After a week of use, I can say I'm impressed by the Samsung Galaxy A55. Samsung has improved the performance and battery life, making it an excellent user experience. The camera definitely needs work, but otherwise, I'm pleased with what I've been using so far.

    My personal phone is a Samsung S23 ultra and for my business, I use last year's Samsung A54. I have to tell you that the Samsung A54 is fabulous and people who criticise it most certainly have not used it. In terms of performance and for what I do, I can't really tell much difference between the speed of the two phones even though the display on the ultra is significantly better of course. To be honest, having realised just how good the Samsung mid range phones are, I don't think I will be buying another S-class Samsung phone due to the laws of diminishing returns. I think the mid range phones are so good now that really buying anything more is a waste of money unless you need the processing power for gaming. I would imagine that this year's Samsung a55 will be another absolutely excellent phone and I believe you can get it cheapest £350 in the UK which is less than half the price of the base iPhone. Why would you bother buying anything from Apple in this respect?

    The A55 is completely sufficient in terms of both quality and everyday performance for 95% of users. All these debates about flagships vs. midrange have been completely exaggerated since last year at the latest. Since then, the A models of the A5X series have been as good as flagships from 3-4 years ago. You have to really focus on the actual differences, such as USB 3.x (including Dex), wireless charging, or the telephoto lens, in order to really spend a lot more money here. Because in everyday life the differences are otherwise only noticeable for excessive gamers (Genshin Impact). I now hardly understand people who spend 3x as much money for around 15% added value - and hardly use most of the additional functions of the S series in everyday life. And that's just to get a new flagship again after 3-4 years. This is complete nonsense.

    @@saadiab5105 I am sure that sooner or later AI will find its way into smartphones everywhere. And Samsung will certainly develop AI even further. Idk whether it's different where u live but everyone tells me to never buy a new unlocked phone from Amazon. This is because the phones they sell on Amazon sometimes aren't what you think they are. They will sound good on paper but the parts are either older or they are from another country with a lower budget (China for example). The only thing they keep the same is the charging speeds (again I'm not sure how true this is but please just be careful)

    We all go through a gaming phase but as we grow up we spend on gaming rigs or even gaming consoles so we stop gaming on our phones. I'm on my 20s and I went from testing the gpu limits of my phones to just using my high-end device for youtube and tiktok. The one thing other samsung phones have (for a 60%+ larger price) on this one is the camera, so if you're a content creator or you have a large following and you want your pics to look as crisp as possible (for the price) then a phone like the s23fe could do it. If you're gonna show pics of your cat to your friends and family then the A55 seems to do just fine (like really, sites like whatssap and instagram compress the shit out of your images so your phone won't matter) Ordering my A55 as of typing this. Gonna receive it in a couple of ours.

I'm in the Netherlands and am on Vodafone so the cost for this with them now is for the A55 5G 8GB RAM 256GB Storage €414.41 as I am already on Vodafone but if I was a new subscriber then there would be a €25 fee on top of that. I also have a friend who works for Vodafone and can get me an even better price but won't know till June what that will be. I'm missing the Samsung things I used every day, like their notes app and being able to group apps... also for some reason on the Pixel 8 you can't see your photos, videos and screenshots in one place!?? I'm seriously considering changing it for the A55 as the cameras seem like they are very similar, is a very similar price (managed to get the Pixel 8 on a good deal but doesn't feel worth it), and I won't have google shouting at me to pay for storage every day...

