I took the back off and unplugging the battery. I left it unplugged for about 2 minutes and then plugged in the charger. The tablet is now working. Thank you.

Thank you so much! My son's sat charging all night. Went to turn it on this morning and it would not turn on. We assumed it hadn't charged. I tried the power+vol down button. The charge indicator popped on the screen and I was pleased to see that it was charged to 99%. He was in near tears this morning before school as we are going on a road trip tonight and he really wanted to take it. I will be his hero when he gets home from school!

It’s like when a little kid’s tablet stops working and doesn’t charge or turn on, it’s like the end of the world for them. At least it got to 99%. You had only 1% to go and it would have been fully charged.

Found a Samsung at a garage sale last week and paid $1 for it, I used your 4 year old battery unplug remedy video and it took a full charge and is running great. I love these easy fixes

I had to take the back off and that worked. Many thanks.... I can't help but notice that in a year's time you've had half a million views for this problem. It doesn't say much for Samsung tablets.

I am so impressed with your video. Clear instructions and have now used the information twice to power up my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 when it just mysteriously died. Fortunately both times I just held the power button and the volume up button for about 15 seconds and it turned on. Lifesaver for sure.

Thank you so so much - I ordered the same pry tools from Amazon UK. I had to take the back off - but disconnecting and then re-connecting the battery connecting did the trick - perfectly! But why Samsung made the back soooooooo difficult to remove makes me really annoyed! Anyway, thank you for giving me the confidence to resolve and address / restart my Galaxy Tab 3.

Red Tiger Entertainment my screen is completely black. It’s not water damaged and it never got dropped on the floor. It was in perfect condition. I can hear all the audio but no image.

You have to open it up and find the screen connector to the motherboard and make sure it is aligned and secured to connection, then pull the battery connector and re-attach that for a battery reboot. Replace the case back and it should have a visible screen now.

Then, my wife didn't give up and said she's going to try the power button and volume down and within 15 seconds I heard her literally "Gasp" with delight and I knew instantly it her samsung tablet was turning on! It worked for me press and hold both power button and volume up for 10 seconds.

Had a Galaxy Tab 3 identical to the video sitting for many months, unused in a sealed fabric protection case. Nothing worked as far as buttons, but I carefully removed the case and did this... and the charger works fine (an older samsung charger, but official samsung charger for a previous smartphone) and all is charging again. Much respect Mr. Chris Boylan from one techgrad to another. Cheers and consider getting a Ko-Fi page so people can send you free-coffees and 'tips'.

Ur a genius! Last night my tablet suddenly freezed and this morning despite charging overnight wouldn't switch on at all. I thought is a gonna till I watched your video. Pressed 2 buttons as you said and voila! My tablet was back on again! Thank you so much for your video! 👍👍

I Used A Dissecting Needle And That Works Too But The Needle Got A Little Bent. This Totally Works. But I Had To Disconnect It For 5 Minutes. Now I Can Play Clash Of Clans. I Am Just 13 And I Did It On My Own. Thanks Man You Are Great. Even iFixit Didn't Work For Me But You Did. Thanks A Lot. :-)

There's a link to a new battery for the Tab 3 7.0 in the video description. It should cost less than $15. Once you get the back of the tablet off, it's easy to replace the battery - just 4 small Philips head screws hold it in place. Good luck!

This really helped. By holding both volume up and down together along with the power button it went from not going beyond showing 8% straight to 98%!

I left the tablet to charge from a computer using the usb cable. Meanwhile I was reading your wonderful article, preparing mentally for an inevitable operation of battery detachment. I reached out for the tablet, casually pressed the power button and - wow - it came alive. It was the trickle charging that worked for me!

Great video! The first fix (power and volume up button) solved my problem (Galaxy Tab 2 won't charge when I use my Samsung cable to my computer). After I used your fix, it shut itself down, and began to charge!

Thank the Lord! oh my gosh Thank you so much! I was using my mom's tab and it out of nowhere turns off. I even accidentally cut myself from trying to open the back. You saved from death. lol

If you are nervous about taking it apart, then I have a solution that only takes 24 hours, maybe a little longer... So yesterday I gave my old tablet a charge and nothing happened, just like in the video. I tried everything I could, and was putting off removing the back. This morning, I checked the tablet and, again, nothing. Tonight, about 12 hours later, I take another look and the screen is just flickering for a moment and then going out. I knew it was getting the power it needed, so I hold the power button and boom, it shows that it is charging! This could be a possible solution, but I'd say after around 24 hours (give yourself a little more for hope) then you should probably perform the procedure in the video. It saved me from buying a pry tool, but they are cheap so I'll probably buy one anyways.

The first method worked by pushing power and volume up button. I had been pushing all 3 prior to finding this video, power/volume and home buttons. However, not sure if this is a totally different issue but my tablet takes forever to charge. I use factory charger and cable. By forever it can take up to a day to charge to full charge. Would me popping up the screen to disconnect the battery fix the issue?

Depending on which tablet it is, disassembling it and disconnecting the battery cable, as seen in the video, may solve the problem. If it's not a Tab 3 7-inch, as shown in the video, the disassembly procedure may be a bit different, but it's definitely worth trying before giving up on it. Good luck!

It worked it actually worked. A KZread video actually helped me

So I tried all of these techniques, you will definitely need to charge it in the first place. Charge your tablet for at least 2 hours so it has a sustainable battery life. Chris's solution was to hold the POWER BUTTON and the VOLUME UP/VOLUME DOWN button together. This did awaken my tablet, BUT put it into USB recovery mode, in which I could do absolutely nothing. My solution was to put the tablet in the mode where you can switch OS's. Press the POWER BUTTON , VOLUME DOWN BUTTON, and the HOME BUTTON at the same time. (If you have no home button, disassembling is the best option for you.) A menu will pop up asking if you are certain you want to change the operating system... SAY NO (Volume Down Button) to restart your Device... this will then restart your tablet and put in a normal working state. Ask me any questions, and if this worked.. DROP A MUTHA FUCKIN' LIKE !!!!

Reconnecting the battery did it for me, even for a different model (samsung galaxy tab s2). I was ready to replace the tablet already, but this video made me give it a try and fix and it worked. Thank you for the content

Hi I have similar problem with my Samsung S6 lite tablet which is barely 6 months old. After running the last update, she will not recognize any charger anymore and the battery just died. I do have a lightning bolt in a circle appear when I do plug the charger in though but it's not charging.) Would you recommend me to do that manipulation (although will it be similar a fix since they're not the same model?) or that I should bring it back to the shop where I bought it?
