Saints row has never been a masterpiece, for me it's always been mindless dumb fun with a mostly generic open world and this one is no different. People be acting like every game should be catered to them personally. It's okay to not like a game, move on. This same thing happened with saints row 3, I remember it vividly, there was so much hate for it because it wasnt the same as SR2, then it happened again with SR4 just after people calmed down from the aesthetic changes of 3. Now it's clear they have found their aesthetic stance, quirky, cheesey dumb humour and people still can't move on from SR2. The series has changed, I think its time to accept that already, its been over 10 years now lol. If it's not for you, thats fine but dont ruin it for others. Yes it's buggy but day 1 patch isnt out yet and there'll likely be another patch next week. Sadly thats the state of the industry now - fix it later. I'm just tired of how negative everybody is these days. People in irl always complaining, and its all the same online. Lets just enjoy what we enjoy and dont bother with the stuff you dont like. Life becomes a lot more enjoyable and happy when you cut off the stuff you don't like. People almost want to be mad lol, I just dont understand. Personally I'm gonna get the game and I'm probably gonna enjoy it because life is too depressing to take seriously, I need more games that dont take itsself seriously so I can have dumb fun crashing cars and genderbending shrek.

Saying "Who buys a Saints Row game for the story" is kind of dismissive of the issue. Yes, I didn't play Saints Row 3 or 4 for the story, but their stories were still entertaining and the characters were enjoyable. While no one is necessarily buying this new Saints Row for the story, you can't ignore that you still have to witness and be a part of that story, which many people who play the game have issue with. Mainly it's a matter of the grating main cast of the story. More so, the bugs are a major problem. Yes, perhaps you in your first few hours haven't experienced major bugs. But it can't be ignored that there are a lot of reviews out there showing major game breaking bugs that require missions to be restarted, or the game to be rebooted. Entire sections of the game like Co-Op are borderline unplayable. It's inexcusable.

I respect the desire to go against the grain, but I don't know if this was quite the hill to do it on. A lot of this video seemed to unintentionally recommend overlooking the problems with the story, the rubbery combat, the bugs and glitches (remember CP2077 got removed from Playstation's game store over bugs and glitches, no one is safe.) and then you'll have a good time. The problem is that pretty much reduces this down to a character modeler, car designer, or virtual Vegas tour. Of which, character customization only gains value with either a superior story or multiplayer, and car customization's value is heavily tied into how satisfying driving said car is. Also what's wrong with making new IP's? If you're done with your old fans, gently put them to rest and actually move on rather than reigniting their interest in the game by slapping that memorable name on it, and then failing to deliver. You're setting yourself up for failure, and your fans up for disappointment.

@@getnitrous Resident Evil 1 and Resident Evil Village are entirely different games, though. Saints Row has *always* been a third person crime sim focused on mayhem, the story was a bonus in saints row 1 and 2. But now this series *doesn’t* have the benefit of a good story, so the open world has to speak for itself - it’s an okay time waster, but nothing to write home about. Just being willing to accept trash because ‘that’s not where their focus lies’ is so dumb as it literally allows the devs to get away with murder. Imagine saying “Oh, it’s okay that the game is buggy as shit, because that’s not where their focus lies!” The devs said themselves that the characters in their game are great, and they either lied or were very mistaken. The characters suck, that’s my point.

“Mindless dumb fun” is not enough to sustain a game, much less a franchise. Saints row used to have heart, passion and soul. It was made by people that actually gave a damn and WANTED to make something GREAT and they achieved that with the first two games. This game was not trying to be great, or even good for that matter. It was another low effort mindless product catered towards gen z’s and was aiming for mediocrity from the jump. You can like it, you can think it’s fun to play for small increments at a time, but it’s irresponsible for you to tell people to go out and pay $60-70 of their hard earned cash to buy a broken and empty product day one.

Your optimism is based off of one day of gameplay. If you're still enjoying it, great. But consider how sad it is that I had to scroll down a ladder of videos to find this one. We've had a week with this, and despite people's personal gripes, the facts are that it's a buggy mess with irredeemable issues. It came out in a beta state after a 6 month delay. I'm not saying join the hivemind, but there's really little to defend here to call it a comparatively good videogame.

