Saladin, knowing that the battle had a HUGE chance of lasting longer than one day (due to the number of soldiers), said that such a risk was pointless and he had to withdraw, which is what Baldwin "suggested" to him. The movie doesn't say it directly, but Bladwin ridiculed Saladin terribly in this battle. This is why Baldwin was and should still be considered such a good strategist. The only guy who noticed this. Words are so important and we can see that here. These words were not submissive and not offensive and not disrespectful. It was acknowledged that Salahuddin's army is powerful but also Baldiwin's army will fight until death. Renauld crossed the boundaries and still Salahuddin looked at the bigger picture and opted for peace. Does today the world wants Peace..? If it really wanted, Palestine and Israel conflict would be resolved in minutes. .

King baldwin was dieing of leprosy, thats why Saladin said, i will send my physicians to you. They generally cared about and respected each other and once King baldwin died it all went to hell. Back then Muslims and Christians could live in peace despite the many brutal wars, these two managed to keep peace for awhile and both were actually very scientific men while also being men of faith. I believe after Jerusalem fell he sent the spear of destiny to the pope rather than to destroy it like many Muslim leaders would have.

Is Islam that don’t respect Christianity… Islamic ppl are the ones who just bombed a church in Nigeria? It’s Islamic ppl the ones that terrorize and persecute Christians, millions of Christian’s while Christian let them come in into Christian territories and now they causing chairs cringes rapes terrorism, we are 2 differently cultures everyday it’s more evident that multiculturalism is a failure.. so if they don’t adapt and start behaving decently in the west.. The Crusades are somewhat misrepresented because whilst they were brutal they were not unusual and not worse than the jihads and forced slavery the Muslims did in Spain and the Eastern Byzantine Empire.

@@coconuttree5045 christianity is good but the crusades were most of the time the worst thing because of the excessive violence ,the muslims atleast gave the choice for captured soldiers to either convert or be sold into slavery (for soldiers) and civilians had to pay (the jizya tax about 5 percent if i remember) if they wanted to stay in their land and keep their faith(but if war broke out those civilians were protected from the invaders and werent conscripted in the army as an exchange) and those that were in muslim controled lands that wer acquired through means other than war werent asked to do either. The crusaders were vicious ,(yeah sometimes they had good leaders but for the majority the crusaders just mauled everyone.)

@@omareloujaji6064 Yea I mean I can't deny they were highly vicious and contradicted Christianity but this was hardly abnormal for the time I'd say I suppose I might be wrong to say there were as vicious as the Jihads as they were likely more vicious but certainly, I'd say they were not unprovoked and the Muslims were also brutal in terms of treatment of Christians, pilgrims or residents, this, however, does not justify the crusader brutality. So both sides definitely have blood on their hands.

Salahudin was a hero and one of the most respected military men in history because he truly follows Islam and it’s principles of peace and love for humanity

It's beautiful when enemies can show respect towards one another

One enemy believed that another will do the justic upon what he promised. That shows the massive respect to each other.

You can't be a good Christian or a muslim if you simply aren't honourable. These were two honourable men. May Allah give peace to them and raise them in ranks. Clearly they both knew they were fighting for something much bigger than themselves.

Dont get me wrong I love it to but saying it even reasonably historically accurate is a total joke. The only thing that is accurate is that the crusade happend. Everything else is in inaccurate. Still love it though. Watch "history buffs" video on it, it's great!

Baldwin is such a chad, he was only 16 and had leprosy, but it didn’t stop him from being a courageous and an honorable warrior king.

One of my favorite parts of the film is when Saladin picks up the cross on the floor with respect and I’m not even a religious person.

Best scene is when Saladin tells balian that Jerusalem is nothing but everything. That and the fights. Ridley Scott’s medieval fights are always great really capturing the brutality of the era.
