Cpont63 Same with literally any sporting career. I played tennis professionally from the ages 16-20 here in Australia. There were many poor judgements and terrible line calls but I wouldn't yell and curse and show poor sportsmanship. The success of taking the step from an amateur to a professional level is psychological, if you can't keep a level head; you'll never reach your full potential and come off as emotionally weak.

People get salty, it's not like real sport, all of their energy is kept, which makes the salt harder to keep under control. It's like saying they cznt get mad cuz its a game, it doesnt make sense, it doesnt matter how salty the guy is, if he has enough respect to shake hands then they deserve as much respect as the next guy.

The rule stats (at least in my region) that if you pause at any time during a match when you're not on your own re-spawn platform, then you forfeit a stock. I'm not saying I agree or disagree, I'm just saying that the tournament was following the rules.

The real ass is these opposing player. Any rule can be ignored if the opponent agrees. If someone pauses in the middle of your combo, yeah, tell him to kill himself. If you literally just respawned and it's 0-0 in neutral, you can say "No, let him keep it." I put the asshat tag on the other player in that situation.

Mitchell Holcomb Well the opponent never said anything, so they went by the book. Alternatively, the TOs can go into the settings and make sure that pause is turned off so that this scenario is entirely prevented.

Love when they spike their controller hard af, scare the dude next to them, but still give the fistbump. Like they're ragers, but at least they have manners lol

I love how their always nice to the other person and then instantly smashes their controller afterwards.

@@azurlune1877 basically, there are GC controllers out there that have ever-so-slightly malfunctioning mechanisms in the joysticks fresh out the box. These controllers are highly saught after by Melee players because they allow for more advanced techniques than what a stock, functional controller can achieve, but the specific kind of malfunction needed is something that would be incredibly difficult to replicate on purpose and outlawed anyway for being modded, hence their scarcity. They are so heavily relied on by certain groups of pro level Smashers that they will flat out refuse to compete if forced to use a propperly functioning controller even though such controllers should really be against the rules due to blatantly being modified to give an unfair advantage.

@@SpaceMissileFrom what I‘ve heard it‘s only the technique that‘s either outright banned, or being put under a general "infinite" rule of only allowing infinite combos up to a certain percentage (like 300% or sth) and you lose the set if you go over that value during an infinite (like wobbling).