The first 3 games had such well written stories. Like they all connected with each other, and fell into place and were paced so well… then those other three games that are released after that, just went in the dumpster lmaoo

I’m a huge fan I’ve played every game and I do it mostly for the story. In saints row 2 I wasn’t chasing down the brotherhood truck because driving was fun I was doing it to try and save Carlos, I wasn’t grinding respect missions to do the ronin story line cause I liked the mini games I was doing it because I wanted to help Johnny get revenge for Ish. In saints row 3 the dildo bat was funny but what left a bigger impression on me was assaulting the Morningstar penthouse and claiming it for yourself, choosing weather to save Shaundi or take out Killbane and stop him from escaping the city. Story moments like those have always been the heart of saints row and, it’s the story that keeps my friends and I coming back to the franchise. Just thought I’d say my piece for those of us that do play saints row for the story

The athird had the best story for me. Two was taking itself too seriously but 3, while looking like mindless funny moments,actually had more depth when it came to characters and plot. It wasn't just your boss being pissed and shitting on rival gangs.. it felt like fighting to show everyone in Steel port that the saints are not to be messed with!

I think when people talk about the story. I think they're referring to serious moments. Like when Johnny Gat's girlfriend is killed, and then Johnny and Ronin enforcer get into a sword fight. While the boss is in a gunfight. One of the best action scenes in the franchise in my opinion. Then there was the mission where you try to save Carlos, only to end up putting him out of his misery after he was dragged all over Stillwater. Then there's scene where Johnny Gat and the boss bury the Ronin boss's son alive. But then again I don't know, I haven't gotten very far in the game yet. I guess we'll see.

Good video I respect your opinion, but this is not a complete game. People buy this game not only to have fun in the open world but also the story. Then if the story didn't matter they should have scrapped the story and sell the game for $20 or release the game for free and slap on a season pass. The game to me looks meh, but when this game is on sale for a lower price I would definitely buy it because I'm tired of GTA V😂

I am coming into this without playing the series and to me making a character as zany and off the wall to make me laugh is well worth the money without a story hopefully grand theft auto 6 could follow suit but I seriously doubt it.

Now there is a lot to unpack here when it comes to this video, and I’m just going to start off with one thing, that being it’s okay to like this game. Normally, I have no issue with people liking a certain game, and I understand that taste is very much subjective. Whatever interest you, you go ahead and pick up the product, and that’s perfectly fine. Now with that being said, let’s go onto your video point by point: (Don’t worry, I’m a die-hard Saints Row fan and I did take the time to watch the video before making my point.) Starting with the title, it doesn’t sit right as you’re telling people what to think and what not to think. The purpose of reviews, especially when these are critiquing games of questionable quality, is to either let the viewers know what they’re getting into or to protect people from bad products. Unfortunately, the Saints Row reboot game falls into the latter category, considering the obvious bugs and glitches, followed by the story not being so well-written. Aside from the title itself, let’s look at the points that you made. Yes, I do agree that there are those who are nitpicking stuff, hating for the sake of hating. These people do exist. However, I’d argue that crowd you were talking about are very miniscule compared to the rest of the people that didn’t appreciate the direction their favorite franchise is going. The reason why people got a vile view of the reboot starting from the trailer is because they were hoping for a return to form that were Saints Row 1 and 2. What did not help matters was Volition’s hostile responses to the fans that did not appreciate having their favorite franchise get sanitized in order to reach a broader audience. You see, I’m a firm believer of the phrase “You try to please everyone, you please no one.” This is the case for the Saints Row reboot. I imagine how much it sucks for the team to see their own project get shat on but attacking the potential customers or those who have concern about the game doesn’t help matters one bit. In fact, it pushed people further away from the product, giving the impression that the devs can’t take criticism. Now if the reboot game wasn’t even called Saints Row and was a different title, as in the game being its own thing, nobody would have that much of an issue with it. I mean yeah, the bug problem would still be present, but the backlash would not be so severe. “Who the hell buys the Saints Row game for the story?” I’m sorry, but have you seen the fandom itself? Yeah some people came in for the mindless fun, but there are people that do come for the story. I started off at Saints Row 1, thinking I’d have the same fun I’d have with GTA, but the story really did hook me in about the gang life. The over-the-top style is merely part of the game franchise’s identity. In fact, the big parts that did help cement the identity of Saints Row were both the love for hip hop and the life of gangsters. The reboot, however, doesn’t even have the core values that the previous games have. I mean as much of a dumpster Saints Row The Third was, at least there were definitely some essence of classic Saints Row. Now that is true, the characters are goofy in past Saints Row games, that much I can’t deny, but I’d argue that the difference between the classic Saints Row games and the reboot is that there are in fact more to the characters in the classic. I mean Gat ain’t just some killer gangster who finds joy in causing as much chaos as he can for his own amusement, for he deeply cares about the Third Street Saints gang and his beloved Aisha. Julius ain’t some leader who takes in people and indoctrinate them into a gang with the belief that he can clean the street, but he’s also a very self-serving bastard wanting to control the street himself. The problem with the cast for the Saints in Saints Row reboot is that they come across as the toxic people that we’d see on twitter. As for the bugs, yeah it is typical that bugs are going to happen, and at this point, it had gotten annoying. Even more apparent is that the game was going to be released in a time frame close to Elden Ring but had to be cancelled. Normally, that would have been a sign that the game is going to be polished, but instead, it was another buggy mess that came out of AAA company, and it really needs to stop. I don’t expect games to be picture perfect, but what I do want is at least game that isn’t so buggy to the point of game breaking. With the visuals, I don’t agree with that. In fact, judging by the art style, it looks like it really wants to go for something as mainline as Fortnite, especially with the way the characters are shaped. I mean if you want to talk about breathtaking appearance, let’s look at Cyberpunk 2077. Yeah, it had one of the shittiest launches in gaming history, but even that looked a lot more breathtaking than Saints Row reboot. But hey, people have different idea of what looks good, so I can’t judge. Now with gaming drying up, that I agree. It’s been a dry season with AAA games, though that’s why indie games come swooping in to save the day. Even then, there are still plenty of options. I would love to know what you think of what I said because, again, I took the time to watch the video because I like to challenge my own viewpoint and see what other people have to say.

