Salvatore Maranzano’s rise would see him go against New Yorks criminal kingpin Joe Masseria, leading to the Castellammarese war on the streets.
With the help from gangster Lucky Luciano, Maranzano would win the war. Leading to the formation of New York’s five family, with Maranzano declaring himself the boss of all bosses.
His luck would run out in the end though after falling out with Luciano, leading to his death in September 1931.
