All Samsung Blu-Ray players have all been bricked. I don't think a software update is gonna help at all since it doesn't even stay on long enough to connect to the internet. Ridiculous!

I just went out and bought a new Sony 3D Blu-Ray player, love my Samsung but this is too much, I'll never purchase another Samsung product in my life, I just don't like the way Samsung is dodging this issue. I'm out of 250 bucks I spent on my Samsung Player, maybe watched 25 movies on it, plus another 200 plus dollars on the Sony player I just bought. Been an expensive week considering I'm not working and stuck at home because of Covid-19.

I have probably 25 Samsung devices. I was furious a couple years ago when I found an update, (SUSPECT PROGRAMMED OBSOLENCE) permanently made my TV unable to connect to You Tube. Now, I find that my Blue Ray player wont work and it is world wide problem. I thought Samsung incapable of this level of incompetence. But they once again disappointed me. BTW, I found this too late, I had already tossed the POS out on the concrete driveway and bought a Sony.
For what it is worth, this is occurring on the BD-D5700 Blu Ray players as well. About 2 to 3 weeks ago, while sitting in the living room, and looking over at the Blu Ray player, it was turning on and off, going through setup, which I though perhaps a remote had triggered it. Attempted to actually use the unit tonight, and it will hangup on LOAD and not read the disc enough to get out of that screen. I had to unplug it, allow it to start up, just to get the disc out. I had noticed a week or so ago, that the front virtual buttons have no affect. Only the remote would allow me to power it up, or open the tray. Once a disc was in the tray and closed, I lost total control of the unit, until I powered it down, extracted the disc, and even tried to load new firmware. I spent most of the night, (after seeing another post like this and another just before this one), chatting with Samsung. They seem to realize it, and will only issue a repair for the J model. I know mine is a bit older, but I take care of my electronics in my entertainment center, and this problem is now realized as out of control. They at least need to post a firmware fix, and the only available is from 2013, and it would not be recognized, and once extracted from the zip file, was not recognized by the USB port. I have been a dedicated Samsung customer for many years, and this may be outside of their control, but at least recognize it, and treat the faithful customers that supported you all these years with an avenue to correct this. Makes me hesitant to consider something from Samsung to replace it.

Just so happened to see your question. I try to make things and equipment last as long as possible, and still a diehard Samsung proponent. Back then, I, after readying a bout Samsung and this issue, I went ahead and upgraded to a Panasonic DP-UB420 Blu-Ray Player,, with many features. I am sure there are several other choices out there equal to or better, tech reviews and so forth, given where we are now 2 years later. So many are getting away from media such as this, but not I. Has a USB port in which I use to bring much of my music MP3, MP4 recordings of videos, etc, on a thumb drive. It also has some network functions for remote media interfacing. I play my Pandora through it on an available app, as it has been a good performer, since the Samsung family bailed out on us in this very competitive market. People rely on their phones so much now, and there is a place and time with me for these, but I do like my Blu Ray player to test things I may have recorded before I may share them with someone who still enjoys old time media. Hope this helps..
We’ll see how long it takes them to fix it. It’s been almost a decade and they still can’t figure out how to stop their refrigerators from icing up.

So I went on the chat option on Samsung.com. They walked me through a hard reset and it failed. So they paid for my unit to be shipped to their facility in New Jersey ( I live in LA) to fix it for free. You just need the serial and model number and upload a picture of the purchase receipt. We’ll see what happens.

@@sirdudeness3154 Yep, mine is on its way back already, required internal component replacement. Same facility in NJ, cost me $25 for packaging so they could repair my property that they broke with their failed firmware update which I never agreed to install.

I contacted Samsung uk, via email. They collected and fixed it for free, they updated the software and firmware.