I noticed that those who don't play for the story or those defensive about the reboot started off recently at 3 and 4. For a while, it was so strange for a shift in tone to happen in Saints Row The Third, but then I found out there was indeed a shift in management that happened after Saints Row 2, and the new guy who lead the team hated the tone of Saints Row 2 and wanted to bury that as much as possible, which is...very much disrespectful to the original dudes who worked on the first two games.

Thank you for the reasonable response and taking the time to watch and listen to my points . As for the title we are living in a time where rant videos and everything is shit is extremely trendy .. negative takes and ranting about stuff just always seems to get more clicks apposed to someone saying it’s good . Even on my channel some of my best videos are me ranting about Activision and their prices for cod games on the Microsoft store . It’s not just games either how many movies have came out in the last few years and been completely utterly shit on despite not being nearly that bad. The purpose of the title and my video was saying don’t listen to what you’re hearing . Watch some footage without the notion this game is bad . You see this game was set up for failure from day one .. the original launch trailer had a 3:1 dislike ratio so nobody was ever going to give it a chance after that even if it was actually a pretty okay game (which it is) . Secondly yes saints row 1 and 2 had good stories (only 2 I i finished in the series) but to be brutally honest if you’re buying these games for the story it’s kinda ironic because you’re hating on the game for being medicore or us having low standards for liking this new one yet I could argue you have very low standards for a good story mode campaign if you buy these games for their story . I can name atleast 30-40 games in the 360 era with better more engaging stories than that of saints row 1 and 2 . Also saints row 2 was one of the buggiest games ever .. I remember there being glitches left and right and I think even to this day it has many but for some odd reason people don’t mention that when talking about those games probably because it doesn’t fit their narrative on the game being so incredible

Now I gotta say that I do agree with you that there is interest on negative reviews or spicy takes on things, and there are crowd of people who do enjoy that, but that doesn’t mean there are not enough love for the positive videos. At the end of the day, people just wanna see videos regarding the things that do interest them, either positive or negative. Now when you brought up your point, as in the purpose of the title and video, that’s exactly what I was talking about, never tell the audience what to think and what not to think. I mean I can understand your frustration, considering your experience with the game, but not everyone’s experience is going to be the same. I can assure that even without the context behind the reboot game, there’s a good chance people weren’t going to like it either way due to the bugginess and the storyline itself. But due to the attitude of the developers towards those who didn’t like the trailer, as stated before, it created ill-will towards the game. I ain’t no PR guy or businessman, but it’s not a very smart business move on the devs’ part to talk down to their own fanbase. Really, the fault for the game failing should fall upon the behaviors on the dev team and the advertisement itself, among the glitches and bugs and whatnot. Let’s put aside that background information and look at the game series. No one said that these game stories where a master class, Saints Row as a whole, but my counter argument would be that it does not excuse the mediocre storytelling of the reboot game. I mean are we not allowed to play games for the story mode? I mean a part of me feels that’s not what you’re trying to convey, but that’s the implication I’m getting from that statement alone. Now for the case of Saints Row 2, if you’re talking about the PC port, then you’re not wrong for talking about how buggy it was because the PC port was not being taken seriously like how the other games after were. But if we’re talking console ports, then I don’t recall any bugs or glitches that broke the game. Now the reason people still hold Saints Row 2 on such high regard is because it actually stayed true to the spirit of the first game while still being able to try something new and go through with the story direction. The identity is still there in that game.

