    Yash Chopra's "Veer Zaara" movie was also influenced for this initiative. The movie was released in November 2004 & that time a lot of peaceful appreciation & love among many Indians & Pakistanis were expressed on media, personal letters & greetings to the team. Hence, finally in around January/February of 2006, this train was started.

    British India's 2 dominant state BENGAL & PUNJAB affected most by partition. *Bengal was the worst sufferer as East Bengal was affected by West Punjab in Pakistan regime* So, The ultimate battleground was Bengal since 1947 & rest of British Indian state was merely audience.

  • @fatehjeetsingh1430

    @fatehjeetsingh1430

    U can't say bengal was the worst sufferer... Only 40% of Punjab stayed in india... rest went to Pakistan.. Most of the sikh empire and it's history is related to areas which are now not a part of present day india.. So we lost a big big chunk of our history. And after 1947, Punjab has always suffered... First Himachal pradesh taken out of Punjab, then haryana was formed from Punjab.. Even chandigarh is not a full fledge in Punjab.. After that all the 3 wars with Pakistan, china, kargil,,.. Punjabi people had the biggest contribution in army.. Punjab also suffered sikh genocide after 1984. Punjab had literally lost majority of its youth. So u can't say, that after partition, only bengal was worst affected.. Bengal suffered in 1947 just like Punjab, if not less. And once when Bangladesh was formed.

Kartarpur Corridor was opened by Prime minister Imran Khan's government and the whole thing was built from scratch. Also, its some sort of easy way to meet friends from being a common point. 4. Sikhs travel to Nankana Sahib city on buses crossing through Wagah border and the railways for them were ceased operations. Sikhs also travel to Kartarpur Corridor in masses as its also a holy site for them. Edit to point 3: Friends from India

    It is not my intention to underestimate the importance of having good relations between India and Pakistan, which is certainly the primary goal right now. But if you allow me to look to the future, I would like to observe that this railway route is the one that could potentially connect India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey and therefore Europe. If today there are regular freight rail services between China and Europe, why not think in the future to have similar services between India and Europe? Of course now the problems are mainly political, while the technical problems, which anyway do exist, could be easily overcome. But I hope for a better future for everyone where political problems can be just a memory of the past. All the best to Indian and Pakistani people from an Italian railfan!!

    Bangladesh was also part of INDIA before independence. The British empire created east Pakistan and west Pakistan after a lot of bloodshed.but Bangladeshi people even though a poor country it utilized its resources and manpower to emerge as one of the fastest growing economies. Whereas Pakistan was embroiled in it's on problems created by it's own political system. There is still time even for it to come out of the situation and develop into a powerful economic nation.and for it the railways play a major part as it(Pakistan) also inherited from the British empire.

    This is absolute gem of a documentary, had tears in my eyes. People in the comment section trying to poke eachother should embrace empathy towards eachother and accept each other's reality and forgive the past mistakes and leave in harmony , we were one, we shall be one, we shall be a commendable force in the sub-continent together ,helping and doing good for eachother .

    Indians talk like as if Indian government changed its cities into Singapore or Sydney. From a foreigner point of view all the cities of India , Pakistan looks same interms of lack of civic sense , traffic congestion, garbage filled streets etc. From my personal observation Sri Lanka is the only cleanest country in South Asia.

    Interesting..Gandhi didn't warn India about Partition but Jinnah. India didn't want partition, Muslim league did. Gandhi met Jinnah in the now famous Gandhi-Jinnah talks, but Jinnah persisted on Pakistan, thus a country was partitioned.

    Waoo, what a great production! Characters, background music, commentary and the overall concept is so touching. Bravo to the production team for making and uploading this documentary. With relation to this documentary, let me put an additional note. Pakistani, Indian and Bangladeshi governments should work together, keeping a common focus of improved and modern living standards, education, health, housing, sanitation, healthy food, jobs, scientific/industrial development, modernized agriculture, tourism, sports and many more productive avenues. Don't listen - Don't believe - Don't support haters!!! "Listen - Understand - Dialogue - Support" Respect, peace, care & cooperation!!!
