Samsung Galaxy A15 5G: Best $3 phone you can buy!

When I first did my review and thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy A15, I said it would be an awesome phone on carrier deals, and those have started to roll in, with AT&T offering the Galaxy A15 for as little as $3 a month. It's hard to beat that kind of value when you think what you get, and not everyone wants to shell out for an older flagship.

60.99 min base plan plus you have to pay 35 dollars activate fee and also pay the taxes on the device. Just right from start your almost at 100 dollars half the price of the phone. Plus, on top of that your stuck for 36 months. Financially this is really bad spending over 2300 dollars over 36 month including plan and monthly payment for device finance. When you could buy outright unlocked and pick any carrier you want and any plan and save a lot of money.

Really missing the point. I get that you think that. First off, 61 isn’t the base plan. 35 is if you are a new customer but most people will have a sim they can slot in. You are stuck if you don’t pay. You can pay any time and unlock it. Yes, you have to pay the tax which you would anywhere. And 30-40 million people a year do it in the US for a lot of reasons, convenience being one of them. It’s not for YOU, right, but it’s for someone.

@@StevealiciousTech if you pay it off early, then what's the point of financing now you have to go though the trouble of doing the unlocking process. Witch unless you are military you have to wait 60 days being on the network before you can summit a request. Avoid the hassle and just buy it unlocked. Save time and money.

Nice to hear your counterpoint against last year’s flagship. I definitely agree with others that an older flagship offers stupendous value, but there are legitimate reasons to pick something newer. Maybe you want a brand new battery, or value the update commitment starting today. With that said, I’ll probably get a used flagship for my dad, but it’s unfair to say there aren’t any valid reasons.

  • @afanasibushmanov7463

It's kind of ironic because the people who are the least enthusiastic about phones are going to buy one like this and because of their lack of enthusiasm they're going to want to keep it for as long as possible. Longevity is probably more important when it comes to devices like this than it is when it comes to flagships. People who buy flagships probably care somewhat about phones so they're going to want to upgrade every 2-4 years. People who don't care about phones or tech in general are going to want to keep the phone until it's literally unusable.

yes, Samsung provides several years of updates and security patches whereas Motorola only offers 1 major Android update and 2 years of security patches on their cheaper phones which is not enough. We should not have to upgrade every 2-3 years. I think 4 years at a minimum for updates is good

I looked at the A15 prices in my country directly from Samsung particularly the 8/256gb version and it was around 236 USD, but an A34 from last year is 243 USD and it kind of feels stupid in that situation to get the A15 since the A34 smahes the A15. The 4/128gb A15 is 168 USD, but through my carrier on their 10 USD/mo plan they want an additional 74 USD which doesn't sit well with me since that's for the 4/128 version. If it was the 8/256gb version they offered for a little bit more I would get the A15 from my carrier since it should a fine long battery if not too performant phone.

I had the A11 years ago on T-Mobile and it shipped with Android 10 and it's last security update was Android 10. I was only using the device because my old phone broke and I was waiting on a new flagship that I liked but omg the phone was terrible in performance and didn't get the update support, maybe a T-Mobile issue or Samsung I don't know. I avoid budget phones these days.

I'm hating all of the current branded phone makers for not providing smaller screen devices in their budget to mid price range. Don't need or want a flagship. Although I'm a guy I'm a little man with small hands, 6 inch and bigger screens are difficult. 5.5 inch screen would be good, 5 even better. Don't get me wrong here, I like Samsung, currently have an A12 which is a nightmare to fit in my pockets but Samsung really left me no other mid range choice when I bought the phone.

I'm sure A15 is a good phone but am kinda concerned about battery... Yes, it's 5000mAh but my A13 5G which I just use at home as a secondary has had its battery having bad standby. Even my LG Stylo 4 has better standby, and that's an older phone with smaller battery and absolutely zero battery protection! It can be dead in a day just through standby. Point is I feel the same can be applied to A15 but it probably depends on the user. I used my A13 without battery protection probably in the first year or so, then used battery protection sometime later.
