once its back on stock id recheck that the bootloader has been unlocked and follow the latest guide over on xda, i think its been upgraded a bit since i done this video, having a quick look over the steps it looks pretty much the same unlock bootloader flash twrp, move rom and gapps over, install both in order, then boot, instgak magisk if needed. Hope this helps. I no longer have the tablet unfortunatly or id make a video for you man on how to undo it. But its a similar process to flashing, but you use odin to flash the samsung rom rather than twrp

OK, so I figured this out. You must first enable Developer Mode (tapping on the Build Version under Settings 7+ times), and when doing the wiping, you have to first "Format Data" to erase the storage and any encryption keys

HI buddy, you can only really do your usual google back up, but what you can do is when you are in twrp recovery, you can click backup, it will do a full rom copy of your stock tablet, and that way you have an image if anything happens

try to have a look for nano gapps for the version of android you installed. i had to do a reflash and then reflash the gapps on it for the play store to work correctly on other devices.

Does widevine still say L1? I'm just curious if these custom ROMs remove the ability for streaming services like netflix to stream in HD.

If i remember right mines worked for netflix hd and disney and amazon, so im gonna say yes, it was a little bit ago, but fairly sure, you could use TWRP to do a backup of your whole system tho, do the new rom flash and if it doesnt you can restore from that back up and put it right back to the way it was

default. grab the rom for it from sam mobile and use odin to flash. ive never bricked one yt (although though i had several times, always worked for a restore)

I'm tech illiterate completely, so I'm wondering if there's any way possible to upgrade my samsung galaxy Tab A6 SM-T280 version 5.1.1 ? long shot I know but I'm too broke to go buy a new tablet and I'm sick of everything saying "this is incompatible with your device". not to sure buddy a quick look over on xda dev says that looks like just need to reboot back into twrp to get it to work. Might be best to search the error on xda developers , they will know a lot more than myself :)

Perfect, just a couple of suggestions: Firstly enable Developer mode, USB debugging and OEM unlock Secondly, before wiping, format /data partition, to get rid of Samsung encryption. Thank you!

Hi buddy, yeah the point of installing the gapps is the google play apps man, so everything works, and the tablet already was certified for like netflix and amazon so should still hold the cert for it

I use plugged in but it's all dependant on your phone , if you get good battery life it's fine if not it will die faster

Hi buddy, yes you will need the gapps on the sd card itself, then you would install it from the same section you install the rom from in the custom bootloader, remember to wipe dalvik cache when complete :)

im stuck on 4:46, on that screen, holding 3 buttons recovery starts and "swipe" touch not responding now

sounds like either the wrong version of TWRP buddy or a bad install, either way id fire it into fastboot, get the latest or a known working version for the tablet and give it another whirl

Hi. My tablet is dead, stuck on booting Samsung logo. When I go to odin and try to upload recovery by AP I can't do it because of FRP lock. Is there Any way to remove it?

Well good thing is your getting the logo so its recoverable, not that ive ever botched it enough to brick something fully. Id try reinstall odin, or try another version, maybe try redownload adb drivers, and another cable (cables suck), and then just give it a whirl again trouble shooting as you go, should be good to go after that

The likely hood is there won't be any more tbh buddy, the fact we got this was amazing, but it's kinda the same to upgrade it , called a dirty flash, you flash over the ROM but it keeps all your apps and details, usually without any problems

First I would use Odin to restore it back to Samsung official firmware. Then I would make sure that the OEM bootloader option is set to unlocked and go through the flashing process again, sounds like twrp only wrote to live memory rather than rom, which seems permission based possibly.

sounds like either it hasnt flashed, or its boot looped, which can happen, would double check you have the right version, reflash through odin, and retry buddy

I follow the steps, on the first step, when I flashed TRWP odin say FAIL, in the tablet show the message: Custom Binary(Recovery) Blocked By FRP Lock Now I can't shut down or reboot. Also Odin do not detect any COM Port, so I can't flash a Stock ROM What can I do? I bricked??

Ok.. I was able to reboot pressing POWER+Volume UP+Volume Down. Then I activate Debug mode and disable OEM on developer mode, now it is FRP Lock: OFF!

