My childhood tablet and its still alive

This tablet got me through high school. Parents bought it. I have since migrated from it but it was a decent tablet, minus the slight slowness (got worse overtime) and outdated android version. It is still laying around in my house and probably still boots.

Using it with wifi as a secondary monitor might try and set it up with emulation such as Gameboy or ps1 games and use an old ps4 controller laying around, was the same for me was actually a great entry-level device although the storage was crap

I think you might need a new Wi-Fi antenna. I recommend getting a professional to install a new one though

just got one from a local pawn store at $30, fits my needs -- using it as ereader, emails, web surfing, TV/DVD remote and videos watching. BTW, mine is android kitkat. not jellybean so i think it is upgradeable?

im pretty sure you cant flash it with anything... i search for a custom firmware with no luck, the only one i found was for the galaxy tab 3 -normal edition- not lite one... did you tried a psx emulator by any chance??

Well put together video! Very clear, and thorough. I'm sure you'll get more subscribers etc if the algorithm looks favourably on you. Sadly I think it's flogging a dead horse to get the tab to work in 2022. Mine wouldn't even update the time via NTP as seemingly the remote server is offline so I had to set manually. Most apps already installed are slow, updates ended long ago and new apps are not supported. Even html5 websites are a chore. It's a shame as the device itself is lovely. A good weight, nice screen. Mine had drained the cells to 2.7v but after charging directly (some disassemble required) the cells came to 4.2v and now charge thru usb, getting almost the full 6800 mAh per cell (there are 2). Again, a shame to bin cells which are still alive.

I finally pulled out this tablet out of the drawer, basically brand new tab barely used but I’m having trouble getting it to charge up. What could I do to fix this problem

It's mid-2022 now and I have a nearly un-used Tab 3 Lite right here! Almost new condition, even the old original battery still works well! We've had it kicking around the house for years and it never got used. It's a neat little device, unfortunately the ancient Android will not allow updating to newer versions of either the OS itself or any apps. I gotta fix that somehow, because I'm stuck on Android 4.2.2.

@@Abdullahsalakyum I bet you're right, these puppies are too old for that. Wrong instruction set extensions, hardware-related shit. The Tab3 has a headphone jack, though. That means it has a really low output impedance, which makes these old things GREAT audio players for the home stereo. Put your favourite music on the thing and plug it into the stereo amp with the big ass speakers. It sounds REALLY good.

This was the tablet I use back then. I remember playing PG3D and alot of Minecraft rip off innit. It actually still charges but it doesn't boot up. I'm assuming the motherboard was broken or something. Very unfortunate

Does exploration lite ring a bell? It's a Minecraft knock off, when you close the app it resets the world, good days.

My grandma has one like these, she says gots it from 2008, but it's not possible. Maybe 2013, nvm... but point is she still got it and been has it ago a lot of years.

My grandma daily driver for around 5 years i think, this year upgraded to samsung A52

Found one in a tech recycling bin. It's a bit frustrating at times. I couldn't find firefox on the playstore, but after logging in to Samsung account I was able to get firefox through the Samsung apps. Couldn't find ųtorrent either. Had to install another client. I really want to flash a newer/better os with su functionality to I can do more things with it. But it's probably not worth the effort. I have an 8inch windows 10 tablet that already can do more tasks.

Such a shame something usable is too obsolete to be used. I've just revived mine by externally charging the lion cells as they'd fell to 2.7v and refused to charge via usb. After that I'd hoped for a usable device but of the 1gb ram 50% is used by the OS. Chrome barely works. Still, I'm using it for a display for home assistant instead. Would be nice to have youtube or a browser working so it could do the most basic stuff.

They have a good headphone output, so they're GREAT music players when you connect them to your stereo with an appropriate cable (or maybe a Bluetooth audio receiver, I've never tried one.) They're not much good for anything else, but they're really good for that.

It can't whatsapp anymore, is there an that can be installed to enable whatsapp and telegram

I'm typing this using the tablet. It's not that bad but I guess because all the updates and new apps makes it not available. Roblox used to work perfectly fine! But now now its not available bc all the updates. You can't use youtube and can only access through the web , cant use zoom, discord, or any recent apps. The camera is ok tho. Also the tablet was strong enough to mae me access my photos but some videos couldn't play. Lmao

i remember hating this tablet when i had it im glad i upgraded

This was bought to replace an old Lenovo tablet which was essentially too sluggish to cope with modern websites. kzread.infoUgkxz4qYZoyAOb_hq_UbaKI6AsZX0FnoFm-U This tablet is fast, has a very clear display with built in optional eye comfort shield, great sound with Dolby Atmos, split screen option and numerous tweaks that I've not yet explored. I've plugged a wireless receiver into the i/o socket to connect a mouse if I need it and a bluetooth keyboard works fine - unlike the Lenevo which somehow would often garble the input. Battery life seems good. In short I'm very pleased with it