So the first night I left it on, because I wanted to drop the charge down to its maximum battery protection level (80% max charge). But in the morning the battery was still at 100%! How? I suspected it must have charged all night from my PC's USB cable, but it wasn't connected to it. The A55 just didn't use its battery up while I wasn't using the phone. After over 2 hours of continuous use I was stunned to see it was still at 99% charge. How can that be?! I used it all day (about 16 hours), and it was at 88% when I went to bed again, with no charging at all. I awakened again today and it's at 86%, as of right now. Last night I even put the screen on bright mode, always on, then ran loud music and played videos through it, plus used maps in satellite mode, in an attempt to force the phone to use up its battery. It simply did not drop charge, like I'd expected it too. Nor did it even warm up! My last phone is a Galaxy A22 5G, which has a 5,000 mAh battery, and it would have discharged rather quickly from such use, and gotten quite warm to touch. But this A55 5G did not get hot, it remained only very slightly warm no matter how I used it. I can only conclude the electronics of this phone are very electrically efficient. I have given it 24 hours of continuous use and it's at 86% charge as I write, despite my deliberately trying to make it fall below 80%. Yes, it takes a long time to fully charge it up, but it takes far longer to discharge. I looked into the size of the Galaxy S24 battery, and it is currently 4,000 mAh. Which is enough because it's a newer and more efficient electrical design. But the A55 has the same level, or even better efficiency technology, but uses a 4,900 mAh battery. You'll be shocked how long this battery lasts. I'm not going to let it completely discharge to see how long it'll go, but it'll be much longer than 2 days. So at 86% charge it's used about 900 mAh of its capacity, after 24 hours! That's impossible! Right? And I would never have believed it if I hadn't seen it for myself. The A55 5G has ridiculously long battery life. Having it limited to 80% allowable maximum charge will not be a problem, as it will still work for at least two days without even sparing the battery at all. I also replaced some of my old apps from my Android-13 ONE UI A22 5G with the Google app equivalents (file manager, Docs, Sheets, Notes, Calendar, etc.) because I found they work very well and are not infested with ads. Great! The result has been a fast, slick phone, with lots of RAM and excellent software. So I'm very happy with this A55, it's a much better phone than I thought it would be. Get one, you'll love it. The A55 5G is only slightly bigger than my A225G (it's thicker) but about the same weight. If you were wondering, yes I disabled battery recharging when I enabled battery protection. I've had a notification on screen from the last 30 hours that says, "Battery - Charging stopped to protect your battery. Charging is limited to 80%." So it is not recharging from the USB cable connection to my PC. And it's also been supplying internet to my PC the whole time, mostly KZread videos, at HD quality. Plus I was using Microsoft's "Link to PC", so I can configure the phone setup and software from my PC. So lots of extra bandwidth use and processing from that use as well. I used about 25 gig in 24 hours on PC, which all went through the A55, and the battery is still at 86%. If you are thinking this is maybe what spared the battery, it didn't. When you do things on the PC, what you're doing is immediately exactly mirrored on the phone screen and OS as well. The phone OS does not know you're operating it from a PC, it behaves exactly the same way, and mirrors everything you do. So the phone has to drive itself plus supply the PC with data to operate the phone remotely from there. So that actually uses more power than to use the phone just by itself. With regard to this MS "Link to PC" app, there was no lag between phone and PC when I used that app with a USB cable connection to PC, but with the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth linking option there is a noticeable lag between the PC's actions and the A55's responses. It's still worked and functioned properly on Wi-Fi but it's not as slick and fast. Having an A55 5G connected to my PC in this way is almost like having a second computer. I was impressed with the processing and file transfer speed, it was far better than I'd expected. Ok, it's only been 3 days. And I have not looked into almost any of the Android-14 ONE UI OS 'features'. And the phone cost me $698 AUD, so the idea that a Galaxy 'A-Series' phone is a 'cheap' phone? It cost me exactly double the price of my A22 5G. Which still works perfectly btw, but I had to change its battery at 12 months old because I was charging it up to 100% and the battery puffed up and bent its plastic frame into a banana. So yes, the A22 5G looked and felt plastic, and rather 'cheap'-ish. A55 5G doesn't look or feel 'cheap' and performs at an amazingly high level. This is not a 'cheap' phone. The basic iPhone-15 costs $1,499 AUD here, and basic Galaxy S24 is $1,398. These are slightly better 'spec' phones, but would I know this if one were handed to me to use instead of this A55 5G? I probably wouldn't notice a difference. EDIT: I forgot to mention audio quality. The two in-built 'stereo' speakers are surprisingly good, they respond well to equalizer tweaks. They are a vast improvement over my last phone, so I'm glad Samsung prioritized audio quality. It's made voice calls, music and video so much better than I was expecting.

    Actually, I'm not sure, but I do have some doubts about whether it's a good deal to go for a mid-range product. I always think it might be better to buy a refurbished or second-hand phone that is two or three years old, or even older, which would cost the same price, but at least you're getting something that was considered high-end at the time. For the same price, you get something that is mid-range-is it really worth it after all? Wouldn't it be better to spend 500 euros on an old flagship that was top-of-the-line at its release rather than spending the same amount on something mediocre that you will keep for several years? That's the question I'm pondering.

    We talk about that a lot. And no, that's not always the best case for a lot of people for a lot of reasons. I spend a good amount of time on that in one of my previous videos. You can't go into your AT&T store and ask to get an S21 Ultra for 3 dollars a month, software support is gone or low. Battery life issues. Etc.

  • @alexdenton6586

    @alexdenton6586

    @@StevealiciousTech Sure, it’s a valid point-whether it’s refurbished or used matters, and if the battery has been replaced, it could very well make for a device that's good for several more years. But you’re right about the software support; it’s not always great, especially with older Samsung models. I recently gifted a friend an older S22, and honestly, it works perfectly. I got it for a good price for his birthday, and it was about time he upgraded from his old Galaxy S10. I can afford to always buy the latest phone each year, but not everyone can. When I was talking earlier and wondering, it was mostly about whether, for gifts, it might be better to opt for something older that was top of the line back then rather than a mid-range model now.

    1480 is just perfect... No lags ... A52 was a disappointment A few Samsung software deficiencies but I can do with it Anyone who can get it's Gcam will highly appreciate... But the camera is good enough

    Everything about A55 is great but in India Samsung launches this in a very high price and that's the problem but besides of that it's just perfect still I'm not going to buy this instead i will take the s23 in the sales time at the same price of A55 .

    I don’t have one myself but on my phone it does the same right from the box so I think it might be normal.
