Samplr is a musical app for iPad. I think it sets a benchmark in touch interface music performance apps. It's simple to use, yet there's depth. Here's a little video tutorial.
Cheers!

Hard to describe why Cuckoo tutorials are adorable and extremely helpful. It's focuses on workflow in a way that builds naturally, so naturally and so casually, with no time wasted. The viewer being "tutored" learns more from a 10 min tutorial than the next 10 best tutorials combined times 100.

Great ambient tool as well. I make most of my evolving drones with this app - a great tool to make less static continual sounds that vary in timbre, amplitude, frequency cutoff and pitch over time. Simply load in a synth recording of your making and scan through it in different directions and varying speeds, sequence it in Samplr or record it in Loopy and there you go.

The really creamy part of this jam reminds me of radio head. Thanks for being a influence to so many people in countless ways. You're one of the the channels that got my working hard on my music and You Tube. Keep it real and nerdy broskies.

amazing software! If only someone would build this as an actual stand alone unit... Honestly the OP-1 was a landmark synth, it has directly and indirectly influenced a lot of new instruments/software/plugins. I wish someone would create something to replicate its workflow, like a pseudo-tape workflow. Audio scrubbing, tape stop effect, lift/drop/cut, maybe with the ability to integrate your own converters into it instead of limiting it to 4 tracks. The OP-1 has inspired me to learn c++ to make this a reality!

What would the advantage of a standalone instrument be? You need the multi touch UI to really make it shine, so you’re stuck with a big screen running software at the end of the day. You can get a current model iPad which would easily run this well for $329. I doubt any stand alone version would be so affordable.

I've gone through many apps for music over the years on a kinda casual basis, but few apps has become my first choice for any music related task. I feel like Samplr might be the first such app for me. For performing with samples I will definitely often reach for Samplr from now on. I'm hoping to find more amazing apps in the future.