I don’t think a lot of people were looking for GTA6. I don’t think too many people are bagging on this game for the weak story (although that’s definitely a knock). The game is supposed to be fun, we can work with that. The two pillars of gameplay for this game are the driving/traversal and the shooting. The driving is just nothing special. It’s serviceable and you can get from point a to point b but that’s it. Even the wing suit just doesn’t feel good. It just functions, it’s a faster way to travel, but it’s not fun or even particularly engaging. And anything that is fun about traversal (like explosions or general carnage) become boring VERY quickly. Then the shooting, you said yourself the gunplay is on the weaker side and it gets repetitive. That’s half the game, basically, and it’s subpar. The ai is terrible, the shooting, once again, functions, that’s it. It doesn’t feel good to kill enemies with guns, they’re just minor obstacles. And even a big part of SR’s showcase, the melee animations are TERRIBLE. Sure, they look fun, but they absolutely shut down whatever flow there actually is to combat. The most fun part of combat is explosions but, again, they trivialize combat even further than it already is because the ai is so terrible and enemies are almost always grouped together. I can only speak for myself here. If your game isn’t gonna focus on story, that’s fine. If it’s gonna focus on just being fun, that’s great! But be fun. Don’t waste all your energy screaming at me “AREN’T WE HAVING FUN!?!” Just be fun. Be responsive, be engaging, feel good (and yes, there are clearly defined ways to achieve that.) I’m not expecting GTA6 but I’m expecting a franchise that’s almost 2 decades old to progress SOMEHOW. Rather than focus on a well rounded game, they opted for fun, which is centered around 2 aspects of the game. And both those aspects are mediocre.

