While I definitely agree with the sentiment, the problem for most career youtubers is no video posted= no money being made while also slipping further down the algorithm. It sucks but you gotta do what you gotta do.

i'm old enough to not believe in fairy tales anymore. first, they'll have to figure out how to make the ai not cluster in a single spot and not stand on raised surfaces. that'll be an achievement in itself, considering this issue has been around for 3+ years.

I dont expect 4.0, I do expect a 3.24 and possibly a 3.25 first. The only way we will get a 4.0 is if they rush it stripped down and bugged all to hell. Anyone remember 3.0? 3.18?

@@Tael71I don’t think there will be a 3.24 but you’re right: no reason to rush. Small issues in the PTU scale up to game breaking disasters if the process is rushed. I don’t believe they will let 3.18 happen again, and we need to be patient and remember how bad it was.

Its amazing how many things get month to month attention when they are things that you can tell were born from “it would be cool if…” and are actually things that don’t need so much attention because they get noticed maybe once then fade into the background, forgotten.
@SaltEMike 35:00. - Mike, you can actually sell items en masse but they have to be stored in a physical container first. Once you fill a container (of any size) and (with any combo of items) move that container into local inventory. Go to the areas cargo center and use the “sell” tab, NOT quick sell. It will display all items in the container as well as the credit value and you can sell in one go. The container is sold in the process but it’s what we’ve got for now. You can also sell items in bulk using the sell tab but they have to be stacked first inside the inventory system. Helmets, mags, undersuits, etc.
OoI mechanic section breakdown: All it is trying to say is when you scan it will highlight objects of interest with a different color than the scan color, and when they are occluded (behind an object) it will show different so you know there is no LOS.
star citizen - bringing back icons from 1990 for your console game enjoyment.
I want to see like "Ping camo" suits. Make them reflective so they don't appear on scan/radar, but visually are shiny so easier to see with the naked eye.
I think the idea of your jump-drive taking damage when getting close to the edge of the tunnel rather than being thrown out immediately is a cool idea. Will be interesting to see what happends when we get thrown out though. We know that as soon as we jump, Stanton gets unloaded and Pyro gets loaded, and as Mike mentioned, in the preview you would 'spawn' in Pyro at the exact same position as when you started jumping. However my guess is that we'll just get teleported to the exit point in Pyro rather than actually being moved across the system while we're flying in the tunnel. If that is the case our should will actually just be standing still while the tunnel is moving around us, rather than we moving in the tunnel. That is my guess at least. What I'm wondering then is of course what happends if you get thrown out 🤔A guess is that the shorter distance we have traveled through the tunnel the further away from the actual exit point we'll get placed at, maybe at a random angle relative to the exit point, or maybe further out away from the star.

That inscrutable cargo diagram, looks interesting - the question will be: Will we have that screen as part of UI for Cargo Elevator in Persistent Hangars? Preceded by: In which year will we get Persistent Hangars?! Occasionally in my 3.23 travels, I've some different behaviours from NPCs: Wildline dialogue from the NPCs behind counters at Outposts; Hurston guards in Lorville gesturing and saying one of three wildlines - but mostly, I've seen them congregating at a cafe or bar in a giant mob ... whilst other shops have no staff present, rofl!
Bro, the elevator/warehouse UI, it’s a mock up. Why at this time, if .2 is so close is this a mock-up. It’s like concept art. We are so screwed.

@SaltEMike The x10 and 1/10 is that there is a stack of 10 in the warehouse, and you are transferring 1 of the 10 in the stack into your elevator

@25:00 I'm also confused by the complete lack of transparency, lens flare, drop shadows, blur, glare, motion blur or other general readability problems of the UI. Like how am I supposed to know I'm struggling to play star citizen with this relatively clean easy to read UI.

