Throw a line in the water... Man i would be fishinnnnnnn.. You are such a great editor Ruth. Keep up the great video's you 2 Love Birds and Thank So much for sharing....
There are a few boat builders that document all their systems, how they work, what the valves do, wiring schematics. The modern day boats get quite complex with all the systems on them. Of course the person who builds the boat, installs the systems doesn't need a book, but as time goes on it's fairly easy to forget how they're put together, and a new person trying to come up to speed in order to do repairs and do them quickly will struggle. It's good to create good documentation and keep it in a binder on the boat somewhere safe and dry. Included in the book should be a good maintenance schedule and place to record what's been done as well as a place to make special notes. It's freeing to the mind to create that rather than trying to remember everything that should be lubed, changed, whatever and on what time basis.
Wow...a new era. Happiness is palpable!!! Love on ya. Liv xx
Quote of the video, "I've only seen pictures of radar!" Heheh.🤣
Great new intro. I watched it twice. Looking good girl. Sometimes, however, I miss seeing you in boots with a jig saw in your hand and sawdust in your hair…. Yea yea Garret is ok too. Thanks for taking us along….
Definitely the coolest sailboat on KZread.

Another compliment on the new intro. Very nice.y
...to a sailing channel. Cheers!
Geez, Garrett, it’s not level! I’ll never get it out of my mind! Lol. Looks great
You are Living the Dream Guys!
I've been following your build since episode #1, seeing you struggle, the ups and the downs, and now seeing your smiles as you enjoy the results of your efforts. Ruthie, you are just gorgeous when you smile, and Garrett's happiness just flows out. Way to go, you two!
I’ve been following for years, fellow gaffer. Wonderful seeing you guys afloat and enjoying cruising again. Impressed by the t total part, wish I could. We own a Bristol Pilot Cutter from 1899, let’s do a boat swap for a few months, come sail uk waters

Sweet…👍🌮
Garrett, look to get a mizzenmast staysail! ¾ oz. Nylon. You can fly it with that spinnaker and it won’t interfere with it. They really wor.
Sun therapy alright!! Paradise. 💯💯💯❤️
I just love that bomb pop. What a great day.
Can I suggest, when running downwind, sheet the main on the opposite side to which the mizzen is sheeted. Thus the wind which exhausts from the mizzen is directed into the main. The same principal can also be applied to the staysail and jib. Another good trick is to secure the luff of the staysail to one of the shrouds and sheet it to the opposite side, thus effectively setting it as a square sail.
What I wouldn't give for a drone shot of Redaviva under full sail there!
What a beautiful day, stress free and no hurry. I am sure the CEO of sports illustrated is scolding his talent scouts, they let Ruthie slip through their grasp. I physically sighed when the shower curtain was zipped up 😊 Spinnaker was a good addition to the sailing wardrobe.
Euw…An Electronic/Electric Episode👍 Also a “Warm Shower” System…Ya Folks are really “Pimping Out” REDIVIVA😜 Continue to Stay Safe and Enjoy😎
New video camera? Beautiful clarity in this episode.. also really like the new intro…and I like the tip on freezing the deck seal…of course, already did mine… but next time, for sure..
Great episode! Your production value and content just keeps getting better. I love the new opening credits, the electronics tutorial, and the sailing lessons, both sailing off anchor and handling sails was very interesting and engaging. Great job both of you! Thanks
22:19 for this kiddo...c'mon Ruthie...more please...we're missing seeing "more" of you !
👍…diggin' the new intro.
You two always make for a wonderful morning and put a smile on my face
They used to tune old radar waveguides by soaking a 2x4 in salt water and into the wave guit then flipping the switch on. The salt water would absorb the energy so the system UP to but not including the radome can be tested. You test the radome / antenna by frying birds on the runway.
Garrett, love the relaxing decision that the radar computer didn't need to be level! Somehow your videos make me feel as though I'm aboard. Fair winds.

Nice to see you folks learng to sail your new boat!
7 years of work for more than 7 years of blessings. Good deal. All the best to both of you!
My OCD side has been waiting for you to connect that radar dome! Every scene where it was in the background would drive me nuts to see it just sittig there, not connected to the display. Someday it will prove it's worth...especially good to compare radar with AIS and chartplotter data. Bravo!
Love the new intro......... Well Done
since you got glasses we can see you much better :) really fun watching you guys !
Sail off the anchor, radar connected, engine off, flying the spinnaker, no where in a hurry. Rewards for 7 yrs hard toiling.
Dreamtime sailing
New intro. Nice.
Sweet! The Salt & Tar crew with Garett sporting a Delos snap back.
Drifting under a multi coloured balloon sail is one of lifes little pleasures........those that crank the engine when boat speed falls under 4 knots really miss the point.
I am in awe of you both guys xx
Oooh! New intro!! ❤❤
Now that you have radar, you should think about installing a klinger, and then a mulcahy. 😆 #yesimold
What a life. Worked hard for it, now enjoying it. The fruits of your labour are on those moments when you relax, smell the oiled crafted wood in the sun & hear the sails in the gentle breeze. You get one shot at this life. Nothing more needs to be said.
Wow! I got relaxed just watching you enjoying the light sail. That's what it's all about!
Radar has to put out some Rf Energy to work. The RF Energy is blocked by it's height and a metal shelf below the emitter. It all works in the GHz band and is very low power output. So you're safe.
Outstanding….love your work…..very chill 👏🏻👍🙏
Sooooo relaxing ...
Not sure envy is a strong enough word. Glad you are enjoying the benefits of all your hard work.
"you're comin' too" = "Salt&Tar"
Love it when Garrett goes into sail tech mode, clearly knows his stuff.
Speaker to the cables that are left long that people say could be a problem.... It is possible to have a very small power loss BUT with the wires being coiled they create a CHOKE which helps reduce RFI, Radio Frequency Interference, which would be static in your radio communication, and interference to anything wireless. So it is a win, win having long, coiled wires in the long term.
you guys have built one hell of a sail boat. congrats and you deserve to have fun
I ve been watching a long time…….. happy for you guys.

