Dr. Omar Suleiman is one of the greatest storytellers of our time MA. I have heard Salman Farsi's (RA) story a bazillion times before, but after listening to this episode, my heart was aching. May Allah grant us the taufeeq to seek the truth and live accordingly. May Allah's blessings be upon Prophet Muhammad (S), Salman Farsi (RA), and all his ummah.

True that, I’m a Sunni and I’m shocked that the relationship between Hazret Ali (RA) and Salman (RA) was not discussed in this lecture. It feels so sad how we Sunni hide the virtues of Hazret Ali (RA) and only talk about Hazret Omar, Abubakr and Osman (RA).

Dr Omar, May Allah bless you and guide us. Could you please talk to us about the Religion (Druze) where the community follow Salman Alfarsi. I've been recently in touch with some of them in the US and couldn't know how this religion is built.

The reasons most islamic practice now adays are mainly not quranic, but thing of persian, christian and jews.... because a new muslims at that time, ummayad and abbasid era wrote so much for us to follow.... because we rely so much on their books.... and we forget that the real source of knowledge is from the quran.... we dont realized that what we are hearing today were from the bools of those mainly two era..... the real islam were from the era of the messenger but those era was nothing left only the quran after they all burn off.... its realy hard to believe what we have today as muslims are witten afterr 300 years after the prophet.... including what is being said in this video.

At about 47:00 minutes, when Salman Al Farsi (ra) questions Omar Ibn Khattab (ra) about him taking two pieces of cloth, do you think it was because he, Salman al Farsi (ra), might have known somehow that others were thinking this and weren't asking Omar (ra) because he was Khalifa and felt they couldn't question him because of his rank and status? Maybe Salman (ra) was clearing Omar's (ra) name (to make clear to people that Omar (ra) would never take more than his share and even if that) because some people might have had this suspicion and didn't have the courage to ask?

Allahu Akbar! what a fascinating story. As an adult, I didn't know most of the details in this story. Is there a way this can be made into a series for children to watch? my kids and I just watched the story of Bilal Ibn Rabah (may Allah be please with him). They enjoyed it so much and have kept rewatching it over and over again. It would be nice if the stories of all The Firsts can be made into a children's series.

My brother I think u got it wrong.The prophet (s.a.w) never sent Abu sufyan to the Roman Empire Heraclius because Abu sufyan wasn’t a believer by then.The ambassador of the prophet (s.a.w) sent to the Roman Emperor was Dihya ibn Khalifah but Abu sufyan happened to be there on a trade deal from hijjaz .Heraclius asked if anyone present apart from the Ambassador knows mohamed (s.a.w) and that’s when Abu sufyan came forth and a conversation happened between Abu sufyan and Heraclius .

What would you do when your parents are prejudices against other races regarding marriage? What about the preach the Quran emphasizes when it comes to obeying parents?

How old was he exactly when he died? You mention in his eighties. But google says 250 or 350. I just want to clarify that please

Born 568 ce in ispahan Died 652-653 ce in madain present day Bagdad (ctesiphon) So Salman( ra) lived approximately 85 years,,,,some unauthentic hadiths says that he lived more than 300 years but these hadiths are not authentic nor reliable
