Life is much more than that. U don't have to be alone, there's billions of people around the world to meet and places to go. It's nice to have someone but don't get into a relationship because ur lonely, as that relationship will be a headache and heartache. Fate will find its way to u. Most of us long for a deep connection. From a young age, we’re taught to believe in a romantic love that will be all encompassing. But the reality is that it’s so hard to find. And even when we do, most relationships end and ultimately leave us feeling broken. I love how this song captures that desire for that love, that idea of finding someone “to die for,” and the loneliness one feels during the search. I wish our society taught us that not having that love is perfectly ok, that we can be fulfilled with ourselves, and that obtaining that feeling of love from a deep friendship is just as valid.

Sometimes its not intentionally ,but it hurts a lot .Time sometimes heals but you'll be stuck with the memories that person gave you and it hurts when your thinking of that person and your not sure that person still remembers you 😭.I speak from experience .I still feel a little twitch when I see others laughing and being cute chaotic siblings .I have 10 siblings ,I have never met 4 and the ones that were close to me were having bad blood against my family since some of us had different mom /dad's .I didn't know my dad until I was 8 and he left a short while after my 10th bday . Well I now know not to keep toxic people in my heart .It was hard when I was 10,11,12,13 and now 14 I still don't want my heart open .I only want to find my lil brother and be close to him .I only have 2 siblings I trust .Maybe it will be 3 .

@@ThisIsWellMalik I have been meditating... I always though that as stupid but it really helps. 2018 and 2019 where hard for me due to depression and anxiety... 2020 was better. A few things I would recommend: Dont keep your pain and fears to yourself, if there is someone you trust talk to them. Put yourself first, there are times in your life where you have to stop worrying about others but realize that the most important person in your life must be you, it might sould selfish but it is not, just loving yourself overall and do and say what you thinks its best for you. For meditation, there are some youtube videos that you can use, they are called "affirmations". I use them very frecuently. Check the comments first and see what people have to say about those videos and if they work. That helped me get peace. Hope it helps. Its worked very well for me.

I'm so sorry that you feel this way. I hope you're better now. I know it dosen't help but sometimes it's just nice to hear that everything is going to be okey. So- it's going to be okey. Maybe not now or in the near future but it will...it has to be, right? I read somwhere that happy and joyous moments are little breaks in otherwise a sad life. Maybe it's true, but I hope with all my herat that it's not. If yoe ever feel lonely or sad, just look at the stars or clouds(I know stars are always there but you won't be albe to see them) and just remember that somwhere on Earth there is a little someone who is looking at the sky, too. An this little someone cares about you and hopes you're happy. I know you don't know me and I don't know you but dose is matter? You are in pain-what other reason do I need to worry about you and wish you were better? "If its meant to be it'll be" That's the biggest misconception ever. Look at all of the choices we're faced with, you think we have all of these opportunites and just one destiny? What most people don't understand is that it's a balance, the universe does its part aligning us(like meeting someone etc). We decide with every choice we make when given a chance the course of our destiny. Just because something is meant to be doesn't mean we can't screw it all up.

After you've experienced love, it's so lonely. I just want somebody to die for

Sucks when a relationship fails. Learning to unlove someone is the hardest thing you can ask a person to do.

This song, the lyrics and the video, I relate to sooo much! Especially when 'Sam's mannequin' in the video, is watching the couples outside the window, kissing, cuddling, hugging and looking happy with each other. I'm 19, I've never been in a real relationship and sometimes it gets painful whenever I see people have a girlfriend and boyfriend (I just envy it so much) ya know why? because it makes me wonder and think, "why haven't i had that yet?!" "Am i good enough for anyone?!" But there's something important that I've learnt, I've learnt that in order for someone to love you, you've got to love yourself first and find yourself, in order for someone to find you and love you. Also Love take time for most people. Rn I'm just going to focus on my inner happiness and Career, When I meet the right person and we connect, I will know, I know it will be my time one day, to have someone to die for.