I can see the stress from the build process finally starting to wear off. Good. It makes me happy. :)
Yay! Work days🙂
Excellent video this week Garrett and Ruth, your narration of what and why you did what you did it really hit home with me, you used terms that where easy to understand as well… Great job…. John….
Liven the life what a way
But, but... the radar thingy isn't level. OMG! Holy mackerel!
THAT SMILE !! MEANS SHE IS IMPRESSED WIYH YOU MATE/ CAPTN @ WOY WOY SYD AUST
can I suggest to turn that box (at 8.15 minutes)up the other way to protect the connections from any moisture. I know I am not a Patreon so this may be ages ago.
Great video, thanks for sharing. Happy voyage!
You are correct, there is little effect on the transmission or reception but your coils should be at least 12” in diameter or larger for all parts of the coil. Smaller diameter coils could potentially damage the cable internally by either stretching the inner shield too much or forcing the shield wires through the insulation until it makes contact with the center wire, although this second is very unlikely with high quality cabling.
The boat looks fantastic when sitting in the water at anchor
Coiled cables form an RF Choke which is not a bad thing. I have one for my Ham Radio and there is no degration of signal. Works just fine.
I prudent sailor puts the engine on warmers it up and even puts it in gear ticking over then casts of sail or not, I used to sail of and on to my mooring boy but in a flukey wind or a tight spot there's no harm in having the iron sail ready, your boat is looking good .
Outstanding, a little Spin' action to keep you pointed in the right direction, got no timeline, finally one with your boat, you can almost just speak to Red and she will do your bidding -- thank you for living the dream for all of us... (Oh, yes, thanks for finally getting radar online, was driving me crazy)
at VHF frequncies your service loops are fine, depending upon cable type. Really there is no issue. You can cut 'em short, but you can't cut 'em long. I'm an RF engineer retired with an extra class amateur radio license and my bareboat captain rating. It doesn't make me a genius but I can find my way around the pisspot, so to speak.
Are we nobodies? Nobody is going to see it :) Great Vid.
So relaxing
beautiful video thanks !!!!!
Day by day. Stand in the light.
holy ship, she's functionin' proper!
Your knowledge and skill with the electrical system is my sole vice of envy. I consider what goes on in the electrical panel to be magic, and you sir are a wonderful magician. Fair winds and God speed.

That is an impressive boat
That's crazy it's been a year since you've been in Oceanside. I used to live in Oceanside... Oceanside Carlsbad Vista is it beautiful place
I’m sorry not to comment often, but I love your work and play! You are both amazing and wonderful examples of a couple working together to create their dreams! Fair winds and following seas!!❤🎉
Remember to use your radar when you don't need to to build your confidence in the tech. You can see it does it correlate with the radar?
I love seeing you kicked back enjoying yourself.❤
Thanks for the wisdom drop Garret! “Isn’t it good to finally have enough clarity to realize the things that truly give us joy in life!” Kudos to you both for the hard work and achievements! Thanks for the inspiration!
You worked for it, You deserve it, and now you have it. Way to go you guys!
Cheers!
Well done
Thank You
Love it
I love your new intro!!
Absolutely loving the chilled pace of this video. It's a welcome relief to all the frenetic, jump-cutty, in-your-face videos from everywhere else.

Love the fact youve gone from a boat building channel to a sailing channel where the rewards at the end of the day are in the true spirits of joy and happiness sometimes hard fought for without the spirits many other sailors and the general public thinks necessary.. Each to their own and i for one am happy you two took the path you are on... similar to mine without a boat.. 😊
In really appreciate the passion you both have for sailing and the education of building "Young Red", you went through. I for one could not for the life of me put down a fishing rod if I was there. I'd need to learn the difference between sea and course fishing though...beautiful life
Wow. Only thing missing was a fishing poll out. Relax enjoy and both of you endless smiles.
I enjoy your videos I think more than any other I follow. If I may, I'd like to comment on your statement regarding the radar position. I've done a good bit of research on this exact issue. I think you're right that it's not a giant danger. However it still deserves some respect. There is always propagation of electromagnetic energy from a radar system. That's how it works. It is certainly true that modern radars are way safer than even just a few years ago. Nevertheless, effort should be made to stay out of the direct line of transmission. As an example, if the beam is 25 degrees in vertically height then 12.5 degrees is aimed below the center point. While you may not rapidly shrivel up if briefly within that, effort should be made to limit your direct exposure. To assure that, the beam does need to be above your heads.
Another wonderful video of you two following your dreams! Well done Fair winds ⛵️
It doesn't get much better than this. Ruth does some editing, while Garret fix up the new and improved radar. Then set the sail and kick back. Just awesome.
