If you can rick playing TAA rwb so could you Palmer. I think Palmer and Saka would play well together on that wing. Drop Foden and play Bowen on the left

Do please give us exactly what experience you have to NOT play the only English defender to be nominated (NOT once, but twice) in the last decade for the Ballon D'or. This I have to see. Palmer is NOT half the player Trent is. He IS the only game winner England have in the way that HE only can unlock along with Bellingham, any defence. You see Trent is THE best person to complete passes and crosses, of the ball from anywhere on the pitch in the world currently, so Kane, and eveyrone else should be able to get on his crosses better then any defender. Simple logic really.

Whilst I agree wholeheartedly, a Trippier at right back is much much better than a Trippier at left back, it's progress, but we'd be silly to expect Gareth to drop his whole defensively boring approach.

Bellingham and Foden both want to play #10, well there isn't 2 #10 positions, so pick who you think is better and get a winger on the left. Players are having a shocker, bench them for the next game and play someone else. It isn't that difficult

Trent plays in a club team that actually plays attacking football, look at the options he has in front of him for Liverpool, it would work for England too of kane didn't drop so deep and the team actually played attacking football. Southgate is spectacular at wasting tallent with England and Aren't is the best example of this

One thing that worries me more than Southgate not changing the formation is Southgate changing the formation. A shrewd manager does this and it is called tactics; with Southgate doing it it is called an experiment.

I just saw the 2 best teams go up against eachother yesterday in Spain & Germany. Neither team changed their shape to counter the other team. And here we are with the best squad on players in the tournament changing our complete Shape & going even more defensive to counteract…. Wait for it….. The Mighty Switzerland!💀 Let’s be real now. Who the hell in that Switzerland team would even start for us?? Maybe Xhaka at Best if you’re being lenient. But that’s it.

Trippier isn't washed, just playing on the wrong side for the best of the team. He's not as good as Trent offensively, but he's better defensively. In a back 3 i'd choose Trent though

@@jamesthorner2555 The entire point of 5 at the back with wingbacks is to have 2 ATTACKING wingbacks. With Walker next to Trent and Rice in front, Trent shouldn't even be needed to defend (although defensively Trent had better stats than Walker & Tripper anyway this season). But let's regurgitate what the British press spouts every week. Trent would get in any team Spain, France, Italy, Brazil it's a joke he isn't utilised. Same with Palmer.

Because Southgate doesn’t have a clue and will opt for the less favourable choices when it comes to making player selections for England. If England are somehow to end up unsuccessful with the result, it may be down to player performance but it’s more than likely going to be down to Southgate’s ineptitude….

Saka and Trent... That's attacking. Trippier and Saka, that's being more defensive for a team that has struggled to create chances. With 3 at the back, and a defensive midfielder, we don't need more defensive... We need to be attacking, because that's where we have struggled I can't wait for him to leave, the amount of times he just picks his favourites, overly cautious... Overly pragmatic... It's painful to watch

Switzerland when they get possession have 2 Wingers who will charge down the wings. So either our Wing Backs have to defend too much or our Centre Backs cover across and leave the centre exposed. Southgate Ball.

I hope no player will be blamed for not doing well in their new roles at this stage of the tournament. Personally, I think players play better when they can easily anticipate what their playmates will do when in possession of the ball.

With Kane there is no hope. These formations are either 3 4 3 1 or 5 4 3 1 then there either camped defensively or attacking properly but I fear Kane will nullify it and won't be taken off to make it work. Tony or Watkins would suit it better. Will the necessity to squeeze Foden in this team despite him never fitting in win us the tournament or make us fail like he did on all his previous outings with England. Hopefully we make it to the next stage. Hopefully we win it. But we must use our subs

Cant be playing Kane as striker when Bellingham and Foden are the twin 10s. Need someone who will make runs in behind - with kane he wants to drop into the same space as foden and bellingham

I heard that it was a 4 4 2 formation. 4 in goal, 4 stuck in the penalty box. The other 2 are wingers who aren’t allowed to go past the halfway line. The personal change is that the last team has been replaced with another team known as the Clangers. Soup Dragon is to replace Southgate as manager

So, play 2 players out of position for the first time in a quarter final. But likely only 1 actual change in personnel.

Yes we are still in the tournament but don't ask how. How can a coach still be searching how he want's to play his team? The luck wil run out at one point.

I expect a lackluster performance, complete absence of in-game managerial adjustments and elimination - that’s Southgate’s routine in tournaments.

I think it now all comes down to commitment. If the players feel unsure of the formation or where and what they should be doing, they may not give it their all. They have to accept and commit to it all or face going home tonight. Two no.10s may cause chaos, but chaos in the final third is a good thing, so long as there are teammates in and around the box and balls get there. One ball after another into the box, time and again. No more endless passing sideways or back and back again.

Switzerland play with 2 high wide Wingers. Who is marking them? - the Wing Backs playing too deep or the Centre Backs playing too wide? 4-2-3-1 was fine to match up to Swiss.

Saka ain't playing left back, he'll be a wing-back....Saka is left footed....I don't see why it would be a problem for him. We need him to stay high.

Happy with the shape in this team now. Trips was born for the right wing back position

Unless you change some of the players too alongwith the formation, its nothing. Its basically the same thing. In paper it's 3-4-3 or whatever, but during the game it can be anything from 3-5-2, to 3-6-1 to 4-5-1 and back to 5-4-1. This is the last game Southgate will get to be more fearless and experiment. Show some spine.

Hopefully aswell as a formation change there will be a change in tempo and the pointless backwards and sideways passing even when there is space to run in to

Southgate is a fool to play with wingbacks and not play Trent, instead of playing Saka and Treppier, he should stick with 433 and play Gordon and Watkins, drop fodon and Kane.

If this is true that,s a damning endorsement of Southgate. After 8 years he is going radical in a major tourney, your basically saying he,s clueless and by the way i,m agreeing with you.
