Sam Fender interview: 'Newcastle West End foodbank restored my faith in humanity'
Музыка
Sam Fender interviewed at his local foodbank.
Sam Fender is one of the UK’s most exciting artists. He’s got a string of arena concerts coming in the new year, but recently he accepted The Big Issue’s invitation to come and help out at Newcastle West End Foodbank as they get ready for Christmas.
Sam Fender has just announced his biggest headline gig to date - a 40,000-capacity concert at Finsbury Park in London next summer in support of his number one album Seventeen Going Under. He followed up by doing an interview with the New York Times.
But he is also man with a keenly felt social conscience. Last year, he joined forces with The Big Issue to release a Christmas single, Winter Song, raising awareness about homelessness. At the same time, he sold a special edition of the The Big Issue through his own website, direct to his fans, with proceeds going to our vendors. This year, he’s putting his fingers on the line by accepting our invitation to provide a morale boost for the hard workers in the bustling foodbank.

It's really getting back to Victorian times now, when people have nothing they literally have nothing. Well done West End Foodbank and good lad helping out Sam Fender.

The fact that it is the 21st century and we are still in poverty because of the greedy bastards wanting more and more and more. Smoggy lass here but had to move away 250 miles to get a job. Places like this deserve all the help they can get. I hate the thought of someone hungry

Sams a good lad 👍
He deserves all the success in the world
It's so sad that it came to this. The Tories remove DWPs interest free 'crisis loans', their banker friends respond by giving people 'emergency borrowing' loans that strip them with crazy interest and send them into a debt spiral. Tada food banks. It's heartbreaking. Massive thanks to all of you that contribute to the community, you're the best.
I tried to get work experience here when I was younger and have met the leader in the video when I got invited to the place but after the meeting I was ignored. Got the sense I was being judged.
Where's the rest of the Band..🎸🎸🎸🎸🥁🎷