Nothing is more powerful than true love. For the last year, I've been cut off from everyone in my life. Ever since my girlfriend of 2 years passed away, I haven't been able to snap out of it. I can't sleep, I can't eat, I can't stop thinking. She was so good to me. Never cheated, never lied, never talked to me without saying I love you. Sometimes she would sit there and say it a thousand times. Every time we had an argument, she would say it until I calmed down. Hugged me when she knew something was wrong. Didn't speak when she knew I was tired of hearing what others had to say. Truly a humble human being. She always cried when she saw me. Now that those days are gone, all I can do is live how she wanted me to. I know it is going to be hard, but I'm grateful she gave me the opportunity to feel like someone understood. The choice of using mannequins in this video was perfect. They represent all of us as a shell, a facade, and how one cannot be truly happy until they are known, understood, and loved. The changing of the seasons signify time moving on. The little girl represents innocence and youth being lost as we get older. The thief stealing the mannequin head at the end seems to indicate that we don't always know who we will end up with, and that it is not always someone that we would expect...

Feel like this song doesn’t get enough love!! It was dropped right before Covid! This video was dropped on my step brothers burial holds a special place in my heart. The way I had this song on repeat. No matter the phase Sam Goes through his vocals will forever come thru! Gotta love him for that

It just hit me hard when i saw the last Mannequin being all alone. I don't ever ever want to end up like that. It's scary and feels lonely even though I'm only watching it. I don't ever want to experience it.

There's something I have learnt about life, and is the fact that for all people there's a moment in which we totally feel alone. And the way the video portrays it by just being a manikin face watching everything happening in front of you... is pretty much how it feels. That search and that feeling just sometimes eats you, somebody "to die for" is the hardest thing to find. It takes time, but someday we will end that search. I understand completely the feeling, and just want to say to everyone who reads this... you'll find happiness and will find that person. And with this song Sam Smith is letting us know to don't give up. THANK YOU, really

I used to listen to this song A LOT earlier last year, wishing I had someone... and it happened. I started dating and I would have done anything for him... it was good til some point. But we broke up and now, four months later, everytime I see this song I skip it cause I don't really wanna somebody to die for. I just want me. I just need myself. And I am LIVING for me.

The lyrics, the music, Sam’s voice, the music video-everything-is simply so captivating and beautiful. I think everyone resonates with some part of this song some way or another. Here’s how I interpreted the video if any of you guys are interested! In the video, Sam’s mannequin head is on display, which can be symbolic to how he’s on the market/ready to date. Everyday, he suffers by seeing couples happily together because they are sharing an experience that he longs for (i.e. pure love) but fails to attain. At one point, we see Sam’s mannequin head crowned, perhaps showing us how he’s tried “fixing” & “adorning” himself to make himself more attractive/ desirable to others, but these attempts fail since no one bothers in taking him. We also see a child drawn to Sam’s mannequin head to maybe show that a child is something that Sam desires & considers worth dying for. At the end of the video, all the mannequin heads have been taken & Sam’s mannequin head is the only one on display. He’s the only one still single/lonely, but had to watch everyone around him get bought/ get into relationships. Finally, we see someone shatter the display glass & take Sam’s mannequin head, but the fact that the dude broke the glass to attain Sam’s mannequin head shows his character/ personality; the thief is clearly not a good guy & will only hurt Sam. Sam was lonely on the display, but when he is finally taken, he’s taken by a guy that might be abusive or toxic. The shattered glass can also be telling of how the thief will only shatter Sam’s heart in the end! Thank you for reading (if you got this far!)

"Sunshine living on a perfect day while my world's crashing down" is how I feel when my depression is especially bad. It's like the world is turning and everyone's happy and living their best lives while I'm in a standstill, watching them from a distance and falling apart slowly. I know that everyone has struggles and we're all trying our best to keep living, so I try to be more patient with myself these days.
