Having the fold 3 for 2 years now i cant switch back to a regular smart phone, the point of having a foldable phone is to use the bigger inner display. I find it easier to do tasks one handed with the phone folded up. Cant necessarily do much with a S23 ultra with just one hand.

@brianv3ntura had a good spigen case the whole time and I just traded off phone at the 2 year mark. But the phone was as perfect as the day I got it, upgraded to the fold 5 and it's basically the same phone with a better hinge.

I liked the Fold 3 so much I got the fold 4(traded on used market so no money was changed for each pick up) , but after using the 4, i definitely babied the phone much more than i wanted to because it felt so fragile and warranty? Whats that? I ended up trading my Mint condition 512gb fold 3 for a S24+ tmobile locked and stopped rocking my z fold 4 as well. I'm so glad I did. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Phones just sort of work great as they are. I swap phones all the time and folding tech feels very fragile and prone to break which socks because companies do such a poor job of making the repair affordable or trusted to last.

Sorry youve had a bad experience with your fold 3. But ive had mine since jan 2023 with no issues so far. But im considering upgrading it when prices lower to either the fold 4 or 5. I absolutely love this phone. For me its the note 2.0, i enjoy everything about it. I got a good protective case and its everything i wanted in a phone.❤

I live in the country and have had my z fold 3 for over 2 years most of which out of the case and i have zero regrets. I do alot of fabricating and bein able to look at plans is great. Using it for navigation driving is amazing, and i have no issues of durability. Iv kept it in my pocket downhill biking these phones are aluminum with gorilla glass vicus who knows what but the glass its pretty dame strong so iv always bein ballzy and its fine. The narrow front glass is stronger not being so wide so its more practical and utilitarian, feels much more like a old phone talking on it when its closed. (If your grew up when phones where attached to walls that is.) Battery is fine use like a normal and dont scroll all day. If your a tradesman you will love it. If you play games on your phone its absolutely unreal experience. Its higher quality then Psp and it plays games online that are the equivalent too id say ps2 maybe ps3 games... one of the best things i got was a cooling pad that really helps when playign games for keeping it cool and charging fast.

How is the battery now? I found a Fold 3 for around 400 USD here. I am thinking of getting one.

I havevfold 3 and since i b9ught them never had a chance to enjoy inner screen i5 keeps braking before a year. Had been braking 3x. Now and left it just like that cost to fix it after warranty it is expensive. Hope someone cab help 😢

I traded a gaming PC that i put together for $150 for a Z Fold 3, then was able to trade the Z Fold 3 512gb edition for a Tmobile Locked S24+ brand new. So far, I don't ever need to go back to a fold. This s24+ is everything I ever wanted. - Big screen - Great Battery 1-2days with heavy usage - 45w charging - Sounds and looks great No cons yet whatsoever. Before trying the fold experience on the z fold4 I rocked an S23 and it's an awesome phone, BUT the cameras weren't great and the charging was 1:30hr for about 8hrs of performance. It didn't feel right. Will probably sell the Z Fold 4 or trade it for a oneplus device! It's cool technology that some people will have 0 issues with, but with my luck, I'd be the one of the many people on manyyyy reddit forums stuck with a piece of technology not wroth fixing.

I think you're wrong I had the fold 3 for 2 years I upgraded to the fold 5 and it's a definite upgrade

I agree it's a big upgrade, better battery, better outer display, better performance and better cameras. I just feel like Samsung could have done more, especially when you look at the pixel fold and other foldables

@TechPhD yeah I agree they could have done more but the wider outer and inner display, the crease isn't as noticeable feeling the crease isnt as dipped in, a 2x brighter display of course its faster, better cameras, besides the inner display camera, 8k 30fps videos, better hinge,way lighter, easier to open and close the phone with no resistance, battery life is significantly better, videos and movies look way better color clarity is spot on. Makes the fold 3 looks dimmed and faded, feels more premium, better cases and a fold 5 s pen, slimmer design, merely bezel less, more gripper, wireless charging got bumped up to 15. Writing on the fold 5 with the the fold 5 s pen feels way better and responsive then it does on the fold 3 and that goes with the s pen pro edition as well its way more fluent on the fold 5. Since the outer screen is wider all videos/ movies can be filled to fit the entire outer screen without taking portions away from the video/movie you are watching, and the speakers are way louder. Significant upgrade from the fold 3 everything I out them next to each other from watching 4k hdr 60fps movies or videos quality shows, even holding them with your eyes closed despite the fold 5 being lighter you can automically tell which one feels premium and can withstand a fall. I say upgrade if you have the fold 3 or under if you never had the fold and can't afford the 5 or 4 definetly definitely get the 3 you get a some what similar experience without all the enhancements if you will

A curious question: Are there people over eighty years of age who are very elderly people who own and will use modern smart phones???

Another drawback for the new foldables is that by folding flat they no longer have the raised ridge that prevent the inner screen from touching the ground when it falls

My first folding phone is the galaxy f5 and tbh everything about i love from the outter lil screen it have its own design. U can get a pixel or other brands with bigger outter screen...but samsung got the software on lock. And what if the fold have the galaxy ultra cameras the fold will upgrade from Megatron to Optimus prime. People trip on the price when u getting two deals in one.

I thought this was about the fold 3 and fold 5 don’t care about the ultra

I would use the s23 ultra for its camera other than that I love the foldable line I had the fold 2 now I have the 4 and if I didn't loose my 2 I wouldn't upgrade until the s pen and camera changen

Well I understand not to get it but I just got it because my phone three was giving me a lot of problems everyone they exchanged me for they exchange mean this would be my fourth one the exchange me every time I make a phone call it hanged up I had the fold 3 but they gave me a a good deal I couldn't refuse $1,000 with trade in and they gave me $200 and they paid off my old phone so I think that was a pretty good deal so now I'm waiting to get the fold 5 I know it's not going to be a big difference I just wanted a new phone only reason I'm getting this kind of a phone is because I am partially blind and I need a kind of phone like this so I can see the screen a lot better other words than that I will get a bar phone like I used to have an iPhone That's the only reason I got this kind of phone it's because I can see what I text I know this phone is very expensive but without that $1,000 off I would not got it

The 5 is definitely an upgrade. I immediately noticed the differences from the 4.

Foldable phones are definitely as durable as any other phone. I've never had a problem with Foldables and mine has on a few occasions done cartwheels down the road 😂. Plus the inner glass display doesn't scratch. The plastic screen protector that's comes with it is what scratches. From the 3 and after, you can take them off of the phone. Which I did. The inner screen isn't scratching any differently than the s23 display

In your title you mention fold 3 and 5 but only talk about fold 3 and s22 ultra 😮thumbs down unfortunately

I get why you say that but to be so honest, I'm one those folks out there who is deciding on this or the S22 Ultra 🤔 as I never owned a foldable nor ultra of any device.

Fold 3 and also the 4 have issues, they stop to open fully in about a year and three quarters. Samsung has a terrible repair department, and also their customer service, unlike Apple, really stinks. They state that it takes 2-4 weeks to repair. I am still waiting for mine.. I am not sure how good the fold 5 is, but get ready to be frustrated after spending 1800 pounds on a phone. not recommended!
