You are right, and they are working on getting the original code for this or at least they were some time ago (rockstar redid their code for remasters that's why its worse, but if you have an original code making a remaster is no brainer, from technical side of it at least)

They'll do literally anything but the SR2 patch 💀

Oh it so true, because it seems nether Fishlabs and Volition gave a damn about this version at all. Let me list the problems. 1: Re-Elected now requires you to link your Epic Games account to even play co-op, so no, you can't play the game with Steam alone unlike the original version, both before and after the My Steelport feature was shut down, so you are forced to link your account to the game to play CO-OP. It's Gamespy all over again. 2: Mod support is broken at best, with F13 being the only one making mods for this broken pile of bolts. 3: Saves are broken and can crash the game. to the desktop. 4: It also got released on the Epic Games Store. 5: the Legacy branch on Steam is apparently a lie. 6: They removed borderless windowed mode. 7: Crossplay is a joke. Want to play with Epic players? You need to have a Epic account. Want to play with Steam users only? You still need a Epic account!

Saints Row 2 remastered Volition: Hell no Hipsters Row and SR4 Remastered Volition: This is what the fans need

So many people don't even know that patch is in the works! I keep seeing people saying they wish Saints Row 2 was remastered or remade or whatever, and they don't even know about the patch!!! It would be an immense blow to both the community and the brand for the patch to be not finished, if nothing else than disrespectful to Idolninja who spearheaded the work updating SR2 and unfortunately passed away before its completion. May he rest in peace.

Idolninja put his heart and soul into that patch and did everything he could to make that shitty steam port functional, and this is how they treat his sacrifice?They claimed theyd finish it for him, but they seem to hate the original games so much theyd rather work on dogshit sr4 than actually do something thatll make their community happy.

I don't think it did unfortunately. I thiiink sales met expectations, just perception is what faltered which is ultimately a nothing-burger when they made their money off it. This is more than likely DS trying to get a bit more out of the franchise before the merger with Gearbox

While I would love to see an SR4 remaster, SR2 deserves it and needs it much more. Not only is SR2 just more Saints Row, it's graphics are MUCH more outdated then SR4, like it's not even close. Overall, I would love to see a remaster of SR1, SR2, and SR4. But Volition needs to get their priorities straight and realize if they're gonna remaster one of em, SR2 is the one to do next.

Am guessing it's easier and cheaper to remaster SR4 than it is SR1& 2 since those titles used a MUCH older engine in comparison to the rebuild one they've been using since SR3. Meaning they might have to remake the whole game, but someone could correct me on that.

Volition has no real say on what they can work on, the publisher decides that. Most they can do is convince suits/higher ups that doing something like a SR1/2 remaster would be more lucrative than w/e new release is planned. Part of why Bungie wanted out, they wanted to do something other than Halo but couldn't while under Microsoft's control.

I would actually prefer a saints row 1 port from the x360, just something that would work and revive the multiplayer community

Besides waiting on the Saints Row 2 patch, I really want tools to be able to mod the game a lot more than we can right now. I mean going as far as editing the map, adding new vehicles, npcs, weapons, and whatever else the community may wish to do. I'll keep dreaming, since that's probably a long shot.

@@KoopaTroopa1 We are able to add weapons, but I was leaning towards custom sounds, animations and such. Custom sound mods are not possible whatsoever on SR2 unless "cue points" don't exist in the audio file. (Mostly for custom music) As for adding sounds, that's not possible either from my experience. (It's also the same thing with 3, 4, and GOOH.)

I also hope the console DLC will be included in the patch. There is no reason it can't be, unless they decide to charge money for it despite the game being several years old. :/

It never fails to astonish me how incompetent they're being with this franchise as of late, it's almost like they're doing exactly what the fans don't want.

A remaster of the first saints row would be welcome too, maybe with some improvements from saints row 2, like the better checkpoints etc.

when i saw the post about this on Reddit it really did sting that we keep getting news like this while the sr2 rerelease is still in limbo after so damn long. of course these are basically two completely unrelated things since Volition have little do to with any possible remasters, and the patch is "just" a passion project anyways that apparently relies entirely on the (unpaid!!!) free time of a couple of employees, but jesus christ. the fact that these companies have this perfect, relatively low stakes opportunity to regain community goodwill offered to them on a silver plate, have had it for YEARS, and it still isn't out... no actual resources allocated to it, no budget, no management from what i've heard... it's baffling. i'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that whatever's going on behind the scenes is probably a lot more complicated than we might expect, but i also feel like semi-competent management at any other studio/publisher would've at least milked the patch as a cynical PR opportunity for all its worth rather than staying basically completely silent on it. just weird decisions and priorities all around.

@@DraGanix33 "make a game" what game? i was talking about the sr2 patch, something that's already been worked on for three years now. it's a project that was started by a very devoted Volition employee who basically worked on it until his death bed. it was greenlit by Volition's management and it was voluntarily taken over by some of their other developers after Mike passed away (huge respect to them, whoever they are). it's really disingenuous to water the whole thing down to some kinda "us vs. them" fandom beef about the reboot or whatever. also "fan loyalty" is nonsense. never ever blindly swear fealty to companies, they are not your friends and they don't care about you. i'm saying this as a good little brand loyalist who's bought every game in this series.