In saying that you have like android 6 before. So going up like 5 os revisions is pretty amazing for a tablet of this age

would need the t585 version of the rom but yes the flashing process is the same, follow the link and go back a section and look for the r585 version

Used it for a few weeks before I sold the tablet, only one issue which was an easy fix, the ROM had brighnes control from running your finger over the top bar, once disabled I had no more.issues , was used daily, and remeber you can always go back to which ever ROM you wish buddy

Bit of a problem.... I have a T585 and LineageOS from the above link is no longer supporting this version of the tablet. There is another dev supporting it but it has sound problems. Peace

amazing. It was at the point the tablet was set for a landfill imo. so bogged down with samsung bloat ware, such a new lease on life. was like an old dog turning back into a puppy

The link for the Android 11 rom takes me to an Android 13 rom ... is it all the same apart from that? Asking coz I'm unfamiliar with this kind of thing. Thx. James

This guide is a few years old now but yes looking at it the process is the same, but you will get an android version 2 versions newer, just always check your model against the ones in the title of the ROM, so if it says sm-t580 only and you have a t585 then it won't work obviously m

@@mrsteve2441: Yes. It says "[ROM][SM-T580][UNOFFICIAL][64-Bit][crDroidAndroid-13.0][v9.4]" so I assume that's OK and everything else is the same. Thanks :) EDIT: Success! I actually tried another video (Rostislav Valouch) which got me past the only bit left I couldn't make work, the post Odin reboot. Instead of using the three keys (home, vol-up and power) he used the same power on ones (home, vol-up and power) to turn it off THEN used the other ones.

LinageOS 18.1 the link does not work. the link goes to a 19 version beta. this version works well? what s the issues? camera problems etc? thanks.

dunno buddy, the update will usually fix stuff and give new features, its ongoing, no one expected 18.1 nevermind 19 :), check the xda page for it, best thing to do it read the comments section, last few pages will likely show users with problems or praising it one of the 2

think it only goes to version 7 for your device. I would check over at XDA developers for your model and see whats there, you will get a rom thats better than what you have, but version wise might not be as new as 11,12 or 13

Dose lineage os 19.1 works will for that device?

I'm getting a failure on Odin: Added!! Odin engine v(ID:3.1100).. File analysis.. SetupConnection.. Complete(Write) operation failed. All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1) I think it's related to the following error "Custom Binary (RECOVERY) Blocked by FRP Lock"). I think (not sure) that if I can get past that I'd be able to upgrade. I've managed to get into developer mode as per one of the comments below but it's still failing.

Frp lock is a Google lock buddy, pretty sure you have to disable that from accounts section on the device. From memory it's like iCloud lock but googles version, if your device is frp locked and you don't have the account used for it your out of luck

I just watched this. I bought a Samsung galaxy tab A8, 2022,running Android 11.I have a Galaxy tab A6 2016 that is so much better than the new A8. Can't return it, so I want Android 11 on my 2016 Tab A6. Can you help me. 🙏👍

All instructions in the video buddy :), click the xda link its a newer version but its the same flashing procedure, some models vary tho so just need to check that and your good my friend

I did this process and everything worked then upon restarting it won't boot and gives me "Custom binary blocked by FAP lock" in the upper left corner. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Yeah actually, i had this one time when doing a friends phone, so since your already flashed the easiest way is to find some software that will unlock it, there is loads of paid ones but a few free one. Not sure the one we used at the time, You want to look for FRP bypass software. The other way is to flash it back to stock, in settings use the OEM unlock feature, or reflash the files, it can be the file type that causes it for some flashed, like the .tar files sometimes have the md5 at the end like filename.tat.md5, you would delete the md5 part, so its now a compatible binary which will flash. But id go the software route, gotta be a free easy to use one with a quick google

@@mrsteve2441 thanks for getting back to me. I went back to the stock ROM, used the OEM unlock, then reloaded everything and ran an FRP killer just to be sure. Working perfectly now.

It won't. I am also looking for this model, but it seems there are no rooms for p580 or p585 models since they weren't much popular.

jts got in a dowloand os loop and when its done,i turn off and on and keeps doing the same process

double check the files downloaded and do a reflash, try a dalivik cache clear a few time

........pass. Id say no ?, your not breaking the law for unlocking a bootloader of a device you have paid for and own. Its not a rom like a game so id say your fine. If are unsure and care about it being illegal i would maybe give the video a pass

hmm odd. never had that myself, but they were old tablets, cant say i measured the charge time, normally i charge before bed and it got maybe a few hours use so it never ran out of charge @@Trazer350
