Samplr is a musical app for iPad. I think it sets a benchmark in touch interface music performance apps. It's simple to use, yet there's depth. Here's a little video tutorial.
Cheers!

Hard to describe why Cuckoo tutorials are adorable and extremely helpful. It's focuses on workflow in a way that builds naturally, so naturally and so casually, with no time wasted. The viewer being "tutored" learns more from a 10 min tutorial than the next 10 best tutorials combined times 100.

Agreed. Cuckoo is a master of balancing the informative with the entertaining.
Great ambient tool as well. I make most of my evolving drones with this app - a great tool to make less static continual sounds that vary in timbre, amplitude, frequency cutoff and pitch over time. Simply load in a synth recording of your making and scan through it in different directions and varying speeds, sequence it in Samplr or record it in Loopy and there you go.
The really creamy part of this jam reminds me of radio head. Thanks for being a influence to so many people in countless ways. You're one of the the channels that got my working hard on my music and You Tube. Keep it real and nerdy broskies.
The fact you can do this so easily is a testament to your musical prowess! Really enjoy your videos man keep em coming.
I've had this app for a few years, but never dug deep into it. You are inspiring me to get back into it!
The jam ~10:00 is just fantastic.

The app has finally (Feb 2020) been updated! Thanks for the demo/tour/sales pitch!
So wonderful. Love how you approach it harmonically and not just as a beat maker😍
Love it. Your music talent and authentic attitude about yourself.
Excellent Cuckoo, thanks. I might have said that before as I watched it a while ago and bought the app. I didn’t get round to using it but I will now. Cheers. Lee
Fantastic walkthrough, best intro of samplr I’ve seen so far. Awesome!
you make it look so easy. Have had this for years, inspired to go back.
Magical. Wonderful stuff as always.
i love Samplr. Pick up an old Ipad and just use this app and it's worth its weight in gold.

Well this is a pleasant surprise! When I got Samplr I never expected a cuckoo video, so this is fantastic.
You could make a tomato can sound great and interesting. Glad to see you getting into iPad. This app reminded me of op1 when I got it last year. Definitely inspired by the op1 I think. 🌈☀️☄️💥🔥⚡️
Awesome vid dude, thanks for sharing, already bought and having a blast
Thanks for the great tutorial Cuckoo. Such a great app! A quick tip, at 9:30 where you had to turn on the metronome to find the 1, you can also see it visually with the tempo dot. It is white on the 1 and grey on 2, 3, 4.
Thank you so much! I was really looking for a good app to sample!
Real shame it's been abandoned. By far one of the most innovative iPad music apps out there. Like others have said this is what you hoped the iPad would offer as far as musical apps. Awesome stuff!!
Great app! Always impressed by your ability to pick up anything and make music with it. Awesome job!

How have I only just discovered this video! Amazingly inspiring Cuckoo! Great app and as always a great demonstration of the power of it! Loved the jam, reminds me of imogen Heap and how she uses her voice as an instrument! Very cool! :D
Wow. Impressive App and Performance. You sold me this One 😀
Beautiful, strange, otherworldly... Track's cool too!
What an excellent video. Thanks!

That was really sweet.
also, Legowest has a huge library of single shot synth samples. I downloaded loads of them, put them in Dropbox and installed that on my Ipad. Now i can just pull Juno, Mono/Poly, etc samples from there to build tracks. Super fun.

Glad to see you reviewing some great iOS apps. Wonder which others you really dig. SoundScaper and TC-11 are some of my favorites.
Great Tutorial, thanx.. :)
Brilliant thanks
Your voice is smooth for like spoken word stuff, hell make us some more videos so I can sample ya !!!!
Very impressive app.
amazing software! If only someone would build this as an actual stand alone unit... Honestly the OP-1 was a landmark synth, it has directly and indirectly influenced a lot of new instruments/software/plugins. I wish someone would create something to replicate its workflow, like a pseudo-tape workflow. Audio scrubbing, tape stop effect, lift/drop/cut, maybe with the ability to integrate your own converters into it instead of limiting it to 4 tracks. The OP-1 has inspired me to learn c++ to make this a reality!

halfwaycrooke there is a new grain synth hardware unit that was released this year that has some similar qualities as far as what you can do with the wave form. I think it's called Grain or something obvious like that. Will visit you 1000 USD

What would the advantage of a standalone instrument be? You need the multi touch UI to really make it shine, so you’re stuck with a big screen running software at the end of the day. You can get a current model iPad which would easily run this well for $329. I doubt any stand alone version would be so affordable.
Stellar 👍
Love u cuckoo 😍
i love your intros hahahahha. thanks for this nice review. i love it. best regards
amazing
Mind blown ....
Just got this app yesterday awesome app might have to sample some of my pocket operators into it also this would be a killer app if had ableton link although still a sick app
Nice!!!
Wow! Such a beautiful piece, Coockoo! Thank you for showing next generation sampler. You basically don’t anything else apart of this app and your voice to create music. Well maybe good mic would be great to. But not necessary. What do you think? Is the quality of iPad mic enough?
Hi Cuckoo, My lovely ol Dad only went and bought me an Ipad for Christmas :O)So I downloaded "Samplr" for starters and this vid helped me make that choice.I have a friend called Pete Lockett who developed a fantastic world percussion app called "Drum Jam" I highly recommend giving it a look, it's a cracking app !!Thanks for your tutorial vid. You really remind me of another muso friend called Paddy Steer :O)

What I'm really liking about the Ipad is how much quicker it is than my knackered old pc's, the latency is almost non existent. Although I must admit I do like playing with VST effects. My favourite is the "more feedback machine".
Awesome

It will be cool to make some breakcore on it 😀

+KarzenX ❤️ I'm using software all the time, but I'm finding hardware so much more rewarding and inspiring. I've gone through many apps for music over the years on a kinda casual basis, but few apps has become my first choice for any music related task. I feel like Samplr might be the first such app for me. For performing with samples I will definitely often reach for Samplr from now on. I'm hoping to find more amazing apps in the future.

Can you also sample audio from online sources? (like a YT vid for example) *SamplR* seems (on face value) much like *Re-slice* - is this a correct assumption?
Reminds me of op1
Sorry if I missed it but does this allow the sample bit range to be changed to give a 8 bit Yamaha vss-30 type of sound?

Until my Koala feature request comes through, can anyone help point me towards an iOS sampler that 1) Shows filenames on the pads AND 2) Works with Bluetooth controllers like Birdkid's Offgrid? Thanks
Please get the developer to update it before it’s too late. It already has issues on some newer iOS devices. I will cry if it doesn’t work on the next version of IOS.

I know no one's in here anymore. The app isn't supported anymore (no more updates) but it's still always functioned as far as i know. But i just installed it and its not recording anything. My assumption is its not popping up the microphone permission when it installs. So it's never given access to the mic. Anyone have any ideas about this? I wanna use it so bad 😭

Randuski I just bought it today and ran into the same issue. I also noticed it didn’t ask for permission. I thought my mic had gone out or something. But it’s working fine with other apps. I’m currently looking for a solution. I’ll come back here and let you know if I find anything.