Because Volition never wanted to pay money for the sr2 patch. The patch is still only being made for free by the most passionate of employees in their free time. Outsourcing it would mean paying.

It shocks me that there are people that still put good faith in gearbox. The only good things that have come out of gearbox is borderlands and that one half life expansion. The rest has been ranging from trash to mediocre at best.

Why is volition making all the worst decisions

I hope it is an actual remaster like Saints Row: The Third, minus the bugs and crashes. Even though SR2 is my favourite game, and I hate the direction the series has gone after it, SR4 was a really fun game on its own. I do hope we get more news on the SR2 patch. I fear they might abandon it all together.

I kinda would like Sperasoft to handle all the SR remasters? Idk- I know SRTT's was a lil buggy but they do enough to be upgrades enough to be worth buying again, without being the GTA TRYLOGY DEFECTIVE EDITIONS- and keeping the soul and vibes of the original still, too? I would hope that if we do ever get a SR2 remaster or SR2 and SR1 remasters, it'd be done by them with maybe a lil better overwatch by Volition for quality assurance?

Mr Saints I wanna thank you for mentioning the Saints Row 2 patch, it's been so long since it was announced and still no new info. That and I feel there are a fair few people who didn't even know it existed. That said I would honestly suggest you make a separate video about it, a "timeline" even of events that have unfolded since it was announced to not only make more people aware but also hopefully cause enough fan reaction to finally get a response from the devs and publisher. Thank you. P.S. One thing I noticed not long ago was on the steam discussions they removed the original post about the patch due to "misinformation" according to the Deep Silver steam account.

I didn't even realise Re-Elected wasn't on PC until watching this video. Yeah, I could definitely see this being a PC port now you've mentioned it. Either way, the thought of the game having Cross Play is very exciting to me. Assuming this is just a PC port with Cross Play, then I wonder if the Nintendo Switch version will also receive Cross Play.

Just why. Saints row IV is cool but, do they genuinely, and I mean, REALLY believe that a remaster of IV is what we want after how many years of criticism? I can only see these updates being for optimizations for the steam deck and switch, but even if it is a IV remaster, it’ll do nothing but show me personally that volition doesn’t care and is incapable of listening and developing a game with their community

As much as I love SR4, to the point that I, 100 percented it recently. SR2 needs one way more. SR4 has lots of references to the older games especially 2 that would fly over the heads of the newer generation/new players to the franchise. SR2 remaster first, SR4 remaster second to make more sense in the story

well Saints Row 4: Re-Elected got ported on PC via Epic Games(for free until Dec. 15) and Steam. Meanwhile I'm waiting for the original Saints Row to be port on PC but they decided to reboot the game :C

I’ll keep my hopes down to 0 by assuming we’re never getting that SR2 patch, so if they announce its cancelled it’ll hit less, and if they announce a release date i will be pleasantly surprised

Probably just going through a systematic remaster of the modern games since SRIV is basically SRTT but with reskinned items, powers, and some few extra set pieces and maps. It wouldn't be a big challenge to remaster the 3rd and 4th, but the older games such as 1 and 2, if they do get remastered, would need to have a lot more work done.

When the only criticism about the third remaster is "outdated gameplay and humor" you know that the graphics looked damn good. I really hope that 2 and 4 get remasters like 3 got.

The original SR3 has a broken mission in the Zimos's ho escort, it loads the player into the vehicle but not the npc and after a sec. It just fails you.

If SR4, does get a remaster, I hope the add the thigh high boots from SR3, and add elbow versions of the am warmers from the oiginal game

I had a feeling if they were gonna make another remaster it'd be 4, I know it's the easiest remaster since they could reuse some textures and models from the SR3 remaster, but we truly need 2. (and 1)

I also noticed the Steam icon changed. I hope they fix the buggy stuff because damn, Saints Row IV crashes so much especially in multiplayer.

Can we just get a SR1 and SR2 remaster? At LEAST SR1. SR2 at least is on PC so it could be played past the generation it was released in (with the GOTR mod/patch), while SR1 you can't play now without an old console (emulators don't work with it.)

What skeet said, you might have some crashes and graphical corruptions here and there. But SR1 is full playable in xenia.

as much i think SRIV is pretty fun and won't mind seeing a remaster (if the new character models don't look outplace and not a EGS exclusive)but i would still want to see that SR2 patch first tho.

TBH i wouldn't mind a remastered/re-elected SRIV port to PC although it seems kind of unnecessary to purchase. SR4's graphics and design have held up pretty well over 9 years, same with the third despite it being rough around the edges. But i agree, the lack of an update on the Saints row 2 patch after 3 whole years is unnerving to say the least. I hope gearbox's absorption on voltion doesn't hinder that, but we still gotta keep in mind that voltion's team is still working on SRR and only have been working on SR2's Patch in their spare time with not a whole lot of people on the project most likely. Hoping to get something during December but i highly doubt anything regarding sr2 will come.
