I think it hits home with a lot of us... On both sides of a partnership.. It seems to be a really sad truism that we are attracted to those who can have similar 'triggers' and emotional vulnerability to ourselves, which we probably don't recognise in the early days... Only in retrospect, when it's often too late. That's really bludgeoning...

Well he's producing some amazing stuff. The drums, the lyrics....but the sax is it's what's been missing from music for ages.

I've waited 25 years to hear an artist produce music that we will still be listening to in another 25 years time . This guy is the best I've heard since Oasis . I am blown away with these songs . You are an absolute legend Sam . Crack on lad 👍👍👍

I know exactly what you mean. I love music. I listen to and appreciate new artists all the time. I haven’t been stopped in my tracks for quarter of a century. Sam Fender has done that to me five or six times in the past 10 weeks. He’s astonishing.

"A pathetic little boy, who has come to get you down". Astounding. There is no one else out there writing lyrics as meaningful as this. The kid is special.

I don't know his first album but I love how his second deals with the underlying issues that affect young men growing up in a working-class environment. Things we were taught to suppress from an early age which then manifest in our adulthood often wreaking our relationships as we come to terms with unconscious toxic masculinity, mental health and an inability to communicate our problems. Truly an album that will live far beyond it's time

Again, another brilliant song and music video. While Spit of You is my favourite single, this also has words that explain a situation I can relate to. I've been in a relationship for over 7 years and it's not always been easy. I've had rows with my partner about how shitty I am and how miserable I feel and the whole speech of "how can you still stay with when I'm like this". I can see the self-destructiveness is embedded in the video and the words of which describe how I have felt about myself many times before. And you feel like you're letting your partner down in the process. It's a horrid feeling, but a very real feeling. Thank you again Sam for writing that into words that describe my feelings perfectly.

However, I think that "Get You Down" is the centre song of the whole second album. It is a beautiful, adolescent-power song which brings a gazillion youth feelings to a listener.

Why does the entire album gets me back to the time when I was 16 - my friends, the smiles and laughs and hugs and the running around my tiny, dirty hometown. I literally have all these images flowing through my mind whenever I hear his songs.

Discovered him on Spotify in 2018 with the single The Borders. Say no more.
