I think peterbilt and DAF are owned by the same company so they really do have the same engine but EU trucks need more torque since we got more hills and stuff and sometimes heavier cargo too. The US gets flat land.

Daf wins because its power to weight ratio, and also has less gear which is faster acceleration in flat area.