I think it's simultaneously not as BAD as people are acting and not as GOOD as people are acting. I've played for maybe 6 or 7 hours and there were things I liked and things I didn't. I liked just walking or driving around collecting drug pallets, dumpster diving, doing those crime of opportunity things where you stumble upon thugs with a stolen ATM and kill them to jack their haul. I liked doing the things where you walk around a park finding 5/5 info panels to hear the history of the location you're in or when they're like street art exhibits. I like wandering, checking out stores, trying new cars and just getting a feel for how your character handles. What I didn't like is what I'd call just poor game design. It's like they had an idea and never play tested it or something. Like stealing a go kart to deliver to a dude's garage. The thing is NOT fast enough to outrun the police, the health isn't high enough to withstand their fire and by the time I arrived (on my second try after EXPLODING on the first) I was like 1 shot away from the vehicle being destroyed. I did a couple missions like that with other vehicles beforehand that went well enough but that go kart one just didn't feel like it had the right stuff. There's a sideswipe feature where you can bang your car into the police to shake them off of you but you imagine slamming a go kart into a Police SUV. It did more harm than good so that whole option was out. And when you're in a car where the sideswipe SHOULD work it usually results in me hitting their car then getting dragged with it to the left, off of a road, into a building or some rocks and then getting shot a bunch damaging the crap out of my vehicle and hindering my chances of success... again, doing more damage than good. So THAT'S out. And I've seen this kind of thing a couple of times. A "Pony Express" delivery mission with a golf cart that has off-road tires on it. The destination is too far away and the time limit they give you feels unattainable, the thing again feels like it's not fast enough to even do it and it's health just isn't durable enough to survive the trip. I tried it twice and if I look up a walkthrough or find some exploit then I'm sure that I can do it but after the go kart mission I just didn't feel like trying anymore and I went to play a different game. And that's something that happens often enough in this game for me to notice. You get something that feels like it's not working properly and it makes you think, "This is like the LAST time something didn't work properly. And how many more things are going to happen that don't work properly?". The shooting in this game is described a few different ways, BAD and EASY. Idk how to explain it. It's hard to me, not from an aspect of the AI being challenging or the difficulty being high but just from how awkward it feels. One guy said, "The game plays it for me. I click right to auto lock onto an enemy and click left to kill them." And in theory that's how this game would be. You use your hip fire aim to get close to them, pull left trigger to automatically pop in on them then pull right trigger to kill them. Simple. Except that doesn't work half the time. Sometimes it's like no matter how close to the enemy my cross hair is it just doesn't pop in on them. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Honestly, the shooting IS NOT terrible in my opinion. It's not unplayable like people say, it's just wildly WILDLY inconsistent. And it surely isn't GOOD. And if you're thinking, "Well, I'll just not use the pop in technique and just free aim everywhere." then think again. My cross hair craaaaawls to the left before reaching the target, then SHOOTS to the left when I'm close, (about 10 meters too far to the left) then ROCKETS too far to the right when I try to correct and then starts slowly, painfully crawling to the left when I have to start over and all the while I'm getting shot. The free aim aspect of the shooting IS terrible. So now you're left HAVING to use the pop in technique which means you just pretty much have to hope that it works about 75% of the time. That's that 75% of the time DOES pop in btw, it's not terrible just... yeah. You never know. lol The driving is okay. Maybe pretty good even. It's no where near Grand Theft Auto's superb driving but it's better than the driving in the last 2 Just Cause games by like quite a bit. It usually works and it feels pretty good to drive most vehicles around. MOST vehicles, so don't be completely put off by the pick up truck you start out with. I think it's deliberately bad. But yeah, decent driving for sure. One thing I don't think I like is that there's no emergency brake. You have regular brakes on left trigger and an automatic drift button on A or X. Imagine if you had an animation of drifting in a perfect endless circle forever. That's the animation that turning and holding the drift button starts and it's up to you (halfway through a turn) to decide when to let go of the drift button and straighten out. I hope I didn't make that sound like a bad thing. It's super tricky at first but most of the time it works well, apart from the fact that there are usually computer cars in that intersection. The thing I don't like about this system is that every car turns wide. So if you're tired of drifting everywhere and want to just slow down and make the turn normally then the car's normal brakes don't always allow it to turn sharply enough, which is when you'd apply the emergency brake to cut the turn in half and swing your rear end around to make the turn. But since there's no emergency brake... your only option is to use the drift button which essentially makes your car slide sideways to the outside from where it currently is rather than cutting to the inside to make that turn. Now you're slamming into whatever is beyond the sidewalk to your left or right. It's not always a problem but man... they really could've had a drift button AND and emergency brake, especially since your regular brakes make you slow down mainly in a straighter movement. But again, it's really NOT God awful driving. It usually works and it's usually pretty good. The graphics I actually thought were pretty nice. Cartoony usually but I was surprisingly impressed with the specks and smudges on the screen when walking under a street light or the bright, colorful bloom from distant city lights the first time I got launched into the air on a wingsuit run. However there were a couple of times mainly in cutscenes where I thought, "Man... That looks rough. 😖" But over all they're just kinda' nice. Probably nothing near what they could have done with modern technology (I'm on Xbox One and Red Dead II looked phenomenal) but the graphics aren't God awful either. I don't really care about story in a game like this. It's a dead 5/10 without me even looking into it. If it were Grand Theft Auto where I've come to expect brilliant storytelling then I'd be all about it but again, when I'm playing this (in my opinion) Just Cause tier kinda' knock off Grand Theft Auto placeholder type game I just don't expect much from the story so I don't hold it to a very high standard. I won't even get into it. The main thing is that there's a pretty interesting map (not exactly massive) with what seems to be plenty to do and most of that stuff is fun to check out. Definitely drawbacks like wonky shooting, less than perfect driving and moderately frequent piss poor mission design but I've managed to have SOME fun with it. Like I said at the beginning, neither as bad nor as good as most people are saying. Just kinda' something random to play around with. With all it's problems mechanically I wouldn't feel right giving it anything higher than a 5 or 6/10. That's MECHANICALLY. That doesn't mean that my enjoyment from just wandering around checking things out hasn't ranged from a 7 or 8/10 on an enjoyment level. There are definitely things I've liked. It's just a pretty mediocre game that you might get frustrated at but might also have some fun with. Idk... I give it a C.

They complain about the story, but since The Third the story is a shitpost with obvious goals. Some "experienced" gamers calls Kenzie an unforgiving characters to the franchise. People complain that there are only side task to do on the open world, as almost always.

Bruh it's not worth $60 form what I'm seeing all over the internet that this isn't a finished game agent's of mayhem probably was fun and look at it now nobody ever said this game wasn't fun the bad out way the good in this case ik a few Xbox live games that's fun and I can't wait to see it there

I am hearing the majority saying how bad this game is and I do know a lot of critics exaggerate when they don’t like a certain aspect of the game and call the entire game garbage because of it so with that being said I’ll check it out for myself when I pick it up today. What’s giving me hope are the ones that played it with no expectations except for being a fun game and those are the ones that say that they really like it. its a gift so I wouldn’t be losing on anything, anyway.

The SR games have always been the fun jank alternative to GTA's bland polish, I don't get why people are suddenly saying that's a bad thing.

