This is the first time I have got to see Val's personality. When I have seen her talk previously she has seemed quite reserved and almost standoffish. She has never seemed very warm or chatty. However, here she really opens up and I love her! She seems quite naughty, with a dirty sense of humour and does not seem precious at all. Isn't it strange the opinions we form about people without knowing them at all? She was a great interviewee. Looking forward to the next In The Bathroom as always.

Exhilarating ! I got so excited when you moved locations to really delve into Val Garland's make up bag ! Thanks for such a great series Sali. (Her cheeky tip about the dual purpose of Clarins blue orchid oil was both hilarious and inspiring !).

I'm the only person I know in my day to day life that loves makeup. To be honest I have become embarrassed about loving it because I am the only person I know that loves it. This video made me so happy, like I wasn't alone in what I enjoy. It sounds stupid, but this video made me feel like I was talking (or listening) to a girlfriend about beauty and beauty bits. It was a little bit of heaven for me, so thank you

This video is wonderful. I love that Val has so much mascara! It made me feel awesome. I love mascara as well and have about six of them. She at least has an excuse though since she is a famous make-up artist but me, I don't care I just love it.

salihughesbeauty So many thought provoking moments during this piece. What really jumped out at me was the discussion on social media . It really hit me how so much has happened in eight years and how every sphere has been affected. It's mind boggling when one tries to unerstand what an evolutionary leap we've taken in communication. I totally empathise with Val's reaction to being filmed during her process. It's a tricky one, how much do you keep private and how much do you showacase in order to stay in the game? Still gutted to not be attending these upcoming classes-trying to stay mature about it! :) :) :)

I get along fabulously with angled liner brush. My first and only is an elf, and I got it right the first time. I silently thank elf every single time I use it.

Great interview, loved seeing and hearing what skincare and make up val personally used. Thank goodness you listed the products she mentioned, because a lot of the time you both knew the products but didn't mention either the brand or type of product, which was frustrating to the viewer who aren't familiar with cult brands or have a vast knowledge of every product and what they're are used for in the beauty world.

Hm. As for Yonka Paris...I think they are available over here in London. Near Harrods there's a new cosmetic standalone store next to a large Aromatherapy associates boutique. Discovered this store by accident after walking from Imperial. Also, as for salons, I believe the Miles hotel Kensington carries the brand too. They both carries Yonka the last time I saw them ( the store carried them at least 3 months ago).

Sali I just love your In The Bathroom series! It's so lovely hearing how these top makeup artists started their careers. I think their experience is absolutely priceless and it's so insightful and interesting to get an up close and personal peek into their lives and the products they use for themselves. In our youth obsessed culture where it tends to be all about the new, young, "It Girl", it's actually refreshing to hear from these wonderfully hardworking women whose careers are legendary. Also, thank you for adding the list of products.

I wish you could make a list of the the great stuff.