I think the damaged jump drive bit is if there is a fire or malfunction like the engineering event things that are supposed to happen. Or also someone onboard starts taking a wrench to your drive sabotage style.
They mentioned ammo boxes in the SCL the other week. I'm thinking "x5" is the stack of guns. 5 guns stacked on eachother of that brand/size. Then the "1/10" is the current ammo in that gun. The small boxes/backpacks are possibly the ammo boxes, as they're x10 per icon. However, there is that ominous "x50" one near the top, leading me to believe they could be stacked in bigger amounts, and those are just preset stacks someone put there to fill out the image and give that hint. More curious, the top corner said "Small Container" and "500/1000 SCU" on both sides. So I'm assuming that what's shown there is the contents of a "small" container (possibly one of those larger containers they showed off a while back, something around 16SCU or so?), but the overall capacity of the elevator/warehouse is 1000SCU. It's a little confusing, so we'll have to wait for Evo/PTU. It would be weird if the most you can store at a station is what fits on a single elevator trip, though. Maybe it's just cut-and-paste there like the items on each side, though?
Material means like wood, brushed steel, or hologram. The sq42 preview showed characters through walls after a scan, and they were made up of a holograph material.

It's more. Wood, steal, etc is the texture. Material is the properties applied to the textures related to brightness, masking, reflection or transparency and other...so wood looks like wood, steel looks like steel and crystal looks like crystal. Materials can be composed by several other materials so that composite can be applied with modularity over the 3D mesh.

I Just subbed. You're the only objective non-apologetic SC observer I've found on YT. Waited 12 years for the devs to get their act together. I will finally jump into the game when 4.0 hits. Man it had better be half playable.
Objects of Interest sound like collectible items, and the work they're doing seems to be functionality to scan for them. _huffs copium_ And it sounds like it'll work for finding missions in the PU
@Saltemike Material is just a computer graphics term describing a texture/lighting combination. On a super simple level, when the object is occluded, it could look like a plastic, and then like tin foil when it is not occluded, or in line of sight.

They are probably using the word "material" in the way it's used in 3D modeling which essentially just another way of saying "skin" - similar to when a city is on the close of far side of the planet it has a different logo.
Hope you get to feeling better! That cargo UI reveal is pretty interesting. I think that the core purpose is just to show that the feature lets the player load many things onto the elevator from their storage with relative ease. I hope that there will be an 'auto arrange' button because I am not interested in playing cargo elevator Tetris. Some folks might but I don't. Other than that, the picture just shows a nice drag and drop space but seems to lack a search feature or search bar. Man I would love a search bar on this thing. So my comments are 'great this is cool, add an auto arrange button and a search bar then ship it.'
In the picture of the elevator and warehouse storage the 1x, 5, and 10x is probably sniper scope magnification. The other things that look like magazines are probably just scopes but they show a top down image because the sniper image it looks flat. The 1/10 is probably 1 shot in chamber and 10 in mag.
Are the numbers rounds in the gun versus number of guns?

Jump Tunnels: they have the obstacles in the way. You strike one, and then damage is caused to the item, the item allowing you to travel through the tunnel in the first place.

Having NPCs pushing the stuff around especially in the cargo facility and in the area you buy the multi tool would be nice. Do we need it, no. But immersion is a massive thing this game does well. The more tiny details that get added the less likely the bugs stick out.

The 'material' thing to me is game dev terminology for what gives and object the ability to be seen by you. For example a metal material for a blade or a plastic material for a health pack. When a thing dorsnt have a material you usually end up with the magenta box thing where the object is. But materials can also do things like make an object have the look it does when you scan it. I read that whole occluded material thing as stuff related to the fps scanning. When you ping and there is a person on the other side of the wall you'll get a certain (probably holographic), look

the whole thing with the rifles in the inventory is simple, the x1 or x10 in the top right of the item stands for quantity, the 1/10 stands for the ammo and its chamber, 10 in the mag 1 in the chamber, it would change depending on the gun, p4ar would probably be 1/30 or 1/20 depending on how full the magazine is, this is pretty basic inventory layout for openworld games likes dayz or scum
Yeah, how dumb the Effort vs Reward thing, even for box mission. I can deliver multiple one-box mission for 4-6k aUEC when other contract offers are 3 boxes for 6-9k, 5 boxes for 12k, 10 boxes for 15k. Like wtf? Also Package handler mission should reward far higher than regular delivery. With regular delivery you just picks up box, fly, deliver box. With package handling, you would have to go around the huge, motion sickness inducing DC that are prone to bugs at every corner. CIG also have to figure out the animation from holding boxes to opening Mobiglass, because it will send the package across the planet each time I want to see the map.
the word refactor was in the monthly report 13 times I think? are they remaking the game for the 3rd time? 4th time? lots of spicy decisions this time around.