Yeah, It's kinda like people are trying to kill the series a little, seems like it at least. I went in blind and had a bunch of fun, enjoyed it a lot. Never experienced much of those "Very Frequent and Game-Breaki g Bugs". Worse glitch I had was Audio messing up a little towards the end, but it wasn't unplayable. I'm sure there are some bad Glitches, but I don't they're they're anywhere near as common as people say

I just played it and beaten it. Its woke trash. Gameplay is fun until the bugs come in. Story is trash. Old sr2 fans have a reason to be pissed. My personal reason is no gender options lol I wanted big boobs on my character and for her to have that female walk. They failed me. Stupid woke Era.

The game plays like it's Saints Row the Third but way worse and was released in an bad in awful state. Not to mention how doesn't the story in a game where it's literally showing you how a new gang of saints came about matter? So, excuse the other people and me for addressing these issues just because you're too easily impressed to spot the flaws and don't know modern standards. You don't need to be a reviewer to see how bad this game. Ever think everyone keeps saying the same thing over and over because there's some truth behind it? Saint Row is terrible, and the OP had bad take on it the issue. All he did was be dismissive and was the one that came up with several excuses to defend that game.

"Don't listen to the reviews" Honest question, not trying to be a dick. if I shouldn't listen to them, why should I listen to you? I've played it for a few hours so far. While it's not "the worst game ever" people claim, but it's still really bad. World feels empty, characters and dialog are unfunny and unlikeable, and my version is GTA Trilogy levels of buggy. Hopefully things can be patched in and the game becomes better, but for now it's a big no for me

Saints fans for years: "Saints Row is dead" Volition/deep silver: "dont worry its not dead yet." Saints fans after the new game releases: "yeah no.. its dead." Seriously though... I knew this was gonna happen. They kept saying they wanna go in a different direction and "modernize" it. We all know what that means..🙄 They took Rim Jobs and changed it to Jim Robs, they took freckle b*tches and changed it to FBs. Why? Cause the woke and overly sensitive MSM (mainstream media) would whine about it. The story is cringe. The gameplay is uninspired generic garbage, and the overall identity and personality of the Saints is gone. All in exchange for this half assed politically correct woke rip off excuse for a saints row game. What a bloody embarrassment to the Saints Row name.. F*cking pathetic.🙄😒 RIP Saints Row..🙏

"Stupid as shit" was the format for the story of SR3 and SR4 and that was what was so great about it. This time it's a different kind of stupid apparently but I'll give it a shot. Hard to believe I can't get a good 20 hours of fun out of this game.

I wish the devs would talk more about the state of the game and where it's heading. It's lots of fun and I want to spend a lot of time in this game but it's missing alot of keynotes like robbing stores, random stores to go into and do activities in, like a casino, strip club, or bar. It sucks that people aren't enjoying it as much as I am. I hope the game gets all the help it can.

I haven’t played this game but tbh it looks like the games actual price tag should be 20$ maybe 30$ the combat looks mediocre at best. I also think story is important because there’s no point in putting one in the game if it’s forgotten. Customization looks pretty decent don’t get me wrong it doesn’t look like a bad game at the price tag though I’d expect a bit more then what I’ve seen but it doesn’t look like the complete disaster it’s being made out to be

Personally I think the game is ok. For me I’d give it 7,7.5,8 / 10. I never really played saints row for the story I just like to free roam and shoot stuff. So playing it I have noticed issues with frame rate and having pop ins not load up properly. Hopefully a patch fixes it. I would say that maybe they should change some things like taking cover in a gun shootout. I would love to maybe take cover against a building, car while being shot at.

I agree. I enjoy it so far very much (fun factor) but still there are so many bugs on the PS5 version, that should've not been. Personally, I do not care about the story that much in a Saints Row game and yet, there are so many other things broken that should be fixed. I hope for updates that adress those problems so its worth the money spent.

Who buys saints row for the story? Everyone who did not buy this game.(and other commenters clearly) I played Saints Row because the story was fun, story had a good balance of drama and comedy. People literally loved the cast, Gat, Troy, Shaundi, and the rest of the cast…. This story on this game is plainly zoomer adhd storytelling. You can see the self inserts from the characters and its cringe. They casted a british woman for the voice of the female boss? Lmao so out of place in an American setting. There is so many problems with this game and being apologetic over the game breaking bugs is just showing the copium bro. If youre posting this video just to get some attention, well… good luck. This game needs another year or 2 of development, but seeing how the story went, thank god they didnt waste any more time for this pile of turd. So youre giving the game so many passes because there aint another big game coming out right now does not qualify this piss as quality.

