And to think that 2 years after I was born in Park City, Utah, my dad taking me to the games and me watching these guys fly down the track, now here I am, racing on the same track they once did, amazing

I was in 2nd grade when the Olympics came to my hometown of Salt Lake City. I lived right down the street from where they built the Olympic oval in Kearns. We got pulled out of school to watch the torch come up 5400 south right under the bridge and to the oval. I didn't get to go to any of the events because my family was broke, but I'm glad i got to see the torch come through my little ghetto hometown, and was old enough to remember it. Still strange for me to think that they chose to build the oval in Kearns of all places. BTW SLC can't get over the fact that the Olympics were here 15 years ago. We STILL have signs and monuments to it all over the place.

Hate At Chee I was in 3rd grade when they came to SLC and they walked down the street of my childhood home and I got to see the torch as they marched downtown.

I was very little when this happened. I don't remember it because I was so little... it's taken me a while to finally decide to look up the opening ceremony of the 2002 olympic games and see what it was about. I have to say I find myself pathetic for not looking it up earlier... I live literally 1 hour within all of the places the events happened in. I've been up to the bobsled ramps in Park City, and to the Ice Skating oval located in the valley. We even still have the entrance and some decorations from the olympics, along with the modifications that were made, at Rice-Eccles stadium. It's awesome to see it there. And often, before a winter olympics you can find local athletes training at all the past olympic sites for the games... I guess I didn't look this up sooner because I'd heard a lot about how it went and such, but now seeing the videos of the opening ceremony is amazing

Same. I was 1 when this happened but my mom worked as the head of customer service at the gateway and she says the city was the busiest she had ever seen it. My entire family except me went to at least 1 event and we have the tickets frames and my aunt and uncles house. I live 20 minutes away from Rice Eccles Stadium and I've been to that stadium a hundred times

Does anyone know what the music is at 3:00? The First Nation music combined with the full orchestra is so beautiful. I'd love to know if I can listen to more like this or if this was composed specifically for the ceremony. Thanks!