It isn't that crazy, man. "refactor" could be a single engineer doing 30 minutes of work making sure whatever functions are calling all the new variables properly. Or it could be the entire team spending 6 months redoing a core system because it was originally made without something like Server Meshing in mind. It's nebulous and impossible to gauge what is actually being done.
Have not played some 3.18 honestly. Popped on for a little to check out Invictus, but that was it. Maybe 1hour tops.

The 1/10 might also be weapon size... so size 1, where size 3 would be 3/10
It doesnt make sense for the Trolley AI to be apart of SQ42. that is just something background as your character walks through a hanger for missions. A basic looping animation would work for that. Unless I'm missing something but SQ42 is just a linear fps with flight combat. Having complex trolley AI is useless there

I saw AI fighting 1 time at area 18 it was 2 guards just spraying and praying and killing everyone but each other it was nuts.

The 1/10 thing on the guns I think is 1 of the 10 in inventory, each gun being too large to stack. Possible way for them to link unstuckables for group selling.

actually the 1/10 thing is how many ammo in that ship gun. you can see it in PU local inventory when you buy your ship new gun or you switch your ship's gun to other.

Armor mainly is fluff in sc . Almost like the ships. They look cool but are not designed to be useful just to look good. I'll check sc in 5 yrs . Maybe it'll be worth playing until then it's dcs.

3:12 Why do we need to see NPCs moving trollies in the PU? What are you talking about?!!! We need them for inmersion becaue if there's nobody in the verse, there's only empty buildings. And casual players aren't going to help so much to the lore unless you think in the kind of stuff they can pull in Fornite or GTA Online.

At this point I'll just be happy for a complete squadron 42. As for the MMO, CGI doesnt have the necessary technical skills to pull this off..period. This will never be completed..ever!

Man their missions don't even work. My opinion since the beginning has been simple. Get rid of all NPCs besides the ones behind a desk. Limited the clutter, boost FPS. Who here, actually cares about seeing NPCs? Who?

I dont mine a few but i definitely agree there's way too many i understand seeing like 5-10 in the cargo bay maybe 1-3 in lobbys but everyone else like theres no reason 60-80 npcs should be in space stations

How do they optimise for NPC performance if they don't have NPCs in? The same people complaining about them and wanting to get rid of them now will be complaining about them later when they're added and unoptimised and don't work. That's why you add in features now and iterate up until beta, which is where you begin to optimise, cull and standardise features for release.

@@luis567lr Sometimes there are grouping bugs due to runtime looping errors. They are slowly beginning to round out the appropriate NPCs and behaviours in the verse with each new patch. It will simply take time given the scale of the game and how many processes it's running. I cannot think of any other MMO out there with this level of density of NPCs and NPC behaviour.
Why are CIG so obsessed with a visual 'tetris' style inventory screen. Those make sense in games where the concept of inventory space is limited by the grid and how you arrange your items. For Star Citizen it just makes the inventory look worse and function worse. Give us a text-based layout with item previews when we hover or click on an item. Come on.

My prediction for what they're saying about the multi-tool is just that "bringing it in line with the S42 military multi-tool" simply means how it handles and adding some secondary actions to certain modules. I still think we're going to have singular modules like we do now. They may just add more functionality to a single module on right click. I assume the secondary functions of some modules will, in fact, be ADS. Like the mining module's "secondary" will just be ADS while the tractor beam, which may require an ADS function less, will have something else like the rotation binding on right click. Either way, I think you're reading too much into the "bringing it in line with s42" comment. But I could also be wrong, who knows, lol.

Sadly CIG's credibility is very low. They repeatedly make statements and then either backtrack or outright drop it. You cant take them at their word on anything anymore.
Sometimes I feel like there needs to be a CIG translator or SaltEMike translator to somewhat break things down or put things in "laments terms" so its easier to understand lol
Much talking no progress to be seen. Lets be honest, the server status reflects CIG and the way this is going.

No progress? We just got a new patch. And that 700 million dollar milestone (706 now) comes with growing pains- we’ve all seen the massive influx of new players from ILW which got massive exposure from summit and others. The servers suck right now, keep testing and adding data sets so the devs can do their job. Or if you don’t like testing and just wanna play- I’d say play something else and come back later?