Have Samsung offered any repairs as July 17, 2020? I’ve been online for tech support with no success and both my blu ray players stopped working on June 20, 2020 and have received no assistance on this matter.
I have a Samsung BD-JM57/ZA that has the problem. I got on a support chat with Samsung a few hours ago. They acknowledged the problem, and sent me an e-mail that let me print a prepaid UPS address label to have it shipped to a repair center. The tech rep said that they would do a "factory reset" on the unit and ship it back to me. I'll be sending it to them today.
Mine stared a few days ago, exact problem as described. Hopefully they will issue the fix soon.
I have a Samsung HT-J5550 Blu-Ray player, which developed this problem. Same time as everyone else(4 weeks ago)and was rather upset. After watching websites and waiting a week, I didn’t here anything. I contacted Samsung Uk directly, via email, to which they responded. Initially I asked for a full refund, as the device was only 2/3 years old. I had purchased the item directly from Samsung. They agreed to have the device collected and repaired for free. It was collected the next day by courier, last week. I have received an email this morning stating they have serviced the device. Everything passed their tests, only one thing needed repair. It had software/firmware update. Hope this may help people who may have been upset, get emailing folks!
The same problem for me in Hungary with the BD-J5500. I took it to the Samsung service center (Budapest, Aradi utca 2-4): they didn't have time to see and say anything for more than a week. I brought it back home and realized it was a global problem. I made an online connection to Samsung customer service, they advised me to take it back to the same service center. I don't take it back there and there is no other Samsung service in Budapest. So I’m subscribing to this channel and waiting for a while, maybe a solution will be born. After a while, I will buy another bluray player from another manufacturer.

Mine worked fine Friday night and then on Saturday afternoon when I went to turn it on it just kept cycling on and off! I'm so annoyed bc now I can't watch my show on Netflix! This is pissing me off

Whaaaat?? This is crazy! I live in Mexico and my blu ray BD F6900 just stopped turning on one day..... about 8 months ago! Today, I finally decided to take it off the shelf, dust it off and give it another go... no luck. So I searched online and came across this video (and stayed because of the comments!)..... it's crazy that this happened to so many of us from across the globe at around the same time. I call shenanigans!! Guess I'll buy a Sony?
I can play sounds on my blu ray but it wont allow me to play video and watch via flashdrive. Im getting no signal when I choose the anynet BD

My HT-J5500K bought in 2015 encountered this reboot loop issue few days ago. I thought it's time has come. I brought it to official Samsung Service Center in Hong Kong who is asking for a nonrefundable 40USD for inspection fee as warranty has expired. Without even attempt to switch on the player, they claimed that there might be no solution and no spare parts available for any fix as the model is discontinued. Pissed off and went out right away, luckily pump into this video and found it is a global issue, not sure if it is luck or not. The Internet seems to know more than the Samsung service guys.

I had an upgrade on my satellite tv the other day, not paying attention to my components while the tech was here. As soon as he left, I tried to test my Samsung DVD Player, to insure everything was still hooked up correctly. My home screen on my dvd player now blinks on and off. But after reading some of these comments and finding out this is a global problem, I shouldn't have trash the tech after all. But waiting for a solution also. Thanks everyone for the info.

After Netflix and other sources for watching movies appeared, I stopped using Samsung BD-F7500 DVD Player for a few months and the surprise is that now it only loads DVDs; to get it to load a Bluray I have to repeat the loading process from 3 to 20 times.... which is terrible.- I have searched for a solution to the problem to no avail. It has already been said that Samsung has discredited itself with this Bluray and they don't seem to care... Shame on that company.
They cant fix it. The player cant even stay on for the necessary time to connect and update

Same replacement theory given to me as well by engineer came over on 19th,june. Now the catch is : No Main PCB/ Mother board is available now nor in future as company has stopped its production. Therefore, company is offering payback on depreciated scheme against purchase bill max period limits to 5 years only. Thus, No Solution / No updates is coming - Its a dead case.

I've got 2 Samsung Blu-ray players (BD-J5100 & BD-J5700) that failed within a couple days of each other. I use them primarily for streaming (Netflix, Amazon Prime, VUDU). If you contact Samsung (in the US) via 1-800-SAMSUNG or CHAT, you will have to provide basic info such as name, phone, email, model and serial number. They will assign a case number(s) and email you a link to print a pre-paid UPS shipping label(s). It would be nice if there was an online/diy solution, but I doubt that it possible with the units rebooting every 5 seconds. So, I shipped my players to the Samsung service center for a no-charge repair. Both players are several years out of warranty. In the mean time, I'll just run the streaming apps on a mobile device and cast to my a/v receiver. I suspect the issue is an expired SSL security certificate in the firmware since this happened to a dozen different models within a few days. And, the only solution is for the service center to force a firmware update with an updated SSL certificate.

