Sam's Accident - Every Parents worst nightmare!
Our 2 year old son Sam has had his fingers sliced off after getting them stuck in a motorbike chain. We had to rush him to two different provincial hospitals so they could better attend to his injuries. This is our personal story of what happened to our son before, during and after his terrible accident, we hope no other parent has to go through a nightmare like this.

I am glad that your son only lost a small portion of his fingers where he should not lose function. Nobody else will say it but as a past bike owner with young kids and his friends around it for 8 years what the hell were you thinking? First, you never start the bike until you are fully prepared to leave. Second, before you start the bike you insure the kids are no place in sight. If they are you tell them to back off. Then you start the bike and before hitting the throttle you check again for kids. I did this over a thousand times and not once varied what I did. Your son never should have been near the bike that you started before you were ready to ride it. You already knew he was fascinated by the running bike you had prematurely started as two year olds are curious and you had a prior warning with him touching the exhaust pipe. When that occured you should have told them to go into the house or another part of the yard. I sure hope you change what you do with your motorcycle procedure as you did everything wrong. This was not an accident. You violated the proper protocol for starting a bike with young kids that don't know better. The fact that you already told him to move away once is exactly why you needed to check again. You were more preoccupied with being late to pick up another child. When you FU don't say it was an accident. You were negligent and you are lucky you did not end up with a son with a more serious injury.

That is crazy that they don’t allow both parents in the hospital, and that they don’t have a pharmacy right in the hospital so that doctors can give meds to their patients. I’m not sure if all hospitals in the Philippines are that way, bit it’s a poor health system. 😮
G'day Guys...Somehow I missed this, not sure how...so sorry for Sam & them fingers being shortened, but thankfully not gone, just a little shorter in length...As Parents it is never easy to see your love ones in pain & suffering. Yes, as well, the Hospital system in the Philippines is, at best Frustrating, trying to be Polite here 🤨🙄I'm glad in the end things were sorted out...also your point regarding Family was bang-on as well Blair, we sometimes forget, just how Important they are when the chips are down... stay strong... Cheers 🍻

My little girl had phenomena while in Mindanao. She was so sick .The private hospital at pagadian city was absolutely hopeless .Had her on a drip for three days , no other treatment at all .A drip is just a easy way to extort cash from people .We were uninsurable at our end in Australia, because of the fact that Insurance companies here won't cover Mindanao. Everyday the staff at this hospital had there hand out for money , even though there was no sign of improvement. our daughter was getting sicker , took her to a public hospital at ozamiz city about 100 klms away .after 2 days she was so much better .We were in the Philippines visiting my wifes parents , which I forgot to clarify earlier.

I'm so glad that things are okay and that Sam still has 5 fingers! What happened to your back? If you don't mind me asking. I have really bad back pain for 2 years that has left me disabled. Constant lockdowns from dictator Dan meant that I haven't been able to get thorough treatment.

@@LeahandBlair that's awesome! I'm glad that you've been given a second chance!
I can relate to your experience, My late husband was confined in a government hospital. Though only one person was allowed inside my hubby's room but the staff was very considerate. Three of us were allowed because one person can't do the whole job of taking care of my husband. Yes, security guards are very strict but only one from several shifts. When one security sent my daughter and son out and my husband needed to be lifted from bed, I told the guard, " You drove my kids away, now lift my husband.! Do it yourself because I can"t lift him.". The guard did not say anything and from that day on until my hubby's death he did not impose his policy. Because he realized that there are exceptions to the rule.

Hmm exactly. It's tough hey! ❤️
Early childhood training is quite needed for their own good when they grew up. It's better to train them to do household chores.
Be careful kabayan sa mga bata bantayan nyo palagi' wag ipaglaro sa mga daan at mga makina!
While giving Sam the toy, I was half expecting a security guard to walk in and interrupt that no toys are allowed due to covid 🤨