I 100% and platinum the game I agree Saints Row(2022) is fun as hell. I enjoyed it as well, it was Saints Row. It had its problems however the game wasn’t bad I still play it till this day.

i never think saint row as a worthy replacement for gta or masterpiece of a story like RDR, it's always mindless fun, goofy even cringey at times, and that's what seperates it from other open world games, i think saint row 2022 fell victim for another hype train, we crave for another GTA, we hope saint row could scratch that itch just like we did on cyberpunk, plus can we just appreciate the destruction physique damn it looks good

I honestly these days am to the point where I don't listen to reviews. There's been a lot of things for example that I've watched in probably the past few years that people have crapped on that I just couldn't understand. Like Scream 5 (yes, I know it's called Scream, but the previous four still happened, so I'm calling it Scream 5). I loved that movie and for some reason, people found reasons to say that it's terrible. And to be quite honest, I am enjoying Saints Row so far. Yes, I did run into a couple glitches, one of which caused me to reload, but I'm pretty certain I know what triggers it and how to avoid it.

For me, all I want from a reviewer is how well the game runs. Anything else is almost pointless from a reviewer. Just because they don't like the story doesn't mean I won't. Same with mechanics, combat and whatever else is subjective. I also liked Scream 5.

I'm in the same boat. I bought Gotham Knights last month. Read so many shit reviews. I said screw it. Bought it, played it, and I really enjoyed it. I knew not to compare it to the Arkham Series as thats in a totally different universe from Gotham Knights. I still play GK. Not a bad game at all. Just people wanting to jump on the band wagon of hate because they didn't enjoy it. To each their own. I get shit on qlot because I love ME Andromeda. I also get shit on for loving Tails of Iron. Tails of Iron is a 2d action adventure/rpg souls type game involving a rat kingdom and fighting an evil frog empire. Tails of Iron is my number 1 favorite. Might have something to do with having pet rats, but besides that, people need to quit basing their opinion off of commercials, big time youtubers, big time critics etc. I was born 1990 and grew up in a golden era of gaming. Some of the games back then were crap compared to games today. I bet alot of these people hard-core review bombing or shitting would change their tune real damn quick if they lived in a time where things werent as graphical as they are today with open worlds.

I think we also have to accept that we will never get a game like saints row two, regardless This game has been a blast. Yeah, there are some bugs but there is easy ways to fix most of them by jumping around, crouching, hitting middle mouse button, getting in and out of cars. Dayz has trained me to fix bugs on your own in game. Also, there are checkpoints in missions that save your progress with said missions. Yeah you may get rolled back a bit but I have only had like 3 game breaking bugs in about 8ish hours maybe? Also, I've heard complaints on how the characters are never serious in intense/action scenes. When were they ever? Every saints row game had the exact same character vibes. I like it. Would I have liked a serious campaign? of course. Do I like what they have now? yes. It's fun. I like the characters. Previously, and the most loved character johnny gat, always joked around. There were some serious moments in saints row. Like certain characters dying and such. Impactful moments that I loved. I do hope there are some in this game too, I haven't gotten to the end so I can't really say. This whole "woke" bullshit: Lets be honest. If we approach this game in a different light in regards to this topic. They bully the hell out of these groups. I think its clear to see that a few of these group represent some political group. One group, the idols? Are constantly bullied because they don't actually follow the nonsense they spew. Who cares anyway? The cringe writing: It's hit or miss in their jokes and such. 50/50, really. BUT SO WAS THE OTHER SAINTS ROW. I played saints row two recently and holy shit, they said some cringe shit. I would physically cringe. This game has made me do that a few times though ngl The graphics look good The driving, may be a bit clunky but it is still very fun driving around. Repetitive shooting: I loved when they introduced saints row three take downs. I never used guns in that game because of them. I imagine that's why there is a flow? (I think that's what it is called?) I played through the entire game and almost never used guns unless it was something exotic like the shark gun. I don't mind despite it being my favorite thing to do in all of saints row games. Of course this game has its problems but that will always happen in open world games. This will get patched and most problems will go away.

3 game breaking bugs in a full price game over 8 hours of play isn't acceptable period. This game isn't finished and doesn't deserve full price. This is why full releases have been getting rougher and rougher in quality. People keep handwaiving serious issues like you said above and just go "it's not bad whatever" And graphics look terrible for a full price 2022 game. Lighting system is completely binary, either you're in an environment where it works or they rely on the constant neon to add some needed constrast.

The thing with the old saints row games, it was goofy and dumb most of the time but it also had serious, sad and badass moments that you respect. The direction this series went is so whack its crazy. I really wanna like this game but its hard. At this point it seems like Saints Row doesn’t even have an identity, they have certainly censored themselves. It’s a shame man. The game looks aesthetically pleasing but the shooting and combat is what I expected to be fun.

