Akubra Chinstrap. This new accessory from Akubra is a little piece of genius. It attaches behind the internal hat band, so it doesn’t interfere with the fit of your hat. It can also be removed without causing damage to the hat. It can be a bit tricky to fit, however, so Sammy here gives you the rundown on what to do to fit your chin strap.

I assume it will fit an Akubra Stockman as it has the leather hatband. However, do you feel that connector piece on the side of your head when wearing it? thanks
I have one on my Snowy River. Doesn’t have the quick disconnect and seems like a cleaner, but mor permanent solution. Much less bulky. IMHO.

Sorry to be negative but when fitting the wire hanger, the kink should be angled towards the rim, according to Akubra. It looks like Sammy’s got them the wrong way round i.e. with the kinks facing inwards.

Indeed, instructions say the “kink” facing the brim but at the end of the day it doesn’t make a big difference
Wait, so isn't all the strain then placed on a single stitch? Also I like the clips so you can remove it however pulling on that will eventually strain that single stitch - also the plastic will eventually perish in the heat and sun and fail. Using magnets would have been vastly better, strong neodiddliums. Oh god, I've been watching too much AvE. :(

Push the neck of the thing that looks like an upside down coat hanger between the stitches so it pokes out of the leather band inside your hat. It's not rocket science, c'mon.
