    We need to emphasize, too, that the non-Abrahamic religions are equally unimpressed with the Bible and the Koran. My only response to the religious any more is, "First persuade the rest of the world's believers to stop killing each other over god beliefs. When that happens AND they've also accepted YOUR version of god beliefs, then get back to me."

    It's so hard to except that these people truly believe this full stop. They tell you they do, there actions show that they do, yet we still seem to have this erroneous feeling that typically reads like: "well yeah they say that but I mean...I doubt they REALLY are as on bored with all this as they claim." Yet they prove it to us daily. You can't screw this up. You blow yourself up killing other Muslims, sending them to paradise, the unfaithful & the devout people who we're born into the wrong religion will get sent to hell, and you'll have completed your Jihad and be rewarded in the next life with 72 virgins. (now I love Cheese Cake, however if it's been sitting in the freezer for 30 years I'll pass) it's a win in there mind on all fronts. This is the idea that we are at war with, and idea's die slow, We might never have a solution for. It's just so hard to imaging waking up 1day & thinking in this way. We try thought experiments with our selves to see what it would feel like to believe with 100% of your being, this faith. However you can't unlearn, or unsee, or unhear what you already know. We all took the red pill, we can't get ourselves in that mind set, you can't block out science, so we revert back to, "well they say that, but deep down I'm sure they have reservations, nobody could interpret scripture so univocality." NO! They say what they mean, & act out what they say. We still grapple with the idea that somewhere deep inside there's a rational person in there...NO. #BurnTheBible #BurnTheQuran

    It’s ironic Harris says that to not believe in a god is to know that it is up to us to make the world a better place, which is one of the teachings of Christianity and perhaps other religions. The Christian Lords Prayer for stance contains “on earth as it is in heaven” which is a call to people to make earth just like they imagine heaven to be. Harris is not a dumb individual but some of his indoctrination has him wading in the shallow pool.

    I've never had enough faith to be an atheist, so I guess I'll just muddle alone and continue to be an agnostic. I hate fundamentalism of all religions including atheists. Can't we just live with the mystery?

  • @huxleybennett4732

    @huxleybennett4732

    Gnosticism and theism answer different questions. Theism/Atheism = Do you believe in a god? Gnosticism/Agnosticism = Do you think you know your side of the above is right? Everyone is always a combination of the two questions, you would be an agnostic atheist, the same as me and I would guess Sam Harris too (though I don’t remember if he’s said). The thing about agnosticism though, is that it doesn’t mean you have to say both sides are equally valid, or to ignore the impact that certain beliefs have on the world. It simply means you can analyse the evidence and understand that you are simply aiming for the best understanding of things - not that you throw your hands up and say you can’t reach perfection right away so why bother trying to reach better. You can perfectly well say that, but arguing that specific religions and bad reasoning are things we don’t want to have such an impact on life, is not based on faith, it is based on the evidence. Your dismissal of the evidence until it reaches a complete explanation of everything - that is far closer to faith.

    To those with faith, no explanation is necessary. To those without faith, no explanation will ever suffice. Since you obviously don’t have faith, then why not consider moving on with your life instead of spending your time droning on & on about something you think doesn’t even exist anyway? Why on earth would u think its so very important for u to be giving such devotion to something you’re really thinking doesn’t even exist in the first place? From your perspective, it’s looking like you’re wasting considerable amount of your lifetime thinking about a subject that really is nothing more than, “Much Ado About Nothing”. However, if you’d rather keep on trucking, then by all means, keep on knocking yourself out!

    You said: "To those without faith, no explanation will ever suffice." Not true. To those who respect science, explanations that deepen our understanding of the laws of nature will suffice over ignorance. Science has given us an explanation for the germ theory of disease with millions of lives saved and much suffering avoided because of it. God, in his infinite wisdom, somehow neglected to inform us of germ theory in the Bible. Science has give us a view of the universe with as many as 20 TRILLION galaxies according to new James Webb Telescope. The Bible never explained what a single star really was let alone a single galaxy. Knowledge from science, although unfolding and incomplete, is vastly superior and more awe inspiring than out-dated ignorance from the Bible.

    As an atheist, I feel the need to speak out just so our government doesn’t create laws based on the Bible. I believe that everyone is welcome to their faith, but many of us don’t want it imposed on us. The only thing we have to “fight” these laws being passed is to share our understanding of why religion doesn’t work for all!

    To those with knowledge of the world history and intelligence, religion makes absolute NO sense. To those without knowledge of the world, historical facts, and willing to question things that are simply not explained, religion is everything that holds their fragile life to an unknown meaning to an institution that has never served humans in a positive light.. but youd never know or understand because you dont even know the history of what you follow.😂