A story can be well written and goofy. Saints Row 2 had a great story. Don't you dare fucking normalize games being released a glitchy fucking mess. That should not ever be the norm. I don't care how many fucking games are half baked at release, I'm never going to tolerate it, and I still resent cyberpunk for it. 12 years of development, still played like it was released with 6 months of work done. Halo 1 released to nearly perfect gameplay and it had ACTUALLY had only a half year of work gone into it.

Gaming is subjective. So if you and many other gamers do find some enjoyment in the game, then good. In fact, I even agree that some of the criticisms are vastly exaggerated, specifically the ones saying "worst game ever". It seems most gamers and critics consider the Saints Row as "Average", even the more critical reviews. I personally, will wait for a sale as I wasn't enticed enough by the promos. However, I disagree with you and others in the gaming community regarding being "too negative" or "nit-picky" regarding the flaws of this game and others, like Battlefield 2042 for example. Stuff like that SHOULD be called out and we have to let devs know that they can't get away with mediocrity. We're not just gamers, we're consumers too. If we pay 60 to 70 bucks or more for a game, we should demand for more to justify that price.

The company that gave the best review so far was game informer, and they literally had a game coverage for the game. So you can tell they had a deal there. I'm just gonna wait for a sale. This game literally offers the same as other saint row games, and in many ways less. So im not like missing out much.

The problem is the complacency of the consumers to try and justify their purchases saying "oh well at least the game is fun". If I'm gonna spend $60 plus on a game that's supposed to be AAA, I expect it to have everything a AAA game is supposed to have. It's like advertising a Lamborghini, paying Lamborghini price and then realizing you are getting a Lamborghini chassis with a 2002 Honda Civic engine. Sure, it gets you from A to B, but Lamborghini was never known for their engines. Like, what? A good story, good characters that I don't feel like ripping my eyes out when I see and good gameplay. So far reviews have said that none of these are up to par compared to other games at the same price point and you people acting like that's somehow unfair to Saints Row because you had some bottom-tier expectations out of it is just plain wrong. If I wanted a "fun" game I'd play a cheaper alternative that did the same if not more that what this Saints Row currently does. And maybe not everything's about a "narrative being pushed", maybe it's jut that for a AAA Saints Row game that costs $60+, it lacks in areas other AAA, $60+ games have done well on and everything being "good enough" is the problem here. Game companies just settle on releasing "just good enough" products at premium prices and people will think that's just normal now. And if it truly is just a "good enough" game, how are the reviews not reflecting that? They've given it mediocre reviews for what you portray as a mediocre product. But hey, if you and many other people can find this game fun and can justify the price you paid, that's fine.

Got the game on PSN Plus and I saw the reviews and reactions, so I thought I would have a terrible time. Game has been nothing but enjoyable. Came across two glitches that were easily rectified. I loved Saints Row 2 and this feels akin to that. Only thing I wish this game had was the fight club like that game had. But seriously, this got blown waaaaay out of proportion and now the devs have gone under, it hurts knowing they really just had a good game on their hands but people (especially those who do not even care about the series) spit all over it and turned a lot of prospective buyers or fans away. Cyberpunk got a second chance and I feel like this deserved that as well. R.I.P Volition and Saints Row.

As someone who played both cyberpunk in 2019 and 2022, and saints row, this game is fucking dogshit. Don’t be that guy that claims everyone is trying to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes. This game is soulless, riddled with bugs that heavily affect gameplay, repetitive missions, early ps4 xbox 1 graphics, INCONSISTENT CAMERA SENSITIVITY, and the exact same bland, boring gunplay from the 3rd game. @@cortez3134 I’m 34 years old and I have witnessed a lot of bad points on the internet over the span my life… but this takes the cake dude. I I don’t even know how you were able to construct the idea logically. So what if volition spent millions making the game … that has absolutely nothing to with consumers (us) spending our money on a product that’s broken to its core. If Honda spent millions making a car with no engine or breaks, using your logic we should all just shut up and buy the car lol .

As a veteran of saints row I hate to see the game break away from its roots of the original story since saints row 2. I can honestly say that paying $60 for this game is a slap in your face if you chose to do so, the game looks good visually but gunplay is repetitive & personally I like the story when I play saints so yeah its upsetting as a company they have literally said fuck everything we know as fans of the game to reboot it with new characters that have shit to do with the original franchise wish the game woulda back tracked to saints row 1 or 2 remasters instead of the 3rd it really shows what kind of thought process triple A studios have when they create new saints row games because it seems like every year the series juss dies a little more, honestly wouldnt mind if they killed of this series after all the damage we have received. Sorry if you think im shitting on the game but thats how I feel & I have a right to feel like that after everything they dragged the game through since saints row 2.
