    Satch's homage to Ed is respectful & outstanding, and even for the "purists" this is the closest we're even going to get. I don't understand why some people can't embrace the good & let the hate go. What good does hate do ?

    "all the songs"? They only played 3 songs from the best VH albums, the first 6. They played 9 songs that had nothing to do with Eddie or VH.

    Joe Satriani is amazing so don't take this the wrong way. If this were Chickenfoot or his own band then I'd dig this more. But for a tribute tour, I'd have gotten a guy who nails the essence of Edward Van Halen like Pete Thorn or Jacob Deraps. However, I'm glad that someone is paying respect to the music of Van Halen. It's sad that the actual Van Halens didn't do it

  • @richcharvel7162

    @richcharvel7162

    I agree. Thorn and Deraps are killer guitarists. They nail the early VH stuff nicely. They would have been great in DLR's solo bands. Since this is more "Van Hagar"-ish, I think Joe fits in well. Plus he's well known and was with them in CF. I've read that Alex was invited, but he declined (which I totally understand).

  • @6StringBuckeye917

    @richcharvel7162 yes, it's sad that neither Alex and or Wolfgang didn't do an organized tribute tour or even a single tribute show. I know Wolf does play vh here and there sitting in with people and that's great to hear.

    @@richmoore3308He doesn’t have the technical ability to give these songs any justice. Joe has what it takes and even he doesn’t play everything Eddie did. Not knocking Joe at all. It’s always easier to play your own stuff than someone else’s, especially when that someone else is Eddie Van Halen. Eddie would have definitely Van Halen-ized Satch Boogie.

    Dude...get a life. Not even close to a so called "fail." So many armchair critics at home like yourselves have absolutely zero clue about reality and what it takes to play in front of thousands of people. The vibe from watching this at home on a phone is a world away from the live kinetic energy of amps pushing sound against your eardrums. You can't quantify that energy from your phone. It s completely annoying and ridiculous about people like you that just so cavalierily and nonchalantly dismiss everything they see.
