In my opinion Sammo Hung was very underrated for how good he really was. In his prime he was nearly as good as Chan but didn't do nearly the amount of dangerous stunts that Chan did. It is a shame that there isn't anything here from his earlier career before the 90s when he was just peaking at his best.

Chan wasn't a fighter. He was a Chinese opera actor alongside Sammo and Yuen Baio. Sammo was actually a martial artist and choreographed most of Jackie's movies.

What amazes me is how fast he is I’m in shape and this guy would hit me before I could even have a chance to react lol

I LOVE the fact that with each character he uses a different style appropriately. Wing Chun, then Chin Na, then mixed martial arts, then Choy Lay Fut, etc. And performed like a master of each! This is why Sammo Hung and Donnie Yen will always be the best in the business as far as I'm concerned.

The world needs more husky agile badasses like Hung.

To close out the video by showing sammo hung's character's death in the IP Man 2 movie was arguably the best compilation video ever... This movie IP Man 2 was one of the best ever movie i have ever seen alive!! 😎

For someone that size to do those moves, Sammo is my hero

I suspect those dangerous drops was done by a stunt double. No matter how skilled, at that age, a fall like that will do serious damage.

With his size and education and posture, he would make the perfect Uncle Iroh in a live action Avatar

My favorite thing about rise of an legends was the pov camera shots with the two swords fight . I really loved that part

I have that film, gotta say, one of my most prized martial arts films that I own. I used to always watch that when I was younger, their speed and outstanding choreography blew me away. The Prodigal Son is the movie that got me into martial arts film.

Sammo is a true power, example that everyone can be great

Sammo was Jackie Chan Senior and is considered the Big brother in HK action fight/movie. He has always been "chubby" even when he was sparring with Bruce Lee in the opening scenes of Enter The Dragon.

Sammo hung is the best fat dragon super star

To make a great martial arts fight movie you need 3 things. 1. ANY Actor who grew up and was educated in the Chinese Opera School or equivalent. 2. Actors who are ALSO martial artists in real life. ( but sometimes they dont have to be ) and... 3. LOTS and LOTS of Baby Poweder.

Yep. I thought Yuen Wo Ping's work in The Matrix series was really good. Then I watched some of his films that he choreographed with Jet Li. Suddenly the fights in The Matrix were not that impressive anymore.

No they are from hongkong no opera school, opera school only for nowwadays chinese mainland actors and made them like a robot, garbage acting. They didn't learn acting skills, actors back in that time70s,80s,90s did learn like maybe 3 months,it's only to learn where to look when camera is on,just that and basic thing for camera stuff.

These two actors grew up together from the same instructor, they practice kung fu together for many years

Kung Fu Panda actually copied from his range of movies, some earlier ones that are quite funny (most of his earlier movies are very funny ones, I recommend you hunt it out eg Pedicab driver, Carry on pick pocket, a lot of laugh out loud Ghost movies etc). It was obvious to everyone in the movie world but no credit was given. He made close to 100 movies before Kung Fu Panda came along; a lot as producer, director and actor.

Dan Jackson agreed, it's a decent watch but to ignore his superior 70s/80s/90s work is clearly indicative of the usual lazy hollywood style compilations you get from 2nd rate researchers. That critique sounds harsher than I intended but nonetheless it's true, I've seen Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Donnie Yen etc all get similarly poorly researched compilations on youtube......

By the way the 70s and 80s movies don't have real kung fu styles. They only have parts of the styles incomplete

I love Sammo Hung! Ever since I saw Him fight Bruce Lee in Enter the Dragon I’ve been interested in Him. He’s truly a gifted Martial Artist, and He put in memorable performances in Ip Man 1 & 2 and the T.V. Series Martial Law, which also featured Bruce Lee’s Daughter Shannon Lee! :€)

He proved all of things one being just because his heavy or old doesn't mean he isn't a threat. Among the experts forever

The first time I saw a movie with Sammo in 1977, my thought was, omg, a fat guy is the star? Been a fan since. Enter the fat dragon is one of his best, Encounters of the spooky kind, Meals on Wheels, etc...

samo has been an inspiration to me since the early 80s, im a big guy but samo proved to me yep, you can kick a man in the face if you practice hard.. 46 years old now and i can still kick the top of a door! :)
