I think that this video is a Bachelor party and I think that Sam is in love with the guy that is getting married, particularly the one that climbs the ladder and throws the flower. Sam reaches up to him with sort of like a fake smile because he knows what the other person has to offer and he doesn't wanna be in a bad mood for his friends Bachelor party so he keeps it to himself that he knows he could be a better lover. I think the simplicity and open-ended quality of this video, and all of Sam's videos is amazing!

I always thought the lyric was "I'LL never love you like I can" which gives this incredible song a totally different story. I was kinda imagining Sam was describing the different types of "perfect guy" he's come across since finding "the one"-a lawyer, a charming stranger, the bad-boy-but because his heart has been broken so badly beforehand, he will never love again the way he once was able. "I'll never love you like I can." It's interesting how just one change in word completely shifts the story of a song! :)

This song came out when I was 10 and struggling to understand life, death, and everything in between because of what I was going through. 8 years after going through hells and back, I'm still not sure I can say I understand, but this time around I can say I'm learning to accept myself. I think this song was really meant for those who struggle to find love in themselves, so they looked everywhere- for everyone- else to just fall short again until they realize it starts with them. I think that's just as acceptable an understanding of this song as much as talking about a lover. It's funny what age and a little more thought can teach you going forward. ❤️
