Sam Kennedy and the Red Sox are delusional. Last place 3 out of the last 4 years is competitive? And what's with the softball questions? Just be blunt and tell Sam Kennedy the Red Sox starting pitching sucks and why aren't they doing anything to improve it? Just making fringe moves and adding injured players doesn't cut it.

Don't act like you still wouldn't be complaining if the Red Sox had overpaid for Montgomery or Snell (or both) and those contracts ended up being busts. Y'all are still complaining about the Red Sox overpaying for price and sale, who are both better pitchers (when healthy) than Montgomery and Snell... Stop acting like the Red Sox are refusing to overpay for Sandy Koufax and randy Johnson.

The Red Sox is worth a billion dollars. A Billion! They act like the money made at Fenway didn't catapult FSG's ambitions to become a conglomerate of sports and sports media. Things he said and omitted from saying have validity. But improving the most vital player on the defensive side of the ball, the pitching, lowers his answer about investing in the defense.

According to Forbes, as of March 2023, the team is actually worth $4.5 billion. They paid $660 million in 2002. While investments have certainly been made, much more has been earned over that timeframe. Money that we as a fanbase have invested in this team.

$1 billion is a 1/4 of what the Red Sox are worth, they’re not that far behind the Dodgers so FSG crying poor is ridiculous

Because you haven’t put a good team since 2018. They don’t want to invest, so WTF is he even talking. Pivetta just yesterday was homered, i Love Pivetta but he is not even a decent Pitcher. 2 years in a row in last place! Also Red Sox were the 4th team in the complete MLB making money last season, putting a bad product. The part I don’t understand is why fans keep this making them money, until we fans don’t start hitting them in the wallet, they will not change course.

Most "Huge" deals don't work out, and I'll never be a fan that wants or expects 300 mill deals to be thrown out there every summer, but making comments like "we think this is a 86 win team with our improved defense" or whatever the number was while making NO effort to improve the rotation is indefensible. If you really believe this is a 86 win team, then why not sign a pitcher to make it a 90+ win team? Good luck even winning 86 when your star player already knows the team isn't good enough, in February!

Of course he's not going anywhere, why would he? He has the perfect ATM machine in the Red Sox. Minimal spending, no effort put towards winning, collect your profit sharing millions at the end of the year. Easy. Why would anyone ever give that up lol? I'd love to see some legislation to make the state of Massachusetts forcibly take ownership of the Sox. Team has a lot of public value, a couple of stingy billionaires shouldn't be able to ruin it for everyone in New England.

This team will lose 100 games this year and I think they know that. Maybe they want to be the recipient, rather than the payor, of revenue sharing. Who would not want a nice check from the Brewers or Twins for the next few years. I think the ownership figured out that its possible to lose games and win money.

Spend all that money on Devers and give away players that were much better players and leaders. Devers is a great player but not elite. Devers can’t even communicate with most players. How can he lead a bunch of young guys. Boston gave away two elite leaders and players and saved face with Devers. Fans already caught on. Fans need to show them they are unhappy. And only way to hurt them is with ticket sales
