    Jim Caponzi Well Utah has one of the fastest growing economies in the nation due to their business friendly policies and huge investments in technology. Also Salt Lake City is minority Morman which is why it’s actually becoming a very popular destination for people trying to escape the shithole that is California.

    Kind of amusing how that temple just stands there, as if it were just another office building, surrounded by bigger office buildings. You'd think there would be a park around it, or something, or that there are restrictions on what kinds of buildings are allowed around it. In Cologne Germany, where they have one of the world's largest cathedrals, which took like 600 years to build, or something crazy like that, they have a law that no building in the city is allowed to be taller or obstruct the view on the cathedral. And Germany is a far less religious place than Salt Lake City, or the USA as a whole, for that matter. They just have that law for cultural and aesthetic reasons, the same way Paris has zoning laws to protect the view on the Eifel Tower. One thing I'm personally interested in is the handicapped parking situation in the USA. I'm handicapped too, not enough though to get a handicapped parking permit where I live. They are a bit... stingy, I guess you could say, here. You basically need to be needing a wheelchair or at least missing a foot to get the permit and with the advances in prosthetic technology, I'm not even sure that is still enough. Even people who need crutches or walking aids often are denied. I just have severely underdeveloped tendons, ligaments and muscles in my hands and feet. It is a birth defect. They are of normal size, luckily, but when it comes to the "inner workings", I'm basically walking around on a little child's feet, sprain my ankles all the time and it just is painful to walk longer distances or stand longer than half an hour or so. I can walk though. Pain isn't reason enough to get a permit. Not even complaining. They need to draw the line somewhere. But that is why I'm curious about how this is handled in the States. I assume you also need a special permit. What are the requirements? Do only people who have problems walking get the permit, or will any kind of handicap do?

  • @hoosiertim

    @hoosiertim

    5 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for watching. As for the parking permit, here in the USA, or Indiana anyway, all you need to do is take a doctor's recommendation to your local license branch to get one. I can walk also, but only very short distances before the pain becomes intense.

    The grounds around the Temple are a park like setting, in addition, there is a large park like space surrounding the large reflecting pool. Also, plenty of handicapped parking as well as a free lite rail system in the downtown area. SLC is a beautiful, clean city. Utah as a whole is a very beautiful state with diverse scenery.
