Yeah, this could be another career resurrection like Sam Bradford: an immensely-talented QB who never had weapons or pass protection. The film looks way better than the stats, although his release is not as nearly as quick as Sam's which might get him killed one day.

@@laudanum669 Watching highlights of Sam Darnold he looks like a mix of Kirk Cousins and Josh Allen... good in the pocket but can run too... like for a 40 yard Touch Down! As a die hard Viking supporter l liked Kirk Cousins... but last year was the year he was going to take us deep in the payoffs but he got injured and his injury will have an affect on his mobility... so now I would prefer Darnold who is younger and can both throw and run! And will be a good QB1 with a potential to be more but is a great QB2 as presidentzippy5506 points out. I am encouraged!

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but if this is it for Sam with us, I’m gonna miss him. I really want him to come back but if he doesn’t, I really enjoyed watching him this year. Sam nearly getting us to the playoffs will be a memory that I will always be thankful for.

Agree. I've grown to really like him and enjoy seeing the chemistry he had with the team this season. I wouldn't mind having him back either. He grew a lot with Wilks. More time in the right system and with the right coach, and he's got a lot more potential left.

I agree everyone is saying we need a qb we don’t Sam was light out 10 tds 3 ints over 100 rating and over 1,000 yds he was great as a runner too brought extra time big arm hard to bring down that’s what I have been telling panther fans if we draft someone we will be looking for all The qualities sam already has he deserves to start for us he earned that

He def deserves much more credit dude was really good down the stretch everything that darnold brings to the table is what a rookie qb brings and darnold is still young as hell too doesn’t make sense to draft a qb stick with Sammy next year bring back the team and wilks

who's coming here as a vikings fan? I remember there was a lot of buzz from Carolina camp that Darnold was actually pretty competent this year. Imagine he'll be better with the best supporting cast in the NFL and an offensive coach in KOC.

@@baconator1550 "was" buzz during "this year" referencing the year of the vid highlights ie 2022 when he was a panther... but yes last year he was a 49er in 23 where he somewhat surprisingly at the time beat out lance for qb2. and now this year a viking in 2024 where he'll hopefully be an upgrade over any non kirk qb from last year.

He lowkey played really well for being hurt most of the year. Tbh this was his best season of his career

After watching Geno in 2022 I learn to not label a QB as terrible until he has a chance to play with a team with good coaches and weapons. Darnold has that now.

10 min of Darnold for only 6 games is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen wish he could have played all season

Niners fan here. He looks much better than what most have labeled him as. Excited to see what he can do with McCaffrey, Kittle, Aiyuk, Deebo, and Jennings!

Him and CMC are good friends. Darnold is a young VERY talented QB. Remember he was the #1 pick in the draft for a reason.

I really appreciated Darnold’s commitment this season. He gets a lot of unnecessary hate.

Back here after the SF signing, they got a stud, looking forward to next season

We signed him last year. He comes out 3-0 shocking the NFL. Then they lose and automatically want to give up on him. I'm still a fan of him. And really want to see how his career goes. #keeppounding

No matter how good he plays, the media won't get off his case. He's young, still tuning his game. A good oline and darnold is a great pairing.

Even though he had a rough 2021 season he really showed strides this past half of the season and he along with DJ Moore with that offense and defense are special. I hope they keep him around a couple more seasons with Steve Wilkes.

Fans hate him but I don't. Hoping to resign. Get him some oline depth(starters are str8), a TE who make plays in the passing game consistently, a decent OC & let's roll. If Sammy D bombs, we got Corral or whichever rookie QB we draft waiting.

He's with Vikings now. I'm impressed with highlights; everyone is wondering which QB the Vikes will draft, but after watching Darnold's highlights, I think he's the Viking quarterback for as long as he can make plays like this. He has great mobility, great under pressure and throws deep and also into tight coverage. I'm impressed and hope he enjoys working with the team here and the great talent the Vikings have. I think he is going to do very well if he works hard at all aspects- he can make the Vikings the Conference Champs this year and dare I say, take them to the Super Bowl. This team is coming together nicely.

Welcome to my 49ers man if he gets an opportunity to play wit san frans talent around him and shanahan calling plays, shit the dude might have like a 24 td 8 int type season add like 4 rushing tds or something. Something solid. But hey definitely good for our depth with starter potential

He did what he needed to do this season to solidify himself as a great backup in the nfl

Watching this after the Vikings signed him. Looking at the stats, he looked like he actually showed some growth in 2022 with a 92.6 passer rating vs 76.9 in his first 4 years. Maybe he can pull a Geno after spending last year learning from Shanahan and now getting Josh McCown as his QB coach.

I never really seen him play until now. And man does he have an arm, he can really whip that ball out! and also run pretty quick! Hopefully he’ll do good for us! You’ll never know sometimes it takes guys longer to get things going.

am i the only one that hopes this team sticks together ???!! from players to coaches, everything was going well when wilks stepped up. Sam actually looked great, and should’ve won the division. i think tepper is blinded by all the noise that he doesn’t see the potential of letting everyone stick together under this program.

Don’t know why people don’t want him back next year. He clearly can make some big time plays when he has enough time in the pocket. Still think we should resign him as that bridge/veteran presence until the QB we draft gets up to speed

3:15 arguably catch of the season was so crazy!

He’s had the talent but never had an OC or a offensive line. This year he had a real offensive line and he showed out. Makes you wonder 🤔🤔

Darnold will get one more year. He had one bad game in the ones he played. All others were winnable attempts. I’m happy we got 7 wins instead of 5 and I’m happy bc of the improvement I seen this year.

If Bryce was their at 9 I would say it’s worth it (which he obviously won’t be) I can’t say the same for cj though. I trade for a potential top 3 next year and grab Williams or maye.

They could have been way better if they had taken care of the HC situation earlier in the season. I have always said this team was a great group of talent, but was poorly coached. They transformed after those changes were addressed. I believe they will come back with a BANG!!!!

Hm didn't think he was as mobile as he was with the Panthers than the Jets. Looks like they'll be competition. Deep ball to add to that too. I guess Shanahan or whoever picked him liked those additional traits along with the windows Jimmy seems to throw at?

If Darnold plays halfway decent I can see him starting up to the 1st half of next season for SF. No need to rush Purdy back from injury.

QB style points don't win games, QB efficiency does., I'll take an efficient yet boring QB like Jimmy who wins games over an exciting flashy QB like Darnold who loses games. I do agree that Darnold will do well surrounded with more talent and a great play caller in Kyle. Jimmy turned this team around in 17 and we haven't won without him until Purdy came along, He did a damn good job for us and 49ers fans should be grateful for him instead of the never ending whining about his lack of a deep ball and not being a mobile QB.

Teams need all three Qbs nowadays!!! Longer seasons. Keep him and Matt if we draft another Qb or get Lamar fr.

Amazing how many wanted him out of Carolina even after seeing this last year. Crazy

DJ Moore would be very upset if they don't resign him from this video. Darnold has some Mahome traits with a high ceiling, but man his low floor is pretty bad too. He has hero ball tenancy when his team isn't very good or getting depressed; just tossing it out there. Saw this at USC when he was behind he started to chuck it, but USC WRs were usually bigger than the other DB in college. But with a good OL and some coaching, he might be a bargain free-agent signing. He is trusting his OL better and being more patient with the scheme developing more, less hero-ball. Maybe he needs some elbow pads, when hit he fumbles too much, or just learn to give up and slide earlier. No need to hero ball every play. Rhule got him hurt playing with 3rd stringers in a preseason.

Some of those frozen ropes against Tampa let's one really see what a rocket arm the dude has.
