Salina Turda, Romania: Incredible Transformation of A Salt Mine

Salina Turda is a truly amazing place to visit. I especially like the futuristic design which transformed this once abandoned salt mine into a cool place.
“It is the underground formation that people created in a special natural environment, in the depths of Transylvania, digging into the salt deposited after the evaporation of the sea that covered the entire region millions of years ago”.

Going to Salina Turda by public transportation was a little bit more complicated than we thought. Bolt and Uber weren’t readily available when we were there. The nearest train station stop is in Câmpia Turzii. You can take ALIS Bus service. At Câmpia Turzii train station, take ALIS bus 20, then transfer to Turda bus 17 which will take you directly to the salt mine. It’s doable, but it will be more convenient by driving or joining a tour from Cluj, Brasov, Sighișoara , or even Bucharest. Going there by self doesn’t really save much money, but it will give you more freedom wandering around. We also enjoyed the boating in the salt lake.