BTW, Both of my blu-ray players have been repaired and returned. The firmware version has changed from 1020.1 to 1021.0 and both work perfectly.
Don't hook your device to the internet guys. Once to did, it will turn on and off on its own. I fixed my problem by opening the device and unhooking the touchscreen cable from the touch panel. (it took 30 minutes and I am ameature so you can easily do it too). My other issue was it opens and close by itself too. Hope it solve your problem
There is no fix coming for any effected devices, the only fix for this is to send the device back to Samsung. Text "HELP" to 62913 and Samsung will pay the shipping and do the repair for free but, you will likely have to pay for proper packaging...so they can fix the device they broke with a failed firmware update. I got confirmation today that they have fixed my HT-J5500W and it is on its way back to me,, it required them to physically replace the ROM in it, that's how bad they wrecked these devices with their failed firmware, which I never approved for them to install on my property. Don't wait for a quick remote fix, it is NEVER COMING. They don't care about blu-ray players, they don't sell these devices in the US anymore and have no plans to offer fixes or replacements. You must contact them and demand a repair, and you better do it fast cause parts are limited and once they are gone, you might as well throw that device away, they don't care about you or your device.

I texted the number you provided and was able to get the order for free shipping to Samsung. They said they’d have the Blu-ray players repaired and sent back in about a week. No charge. I just sent my Blu-ray DVD player in via FedEx. No remote of cable required.

Same problem here! I am glad I came on to KZread to look into a fix...Grrrr! There had better be a fix very soon but how would you even be able to install the "fix" except thru the USB port on the front of the machine. That is "if " they issue a "fix". Again Grrrr!

Banged my blu Ray player on the floor couple of times now it’s working fine…one problem the sensors cannot catch the remote anymore!!!

Darwin Alex Geerman no.i called in June and they did they were working on it. It’s now July 17 and I am still waiting for a solution. Can’t even get through to tech support.

@@darwinalexgeerman2573 Well, one would think Samsung would be smart enough to stop pushing out whatever broken firmware has caused this but, in the past I have found mfgs of products like this are not always that smart. I would say to go ahead and take a chance on it and get it out and hook it all up. Just keep the original box and if Samsung pushes the broken firmware to it, text that number and send it out to them for repair. And if you don't use it for streaming or need it connected to a network for some reason, just don't connect it to a network, then they can't break it with bad firmware updates.
Mine is ht j5550k starting same problems last 1 months ☹️☹️ I don't know what to do 😭😭😭😭😭
Samsung force you to "upgrade" to their latest BD player, it's all part of their plan.

Don't think that was the plan ... Samsung exited the blu-ray player market last year, in the US at least.
Folks, Samsung is fixing it for free of cost. Call/Chat with their technical team. They will set you up for a free repair. I sent in mine last week.

@@tabernacleoflight1961 Yes, just the main receiver, no speakers or any cables, just the main unit. And I have it back now and it works fine, it takes a minute to re-pair the rear speakers, there's instructions online, it requires you to use the remote control.

An update to you guys - the local Hong Kong Samsung Service Centre finally got my HT-J5500K fixed in 1-2 weeks for free. It works perfectly fine now, even more responsive than before!
I got tired of this bullshit with Samsung...my blu-ray was only 3 years old, and was working fine before this 'loop' issue. Can't even get the door to the player open to see if I left a dvd in there. Well Samsung had lost my business...their tablets are shit as well! I went out and bought a Sony dvd player...I wanted to watch Netflix.

Not having the recycling problem. But my Blue Ray player won't read Blue Ray disks. It will read DVDS. I'm done with Samsung!

I live in the US. I called Samsung yesterday and was told they will pay for me to ship it to them for repair. I didn't ask how long it would take or what the repair would be. I did ask them if they were aware that the problem I was having was the same problem everyone else is having. They said yes. Unfortunately, they are asking for the purchase receipt which I no longer have after all these years.
Happening with both of ours.

I was able to hold down the eject button on my remote and it popped open briefly if you have the remote maybe it’ll open long enough to get the disc out.
