I've been, for the longest time, so mystified by on2. You literally made it brain dead simple to understand while others make it WAAAAYYYYY more complicated than it has any right to be. Literally, JUST FIND THE 2nd and 6th BEAT AND USE THOSE INSTEAD OF THE 1st and 7th!!!!! Thank you so much.

I started a latin music class last year and practiced a lot but didnt get very far, I used to cry for an hour before class. It was humiliating and I got yelled at to no avail. Then I got segregated and couldnt go to the "advanced part of class" or play the instrument that I had practiced all summer. I watched all this in two days and finally gained some confidence. THANK YOU

very helpful, thank you Dance Dojo for such educational and really training videos! I'm really enjoying them and trying by myself, even for this 5-min practice - this is something I want to follow with I, myself, originally trained to Transition from On1 to On2 by Supermario, when he came to Ukraine, love when he said - you only need hell a lot of training and counting if you really want to switch to On2 from On1

I totally agree with Mario, it's pure repetition to re-train your brain. Once you do it, you can dance on both timings. Thanks for the love and keep enjoying dance! -Robin

this Find The Beat playlist playlist is awesome. I just spent my whole sunday ripping through it. I feel connected with music on a whole 'nother level. I started weekly salsa classes last week. I bombed my first class lol. I think Ima surprise the instructor with my newfound musicality.

I dance mainly On1 and quite good in finding the On1 timing. Now trying to learn On2 and don't know why it seems so challenging. It does not help too that with On2 all the footsteps are done from the ladies point of view. I think it will be easier to learn On2 as a lead if the footwork were done from the lead's point of view like On1 salsa.

Do you have a video that you show how to count when a salsa song changes count in the same song? Hopefully that makes sense. I struggle when salsa dancing falling back in time when it changes on me

Example Gilbertito Santa Rosa song” qué manera de quererte” or Mark Anthony song “El Cantante” It’s such a dynamic song how do you keep track of the different counts when dancing

I know exactly what you mean Mariana. Sometimes the musicians decide to simply play a 4 beat phrase and then they start a new phrase on the 1, instead of playing an 8 beat phrase we're all used to. The result is the 1 and the 5 get switched around and people are confused. When this happens you don't change how you count music, you just have to realize when the timing switches so you can adjust your dancing. In that sense there's nothing to teach you in terms of counting, the counting is the same. it's up to you to simply be aware of the timing switch, find the 1 again and adjust your steps. I made this video on how to adjust your steps when you realize the timing has changed: kzread.info/dash/bejne/poqmy9SahrqWoLQ.html&ab_channel=DanceDojo. - did that make sense? -robin

If you can follow the clave you will notice that those songs keep a pretty consistent count. Sometimes there is some silence by the pulse is there.

Man your passion is great however you need to unlock your hips and raise your feet when you dance. The upper body movement should be a consequence of correct hip movement and not a discoordinated move. Just have it in mind your videos are nice

When dancing solo, like teaching a class, the convention is to step on the follow's timing, forward on the 2. It doesn't mean you can't switch it around. There's no rules, BUT this is the most common way you'll see it in any class you go to. -robin
