I'm from those areas. and I wanted to suggest to those who want to visit these areas, and do not want to be surrounded by many people to visit in May or September. Salento is not well known by foreigners but by Italians yes, so in the summer many people come on vacation (Sorry for my english). I love my land, beautiful video!! Ciaoooo

So what is a true hidden gem in southern Italy?
The point is: Italy is the most fantastic tourist destination. The reason is that you can find everything there. Crystal water beaches in the south, wonderful mountains in the north, hills in the center, arts, history, tradition and everywhere fantastic food !!!! Each place has its own local food, completely different if you just move 50 kms.....and I agree with you....avoid the crowded destination like Venezia, Firenze, Roma.....ok...visit them, but take your time to travel out of them and find the hidden gems that are scattered all around.

Bingo. I've been to Italy twice, and yes, I've been to Venice and stayed in Milan, but our stays have been in Padova, Bologna, La Spezia, Torino, Ravenna, Parma, Mantova and Cortina. Italians know these places, but international tourists, not so much.

As a Salentinian, thank you. This video is beautiful. I'd suggest to come in May or September, even in October the sea is still warm. But not during the "high season" (June to August) because you'll find it jammed with tourists, beaches full of people and long queue of cars.

I live in Salento and I am proud of my land💖
What I love about you two is that your keeping it real, not putting on airs (first class all the way, give me a break) Hope you continue to grow.
Salento is one of the most touristy areas of Italy... Although it is mainly popular among Italians. I've spent there 2 summers, years ago. It was simply packed with tourists, but since I lived with locals, we were able to avoid the crowds. Besides, I worked in a restaurant specialised in Salento's cuisine, and those Pasticciotti ruined my health 😅
Loved the video! We live in London but my partner is from Salento and we go there every year to visit family and friends. What you have shown us is so genuine and we are glad that you introduced Salento to the world!

I love Italy and this will be my next destination, thanks so much for sharing this gem. I think once the sky is open, go to Israel and discover all the beauty of my homeland that I miss so much ( I live in France ) there are tones of hidden gems even in that tiny country, and the food ..... superb for both carnivores and vegetarians
Em’s giggles and both your sense of humor made this video fun to watch on top of the gorgeous scenery. Definitely my next stop after the pandemic
Being in Lecce would make me so emotional. Hard to explain why but I think I would be overwhelmed by the beauty!

I've been to Lecce twice, both in August during their Sant'Oronzo celebration. Fantastic! On the main plaza is a modern raised stage with modern acts, while at the corner of the plaza is a sunken Roman amphitheater where the more traditional music is performed. At sunset the entire old core of the town, built from a soft creamy limestone, is hit by the light and makes the buildings look like they are carved from butter. Totally surreal. Lovely Lecce. See you next August.

I was born in Puglia, and my birthday is Oronzo
Iam a greeeeat fan from Puglia!!!!!!!! All the little towns, the villages, the secret and lonely beaches. I know Italia and i love all, but Puglia has a special charme!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have no idea why you two have not been snatched by any of the TV channels. You do your show, professionally and better than I have seen on television. Keep it going, great informative, and often humorous and certainly a pleasure watching you both. 👍
It's true that Puglia has been a very popular destination for Italian tourists from the north for a long time now, but in recent years the secret is out and more foreigners are going there too. The Salento (southern part of Puglia) is now getting pretty well known, so next time you go I'd recommend you try the northern part of Puglia which is still more known to Italians and less to foreigners. The Gargano promontory in the north of Puglia is strewn with beautiful towns, gorgeous Adriatic coast beaches, and even less mass tourism. The food is also fantastic, for example you should definitely visit a trabucco. They are old wooden structures built on the edge of a cliff that used to be used for fishing, they look like old sail boats with big wooden masts hanging out over the sea where they lower nets down. Many were abandoned but now have been repurposed into amazing local seafood restaurants where they serve incredible food from whatever they catch, and have great outdoor seating to enjoy the views with an aperitivo. Just like all of the south, the food is remarkably inexpensive especially given you are being served the best quality seafood literally caught right there, and local produce from the surrounding farms. In a big city elsewhere in Europe you would pay ten times the price for food this good. I would recommend the Trabucco da Mimì which is near the town of Peschici, also very much worth visiting.

As an italian, i go every year in Puglia, Calabria and Campania. I really advice u to go in Tropea ( Calabria region), Ostuni (Puglia region), and Naples ( Campania region). The last one is really undervalued, but is full of history.
L'Italia è bella tutta, ma la nostra Puglia, oltre che per i paesaggi, è qualcosa di speciale 😍

Chiagnene e fottene come dicono a Napoli.

Gorgeous scenery and it's great you're showing more of Italy than just the regular tourist trail that English speaking tourists do. The pastry pasticciotto is pronounced 'pas-CHOT-to' lots of swallowed consonants and a few blended vowels!
I am from puglia and..where to start..salento it's well known from italians indeed it's over crowded from june to the end of august, "summer break holidays" it is not very popular among tourists from abroad at least not until now ! also those place that you guys visited are just few that the most famous spots in salento and those beaches were yes beautiful but there are many other that are far better such as punta prosciutto beach, torre lapillo, punta della suina...those are located on the south part of the region not far away from were you've been !so happy to see that you liked it so much and I believe that in the years to come will be discovered also by other tourists from overseas as loads of travel agency and travel websites such as lonely planet and new york times suggested those places as the new eldorado for beach holiday makers.
Great video guys .
