Hello , great video but dont those salt meters need to be calibrated with a $ 15.00 bottle of calibrating water ? how do know when it needs to be calibrated Thank you .

Not this one … come pre calibrated. I have salt strips I use as a redundant check once or twice a year just to be sure.

How do you know what salt level your pool should be? You said you were shooting for 3600 but I’ve heard 3200 is a good target and anywhere between 2700-3400, is within normal range. So I’m just wondering where you got 3600 from or if there’s come kind of chart.

Depends on your chlorine generator. Mines says it right on it, but if it doesn’t just google the model and salt PPm and you’ll find it. Then I’d write it on your chlorine generator ….

@@FamilyDIYtv thanks man, didn’t even think about that. I just bought our house back in September, and it has a salt pool, and I’ve watched soooo many KZread videos to try to get in top of this thing, and none of them say exactly where their numbers are coming from. The salt generator, of course, total V-8 moment.

Nothing to compare to, and too many at different price points, so I have to question the accuracy of this/these devices.

Have acquired a house with a salt water pool. It is an irregularly shaped pool and I do not know how many gallons it holds. Is there a way I can compute that? Thanks for the great video. My reading for my pool is currently 2600 and the indicator is flashing. Know I need to add salt:)

Hmmm there’s some online calculators out there that can help. Do you know who built the pool ? Might be able to contact them and get model name … ect…

@@margaretdombkoski4780 this may not be the perfect answer but if you take an accurate reading then add one bag of salt and recheck after a full day you should know how much one bag raised the salinity. Should be easy math once you know how one bag affects your pool. Not a fast method but that’s what I would try :)

I’m really having a hard time understanding the amount of salt to pour in. So once I place my electronic device in the pool to see what my readings is, then how do I determine the amount of bags to pour in? Is there a way that you can draw this mathematical equation on a board or something? This is the part where I get confuse.

I agree - it’s a pain. On the back of the bag it gives you the math. I’d recommend also error on the side of too little. Then check a day later, can ask ways add more. But the math is on the back of the bag.

For each bag of salt you put in your pool it will raise the number by around 500….so if you have a reading of 2600 and you want it at 3600 you would add 2 bags😊

Clorox pool salt is pure crap with impurities in it. All you need is solar naturals salt. 100% Salt, no impurities.
